Great location!

The house was clean and well stocked. Great location. Right across from beach and walkable to so many restaurants and shops. There were a few minor issues at the hoise but management took care of it promptly.

Wonderful Week

The Property was better than described. Very nice. Location was perfect. Clean. Roomy. Pictures in property gave it a "homey" feel. Would stay again tonight - and tomorrow. Highly recommend.

Fine - some safety concerns and seems overpriced

Unfortunately, I wasn’t all that impressed with this property. The photos make it look much newer, cleaner, and overall nicer than it is in person. The carpeting up the stairs and in all the bedrooms was quite dirty and gross. Both balcony rails were incredibly shaky to the point of concerning. And, there were a ton of finishing nails sticking out at the bottom of the rails along the entire deck. A huge problem for our party with two toddlers.

Location location location

What a perfect location! I guess beach front would be the best, but this place is mere steps away from beach access, around the corner from Bert’s, able to walk everywhere. The house is comfy and loved. Plenty of space, everything you could want is there for you.

Great location, but A/C needs to be replaced.

This was a cute little house with just about the best location on Folly if you don't want to drive anywhere. The public beach access is practically across the street and the restaurants, shops, grocery, and liquor store are all within a 5 minute walk. What more do you need while at the beach. Location alone, I would give this house 5 stars. However, when we arrived, the house was stuffy, the dishwasher and coffee maker didn't work and there were multiple light bulbs burned out and dishes had been put away with food and drink left on them. The carpet on the stairs was filthy and there was thick dust on the carpet along all of the baseboards. With an outside temp of only 82 degrees, the A/C just couldn't keep up. By early afternoon, with the thermostat set to 72 (there is a sign warning you not to set it lower), the inside temp was 75 and very humid. I would hate to stay here in the middle of summer when it's really hot! Thank goodness for the additional A/C unit in the master bedroom upstairs that looks like it was installed earlier this year. This was the only room in the house that stayed comfortable. Now I have to say that, when contacted about these issues, the property management team (Vacasa) went out of their way to make things right. They sent someone out to repair the dishwasher, they brought us a new coffee maker, and then had an HVAC tech come take a look at the A/C unit. In addition, Vacasa installed portable A/C units in each of the downstairs bedrooms as we were expecting the rest of our family to arrive on Wednesday. However, the living room and kitchen area still stayed uncomfortable for the remainder of our stay. All of that being said, as much as I love the location of this home, I would not choose to stay here again unless it was in a cooler part of the year or if I learned that the A/C system had been replaced.

Time on the beach!

It would have been nice to have beach towels and folding chairs to take to the beach. It’ a little difficult to pack them in suitcases. Also the Wi-Fi router need rebooted, but there was no response to our inquiry for reboot instructions.

Great location!

We loved the location of this place. Beach access right across from the house and a short walk to the main strip. The swings downstairs were great for relaxing! Only con but not a deal breaker for us, the interior could be updated a little. We would book here again.

Great stay

This property was perfect for my wife and kids. Easy access to the beach from across the street and walkable meals every part of the day. The house has everything you need to entertain your family and friends without having to do anything extra. What an amazing experience for my family and me!

Winter break

Having rented a variety of homes over the years in various locations, I was pleasantly surprised that this property was better than expected. Was very clean, well appointed and the prompt and helpful responses from the local Vacasa staff was stellar. Very much enjoyed a winter get away and very much appreciated the multiple tv’s, comfortable beds and general condition of the home. My 5th trip to Folly Beach and although missed ocean front, this home was very satisfying and felt very welcoming. Thank you for your attention to detail.

Good Value, Good Location

My wife and I along with 2 of our adult children enjoyed 3 nights here. We found that it was within walking distance of restaurants, stores, and most of all the beach. Communication with the local management company was easy and convenient. We were able easily contact them after our second night to extend our stay another night. We would stay here again if we travel back to this area.

We wish we could have stayed longer! The house was perfect and we were so impressed by all the outdoor space. We loved that we could easily walk to all the restaurants downtown. And of course the beach right across the street! We will definitely be renting this property again in the future.

A Great House for Our Small Family

Our family of four wanted a safe vacation this year, and Compass Rose II was exactly what we needed. An older home, but with some new renovations and definitely clean. Our kids loved having each of the rooms on the main floor, and my husband and I loved having the upstairs bedroom and bathroom all to ourselves. We also really liked having two close public beach accesses to choose from, and the walk into town for food or shopping was quick and easy. The only thing we could have wanted was a cupboard or pantry for all the food we bought and brought with us to eat in the rental. I would definitely book it for us again if we decide to stay on Folly Island in the future.

Wonderful Property

The house was exactly as shown in pictures. Clean, perfect location-right across from the beach. Very short walk to stores, restaurants, bars, and grocery store. Being able to rent the golf cart from right there at the house was an added bonus!

Perfect location!

Overall, this is a really good property. Its an easy walk to the beach and to town. My husband counted his steps to the beach - 110. That's awesome!! There are some minor issues/ inconveniences and one safety concern which is why we didn't give it 4 stars. First, the good: The online booking is easy and hassle free. Check in was also quite easy and ladies at the office are very friendly. The house looks exactly as pictured and had lots of room for our family to gather, play cards, relax on the deck at night. etc. Kitchen is well equipped for cooking a dinner for a family. There's a grill outside that worked great when my son did ribs on them one night. Beds are comfy, but the room with the twin beds was a little warm at night even with the ceiling fan on. The rest of the house stayed cool and gave us a much appreciated break from the very hot Folly summer sun! The not so good: The starter pack is quite limited (a roll of toilet paper per bathroom) and we didn't even get that! I called the property manager, left a message and never got a call back. I know it's just toilet paper, but 6 people who have been in car for hours and need to use the bathroom definitely creates a TP emergency!!! There were a few cockroaches that we had to kill. I called about that the next morning and actually got a real person and recommended that they spray for bugs before then next visit. There are NO kitchen towels. Not one. We left some, but don't know if they'll be there for the next family. I have just never stayed in a vacation rental that didn't have more basics (toilet paper, kitchen towels, paper towels, extra trash bags). Not a big deal, but annoying. The property manager just told me to go buy stuff at Bert's. The water pressure in the master shower is pretty weak but it's on the top floor, so...(The outside shower is the best one). Important to know: Be Careful on the Stairs to the Deck! The top step on the first row of stairs is deeper than the rest (the wood seems to have warped a bit so that may be why). It's not a problem going up, but several of us almost tripped going down. I have a photo if someone wants to contact me to see what I'm talking about. It's definitely a safety hazard if you're not careful. A final tip- take bug spray (Off!) - lots of mosquitos in SC in the summer! Overall, we had a great week and enjoyed our stay. Thank you:)

Loved Folly but disappointed with the property

Check-in time was any time after 4pm. Arrived at 10pm on Saturday evening, -after driving 10 hours. House was not cleaned. Piles of dirty, wet towels in both bathroom floors. Bathroom sinks had toothpaste in them. Tub & upstairs shower had sand & hair in them. None of the beds had been changed. Floors were sandy. Wet, dirty dishes & pans in the cabinets. Dirty towels in the washing machine. Shampoo & washcloths in the outdoor shower. Have not been able to watch any television all week. Direct TV says “Spending Limit Exceeded” for all channels, local/network channels included. Light fixture over kitchen sink was missing shade, and realized after stepping on broken glass in the kitchen, it had been broken prior to our arrival. Charcoal grill was not usable. Grease filled pan was in the grill. No gas grill available. Overall, the house & furnishings are very worn & stained. White IKEA chairs in family room need to be replaced because they are filthy. All window treatments need to be replaced...vertical blinds on sliders are broken & missing slats. Curtain rods in one bedroom are bent/broken. Mattress in upstairs bedroom is very worn & sinks in the middle. Microfiber sectional sofa is greasy & hard from wear. WiFi speed is 3.4Mbps for the entire house. House shakes when the washer is running or anyone walks up/down the stairs outside. Don’t look too closely at the exterior structural connections of the house framing. Be aware that if you arrive after dark, there will not be any exterior lights on due to turtle protection. The issue with this is, the main entry door is in a dark, secluded stairwell in the center access under the house. No lights on, so have a flashlight ready to get up the hidden entry stair and a buddy with you. Not particularly safe for kids. At the top of the same stair, is the main electrical panel for the entire house...anyone off the street could be curious, walk to the top of the hidden, dark stairs...and tinker with the circuit breakers. Pros: Beach access is across the street. Bert’s Market is one block behind the house & very convenient for any needs. Walking distance to Center Street.

Great location

The property is in an excellent location, right across from the beach and close to Bert's and Center St. The house was adequate but had many minor issues like broken door handles, broken chair on the deck and the upstairs bed propped up at an odd angle with 2x4s. Issues were reported and I hope would be addressed to make this place as good as it could be.

Great House

We had an excellent stat at this house. It was clean and linens and towels were provided. We opted to rent the golf cart and never needed the car. The beach access across the street was very convenient. Couldn't have asked for a better place.
