We booked this and as we arrived, so did a hurricane but the property owner was amazing. Very informative, nice and friendly. We were able to stay one day before evacuation and it was perfect.
Our stay at this home was truly wonderful! The host was exceptionalâkind, attentive, and communicative. While some amenities were intermittent, the host went above and beyond to resolve any issues promptly. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the pool couldn't be cleaned, which limited its use during our stay. It would have been helpful to have a backup pool maintenance option. Despite this, the overall experience was amazing, and we would definitely consider renting this home again!
Perfect for a large group. Fantastic beach viewing and walks. Upper floor bedroom balcony perfect for watching sunrise and sunsets. Touch of Christmas decorations added were perfect for our family celebration.Already planning a future visit.
I love this house and Alligator Point. We walked the beach, cooked, played pickle ball, watched the sun set and the stars come out, did puzzles and played games. It was the perfect end to 2024 and beginning to 2025.
This house was exactly what we needed for a family of 6 adults and 4 kids. Robin was very responsive when needed and the entire check in/out process was easy. The pool is a plus with this house for sure đ we were very sad to leave but would love to return!
This property is absolutely amazing and would highly recommend it for a getaway! The house is huge with 6 bedrooms, large kitchen and lots of space for everyone. The host has thought of everything and made it so easy to go in and relax.
The house is set right on the beach and across the street is the river so there is lots to do. Spectacular sunsets, stargazing, fishing, walks on the beach or just relaxing on the beach or in the house. And the pickleball courts right in front of the house were lots of fun! We will definitely be going back to The Old Salt, thank you Robin!!
Nine of us spent four nights and enjoyed it so! Walking out the back door onto a clean white beach with warm water was quite a treat for this Oregon family.
We had a great time and enjoyed stargazing, jigsaw puzzles, walking the beach, kayaking, cooking, reading, watching football and playing pickle ball. Perfect getaway in a beautiful house situated in a peaceful slice of paradise.
We really enjoyed our stay here. I had been to Alligator Point as a kid several times and loved getting to bring my own kids here to experience it. They said the Point is their favorite destination ever! The house had everything we needed for our stay. Plenty of room for everyone, beautiful location!
Itâs rustic but in a perfect way. Well maintained and charming. Comfortable and clean. Steps away from the beach just out the back door. Pickleball was fun! Alligator point is an âold Floridaâ community and Old Salt is the perfect house for it.
Great house and a great location! Had all the amenities we needed and more. Plenty of space for 10 to 12 people. Property manager was very responsive to our questions.
What a wonderful week spent playing on the beach with my adult children and grandchildren. The home is spacious and the kitchen has all items to prepare meals. The 2 beds listed as queen size are definitely full size and difficult for 2 adults to sleep comfortably. Additionally, the home was hard to keep cool enough even at night.
Wonderful location on the beach with few other people which made it seem like we had the entire beach to ourselves.
Old Salt was such a wonderful place to spend Christmas with our family! The house is so spacious and has tons of charm. And the beach is literally right out the back door! The host was super helpful with any issues that popped up and even made sure the house was decorated for our holiday week. Not much to do in this area, especially this time of year, but we were fine with that. Just got home but I already want to go back!
We didnât want to leave. We fished, cooked , sunned , collected beautiful shells and enjoyed each other without the distraction of a busy city. It truly is the forgotten coast. It reminds me of our vacations to Destin when I was a child. The Old Salt is truly a treasure.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Old Salt. The house was spacious, with four bedrooms downstairs and two upstairs, three bathrooms, two sitting areas, dining room, bar, and well-equipped kitchen. The master bedroom was huge, and the upstairs bedrooms were furnished with beautiful antiques. The house was clean, the furniture comfortable (especially the beds). We appreciated the sturdy, well-maintained deck which extended all around the house. The numerous song birds and white squirrels were a real treat. The beach was great and almost deserted. The pool was clean and refreshing. We (five women) joked about waiting for the pool boy, and imagine our surprise when he really did show up to clean the pool! We would not hesitate to choose Old Salt again the next time we vacation in Alligator Point.
Our family loves the charm of Old Salt, and will definitely be back. The pricing for a six bedroom ocean front home canât be beat.
Still, we have a few wishes (which donât affect the rating)
1, The dining room chairs and deck chairs are extremely uncomfortable.
2. We would love for the a tall toilet to be installed. Older people like me have knee issues which are aggravated by low toilets.
3. The upstairs AC just didnât perform well. In fairness, our host responded immediately to our concerns, but a better unit would be great.
Thatâs it. We love Old Salt and look forward to our next stay three.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful property! Overall layout was comfortable and accommodating for our group plus pups. Kitchen is well equipped, the counter top ice maker came in handy. Robin was quick to respond to any issues that came up. Be advised that if you bring a boat, the lift area is very shallow. It worked better for us to tie our boat off, there is plenty of space to do so. Beach here is quiet and beautiful, neighbors are friendly. Especially interesting were the Sea Pansies, little luminescent creatures that washed up onto the sand at night. Would definitely recommend this place, and Alligator Pointe in general.
This property had a ton of rustic charm and offers a lot of space. The upstairs is listed as two bedrooms, but it is actually a large open space separated by a bathroom. It works well for a family with children if needing to hear all that is taking place đ. Other bedrooms are very small, but cute. There is a wrap around porch that is lovely too! We enjoyed how close the house was to the water on both sides. The sound side has an amazing dock to fish from. I do not recommend it for those not sure footed, as it extends far out to the water without railing. Our greatest hiccup for the weak was the air condition. It did not function our last two full days and it was HOT! Owner was on her way to install new ones. Closest shopping is about 15 min away at Dollar General.
I am a retired nurse, nature and animal lover, enjoy painting and crafting and a mother of 3 adults and grandmother of 3 and counting. I have been in the vacation rental business since 2006. I divide my time between my home in north Georgia and Alligator Point.
A beach front house that is spacious, unique, lovely cypress and pine throughout. The property is 1.5 acres and runs from the beach to the harbor with a tennis court, gazebo and swimming pool in-between. It has a boat dock for fisherman and upon request boat mooring or boat lift.
After searching from Mobile Bay following the coast east through Destin, Panama City Mexico Beach etc... I landed on and fell in love with Alligator Point. Unspoiled Florida! I was very fortunate to find a "ship to shore" property that has both beach front and harbor. A very rare find. The vacation beach house is called "Old Salt" and my personal cottage on the harbor side is "White Squirrel". The property is loaded with charm, has architectural interest with an open floor plan and beautiful cypress and pine throughout. The dock, tennis court and pool are added bonuses . I love walking the beach and seeing the ever changing wildlife like dolphins, birds and shells or biking Alligator Dr that has the beautiful harbor views of the piers and boats. I enjoy the nightly spectacular sunsets and at the stars shine the brightest at Alligator Point.
