The house has a whole house generator in case of power outages (Generac). Guests should know that this is rural WV, so there are things like barking hound dogs and ATVs that can cause some noise, but none of these come onto the property.
Lovely little home! Beds were comfortable and plenty of hot water. (Perfect after miles of hiking in the snow). Back yard is very nice with a great view of the river.
My family and I booked this stay to get together and it looked like a great spot for kids. We were not disappointed!!! We couldnât keep the kids out of the water. The paddle words and fishing were so fun. The house was clean and spacious!
Loved this property. It's quaint, right on the water, and I fell in love with the town. Neighbors are so friendly and you really experience a taste of rural WV. Would be beautiful in any season. The place is kept clean and tidy, and the owner is super responsive. We booked multiple trips in a row because we liked the place so much! The internet is amazing--runs full speed, which was an issue at other places we stayed at. We hope to book again in the future, and recommend it to our families and friends if they need to stay in the area.
Spent a lovely 5 days exploring Lake Summersville, the Gauley, and the New. House had the basics for kitchen, bathroom and super soft sheets! Direct and easy access to the Gauley at a great spot for swimming and kayak/paddleboard. Neighborhood is a dead end so not a lot of traffic, while traffic noise from across the river was only occasional and not disruptive. Mike was a responsive host for questions and suggestions. Recommend!
Was a nice clean place to sleep while in the area for work. My employees enjoyed fishing in the off time. Power was out when we got there due to storms but was resolved quickly with communication even at 9pm. Would go again.
Hi, I'm Mike! I have a few short-term rental properties, each of which I love dearly and spend time in myself. I think of Central Virginia and the New River Gorge region of West Virginia as my two homes and hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.
I'm passionate about rock climbing, love animals, and have degrees in physics, philosophy, engineering, and writing.
You are directly on a lovely flat-water section of the Gauley River, downstream of Summersville Lake. It's easy to put a small boat or paddle board in for hours of serene paddling. The calm of the small West Virginia community offers a wonderful respite, and my home is clean, spacious, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. Travel to Hawk's Nest or the New River Gorge for adventure and sightseeing, or Fayetteville for eclectic shops and wonderful food.
