Stunning location and a great house for a group of family and friends
Great beach walks and trips over to Skye on the Ferry. A lovely shop and pub in the village - and even a nearby brewery, which we visited a few times too. Plenty of Cycling/ paddle boarding done - and loads of wildlife to see. We will definitely go back.
My family and I spent 5 nights at this beautiful house. The location is lovely with amazing views across to Isle of Skye. From booking to check in the experience was good as the host responded to messages quickly through the website. Facilities within the property are good with lots of extras for families with small children The village itself has a small shop and a local pub. I would highly recommend having dinner at the pub, food is really good.Ferry trip over to Skye was also a really interesting experience.
We found An Gearasdan to be a wonderfully comfortable, warm and modern house. In the most stunning location with views from the house both restful and inspiring. Lovely walks locally and fabulous scenic drives when venturing further afield.
We booked this house for our friends and then our family to stay in for our wedding in Glenelg. Everyone was really happy with the accommodation and facilities. The views are incredible and the things provided are very thoughtful and give you everything you need for a stay in the area.
We have stayed in An Gearasdan on a number of occasions and have been visiting Glenelg for over 24 years. The property is lovely, very well set out and perfect for groups and a couple of dogs. The view down the sound is spectacular and the locals are lovely. We cannot fault the house or location and hope to return for many more years.
This was our third time at An Gearasdan. We find the house to be ideal for housing us and all the kids who are now grown up. The house has everything you could possibly need for a week away. The kitchen is well equipped with various sizes of pans, bowls etc., lots of cutlery as well as food mixer, coffee maker, roasting tins etc. A short stroll to the pub for a lovely meal and the beach is close by for picnics.
We've been going to Glenelg for 30 years staying in various houses and this was the worst week of weather ever. Thankfully the house was great as we spent more time than planned inside. We will be back again
It is a wonderful house for holidays with 8 people. Furniture and cleaness are in a high standard and we felt very comfortable during our week in Glenelg. Exspecially the GlenelgInn and the possibility to hike in the mountains around the village are really good. We felt close to nature because of little rabbits in the garden and seals in the sea. The location ist ideal to visit Isle of Skye with ferry.
We gently will come back.
The house, location and weather, everything was ideal, I feel we struck it really lucky.
The house and very impressive and has all mod cons, the area is fantastic (it made you proud to be Scots)
With the pub and shop all on hand it made things real easy. Excellent walks and drives .......to numerous to mention. No hesitation recommending the house and the area.

The property is in a beautiful location overlooking the Isle of Skye. Check in process was easy and communication with the host was very good. Our queries were answered quickly and they were able to accommodate our stay to fit in with our tour of Scotland. There were a couple of issues whilst we were there but we communicated with the host over these and Kay was quick to come back to us. We wanted the first leg of our holiday to be somewhere remote and this is most definitely it. The village shop and the Glenelg Inn are very useful village amenities as the closest Coop is a 40 minute drive. Amazingly peaceful and relaxing!
Beautiful house, fantastic location, 200 yards to a
Wonderful pub that serves the most fantastic food !
Even the weather didnât let us down
What more could we ask for?
That the house was cleaned before we arrived!
Thick dust to all the roof supports, cobwebs on the toaster! Dirty windows
Half the blinds didnât work
And tank tape on all the front patio doors
And all the walls desperate for a lick of paint
Glenelg is a beautiful place and the house is situated in a very tranquil spot overlooking Skye. The upstairs of the house is beautiful, great set up, well equipped kitchen and lots of games and books for the family.
Kay was great to deal with and very quick to reply which was appreciated.
Highlights for us;
Sea kayaking in Plockton
Pony trekking in Glenshiel
Mam Ratagan
Also coming back to the beautiful house after a long walk was great- the fire stick in the telly worked really well as did the wifi.
Only things I would highlight are we found the sliding doors downstairs difficult to open (some blinds do not stay up) and the bedroom level could maybe use a wee freshen up (some stains on carpet in ensuite etc). Just small things which didnât spoil the stay at all but maybe things to do in quieter periods.
We would definitely return though- it is a very special place.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to the owners Kay and Graeme, we booked An Gearasdan for 10 of us to stay as a 30th birthday treat for my partner and we couldn't have stayed in a more perfect house. We all felt so lucky to be in such an outstanding home with the most beautiful sea views across to Skye. It was everything we could have wished for.
Booking was very easy with Kay and she was very helpful answering all my questions before arrival, on arrival she left us a guide and plenty of info and maps onf the area.
The house has everything you may need, including plenty of kitchen equipment, linen, firewood, board games, books and dvds.
The house is a 5 minute walk to the local pub the Glenelg Inn where we had a fantastic Sunday lunch on one day and had such a friendly cosy atmosphere, also only a 5 min drive to the Glenelg ferry to get the ferry across to Skye!
Overall a perfect home and location for scenery, tranquillity, the local pub, and the ferry, i can't recommend this home enough!
.An Gearasdan was an amazing place for our extended family.
The setting was so beautiful, and the area around had so much to offer. We loved our visit to the Brochs, visited on foot by most, the waterfall up the glen was spectacular and the afternoon spent in the sun at the brewery a special memory. Arnisdale and Corran are charming villages with the Postie's walk. at the end and the goodies served at Sheena's Tea Hut a perfect reward. We walked to the ferry but did not feel the need to cross to Skye.
The only outing not undertakenby the oldies was the walk to Sandaig, greatly enjoyed by the family.Unfortunately that we had a flat tyre but the service from the local garage in Kyle was superb.
The house had everything we required and more as did the village shop..
In our ten years of holidaying as this extended family the proximity of the very friendly local pub was a first and greatly appreciated.
We have stayed in Glenelg many times before, and always been curious about An Gearasdan! It didn't disappoint. The house is stunning, has magnificent views to Skye and is one of the most practical homes I've ever stayed in. Everything is so well thought out... Lounge / dining area / kitchen are all upstairs to make the most of the views. We loved ship spotting with the telescope when it was too wild to venture outside (with a roaring fire in the wood-burner of course)
Bedrooms are all downstairs and the whole boot room / utility / laundry room arrangement means that you can ditch all your wet muddy gear at the door, leaving the rest of the house pristine & clutter free. Also downstairs is a second lounge /TV room/ study (I unfortunately had some work to do during my stay and I have to say that the study in An Gearasdan is probably THE hardest study to get any work done in thanks to the incredible views!)
The house was spotlessly clean and welcoming on arrival and the information provided by the owner prior to arrival was comprehensive & helpful.
Glenelg itself has always been a favourite... We love cycling (to Corran and also to Sheil Bridge over the Mam Ratagan pass). The walk to Ardintoul from the car park at the Kylerhea ferry is also fabulous, as is the walk to Lower Sandaig. And we love the cosy Glenelg Inn.
We'll certainly return to Glenelg and would love to stay in An Gearasdan again.
We love this property. It is a great space for sharing with family and friends. Fabulous views over to Skye and close to the pub. What more can you want ? Great facilities. Laundry room and a huge boot room at the entrance so plenty of room for jackets and walking boots etc. Four good size bedrooms and a downstairs lounge. Upstairs is such a wonderful space and it really makes the property a great place to be. Good communication with the owner which always helps.
My family have been coming to Glenelg for over 40 years. We are lucky to live in the beautiful Somerset countryside and holiday in the stunning Scottish Highlands.
