Thank you for your feedback and for staying with us. We're glad you enjoyed the location and amenities, though we’re sorry to hear that other aspects of your stay didn’t meet expectations. We want to clarify that the recent historic flooding in Central Texas caused the lake level to rise over 10 feet, which in turn shut down the lake pumps that power the central AC units at the Island complex. Since all units rely on this shared system, the outage affected the entire property and was unfortunately out of our control. The good news is that the lake pump has since been repaired and the AC is now fully operational again. Regarding the balcony mention—we’ll double-check the listing description to make sure it accurately reflects the unit layout. And we appreciate your comments on the cleanliness and interior. We’re addressing this with our cleaning team and are continuing to make updates to improve comfort and guest experience.

We are thankful to have the opportunity to respond to this review and provide ‘our side’ to this very one-sided review. 1. The sink had a slow drain but was not clogged. If you think through the comments, if the sink were ‘totally blocked’, there would be no reason to have a bowl UNDER the sink to ‘collect leaking water’ We were there the day Chris left and there was no bowl under the sink, nor was there any water anywhere in the condo. 2. The carpets are not dirty, and we only wish we were able to attach photos to show this to people reading the review. 3. We have no idea what is mean by ‘window blinds inoperable’ – again, we were at the condo on the day of their departure to look into these many false claims, and there was absolutely no issue with the blinds. 4. AC filter is changed every month (and dated). Had Chris mentioned this concern, we could have directed him to the AC filter to check the replacement date (10/1/21) 5. The towels (a set of 2, for 2 people) are far from ‘shabby’ – quite the opposite, as they are fluffy, high-end towels. The listing clearly states that there is not a washer/dryer in the unit, but that there are laundry facilities on site. It is suggested that we were ‘uncooperative with drain repair’, however the rest of the story is that Chris called us, very aggressive and hostile, and said “you have exactly 4 hours to get these issues resolved’, and then proceeded to use profanity with our employee. There was never a request for additional towels or linens (which we would have been happy to provide), but rather a demand for restitution / resolution, with a 4-hour time limit. With this in mind, we offered Chris the opportunity to leave, with a refund for whatever nights he chose not to stay (because honestly, it was very unlikely that we’d be able to find a plumber to be there within 4 hours, and we were not going to have the carpets professional cleaned during his stay, as was his demand). We refunded Chris all of the money that he was entitled to. As we explained to him, if he slept in the bed, used the towels to shower, ate off the plates, used the silverware, YES, a cleaning fee was charged. We are not in a position to refund the VRBO fee – this is not our money to refund. In our many years of managing vacation rentals, this was one of the least pleasant guest-experiences ever. Chris treated our employee with complete disrespect (profanity) and was verbally aggressive. We will not accept future bookings from Chris.

We are thankful to have the opportunity to respond to this review. We do regret that the guests had difficulty reach us; their call was returned within 2 hours of the initial call (at 4am). We'd had no issues reported by any previous guests so we were surprised to hear of the issue. We offered to send the AC company out to look at the AC, and our offer was declined. We told the guests that there is a portable AC unit in the close for additional cooling, as the temps in the summer are over 100 and sometimes people want it cooler than just the CACH will provide. We offered to come out to set up the portable AC (not expecting them to do this) and again, our offer was declined. We are unclear on what additional steps we could have taken, other than offer them a full refund, which is what they asked for. We told the guest we would be happy to refund them for the nights they don't stay, if they'd like to leave early - again, offer was declined.
