Our family of four and another family of four came up for for two nights and a rafting the trip. Kids ages ranged from 9-14 and the place accommodated us well. Bobby is a very friendly and communicative host and the location is almost perfect. Fayetteville, which is a really cool little town is less than five minutes away. The New River Gorge bridge is less than 10 minutes away and so are the camps for various rafting outfitters. I say almost perfect location because the house is on a busy road and the road noise was fairly noisy at night, particularly in the front bedrooms. Though Bobby is a great host and the location was great, I can't quite give this place five stars. Other than the road, some other things were that the gas grill outside did not work well at all so we had to bring the cooking inside. There was also a lack of simple amenities like salt and pepper, shampoo and bath soap, and even extra trash bags. Although when I messaged Bobby about the trash bags, he brought a few over immediately. So, not quite 5 star worthy, but still a nice place to stay. There was even firewood chopped up outside in various sizes ready to burn. Too bad we got some rain!
Great location to all businesses. Road noise is loud on the porch and in the house. Old house so everyone is awake once one person is up.
Clean and cute.
Take my company to wrap the upper gully every year for the past 4 years I've stayed in Bobby's properties three times always a good time always well taken care of thank you much
Perfect location for exploring New River Gorge area. We loved our trip.
The house was clean, mattresses fairly new and comfortable, plenty of pillows. Host easy to communicate with. No issues.
Be aware the house is right next to a road--I found the noise and lights bothersome when trying to sleep, but earplugs helped.
Comfortable 4BR house with a terrific wrap around porch. Everything worked. Plenty of propane for the grill. All the pans and utensils you would typically need.
The property is in a great location, close to lots of activities. Great porch, nice backyard and the owner was very helpful. Overall this is an easy 4.5. There we few detractors.
Overall, our stay was great. The location was perfectâ so close to the National park!! The road noise was a bit more than expected, but for the most part we were busy and it didnât detract from our stay. The house lost power due to tornadoes in the area the day before we were to leave. We ended up packing up early to get a hotel, as we werenât prepared to camp. Bobby was very communicative and kept us up to date on the power situation so we could make a decision. All in all, we had a good trip:)
The location is great- convenient to stores, restaurants and the gorge. We felt safe where we were. The host was very responsive and the house was clean. However, the house isnât insulated very well so you can hear all of the cars on the road passing by. The walls are thin and you can hear people in the living room talking normally from the front bedroom. The bathroom shower in the front rooms was very snug- fine for children but very difficult for an adult to shower in. Some of the rooms also felt very stuffy- ours didnât have a ceiling fan and it was very uncomfortable to sleep in.
House has a great yard though and great porch. Well stocked with eating utensils, plates, cups and blankets. Our kids had a blast playing out back in the yard and it easy to keep an eye on them from the porch.
Although this property lists sleeping arrangements for 10, we had 9 people sleeping comfortably. One major drawback to the floor plan was the lack of a dinning room table. We actually brought our own folding 3âx8â table and 8 folding chairs and moved the round glass table out of the dining room. Fellowship at meal times was a memorable part of this vacation.
We greatly appreciated and utilized the sectional sofa in the living room. Regarding electronics, some of the TVs and all of the âjam boxesâ were useless unless one packs their own cassette tapes and rca wires (outdated). If the owner were to invest in a blu ray player and a few more inexpensive flat screens (w HDMI), it would be a worthwhile and noticeable improvement (esp for teens).
Accessibility to all WV adventures was perfect. We rafted the New, hiked Long Point and Hawks Nest, boated Summersville lake, shopped for antiques, and swam at ACE.
We would definitely consider renting this place again, even though our home is only an hour away!
THANKS BOBBY!
House was great, accommodated four of us well. Backyard is a beautiful setting, suggest maybe having yard chairs to use. Very comfortable beds and sitting area. Location was close to town. Bobby quickly responded to and fulfilled a request. Would suggest maybe a better stocked kitchen. We would stay here again, enjoyed our stay!
Overall good place. More designed for fishing and sport than other stays. I longed for a small closet space, but we made do. I never did find the washing machine it said was on the property. Bobby was very responsive to our needs.
This house was EXACTLY what we were looking for! Our group of 8 fit perfectly, with room for yard games, and activities. Close to local shops and restaurants, but still felt like we were enjoying the mountain life. Host was quick to respond to every question!
Bobby's house was in a great location! It is close to restaurants, visitor center, and trail heads. The house was sufficiently stocked and clean enough. The house makes good use of the four bedrooms by including extra beds in two of the rooms. Bobby was very responsive with communications, which is always appreciated! Thanks for a fun "girls' weekend!"
I cannot say enough about not just the property itself but more importantly, the host, Bobby. So friendly and knowledgeable and receptive and generous!! Answered all my questions within minutes and made this truly a home away from home. Even when my husband locked the keys in the house and we were outside freezing in the rain, Bobby had someone here within minutes to let us in!! I've stayed in many vrbos and this one stands out as a truly wonderful experience. If we are in the area again, I'll never stay anywhere else!!
The house was clean with comfortable beds. The kitchen is small but has a good selection of pots/pans/utensils/silverware. As shown in the house layout, you have to pass through one bedroom to get to another. That was no problem for us. The biggest drawback is how close the house is to a busy road. We didnât notice the noise when we were in the house but there is no getting away from it when sitting on the porch. The owner was very friendly and responded promptly to questions.
Stayed for a long weekend. Close to hiking trails, ACE whitewater and about 30 minutes from Summersville Lake. House is nice with some really cute decorations and slept nine of us comfortably. A/C worked really well and the deck around the back and sides was great to sit on. Nice firepit for s'mores!
We were very happy with the location of this house to Fayetteville, shopping, restaurants and hiking trails. Yes, the house is next to a road, but within minutes it became background noise and did not bother any of us.
There was plenty of room for everyone and the side room was perfect for playing games.
PRO River Outfitters is a local family owned small business. We started the fishing outfitter in 2007 so we could share our knowledge of southern West Virginia with others. Beds, Bass, and Beyond started out as a place for our fishing guests and just evolved through the renovation process into a vacation lodge. If you are considering a visit to the area please call and we will be more than happy to help you with planning your trip.
