Unique and spacious holiday house set on the sea front
The main open plan living area with fully fitted kitchen and aga is on the first floor with the focal point being a large double window with breath taking views over Loch Alsh towards Skye. There are two double bedrooms on the first floor and a family bathroom. The ground floor has one twin room, one bunk room with additional single bed, a shower room and double garage. Iona Cottage easily caters for larger families or groups. There is also a large decking area to the rear of the property with seating and a barbecue. Iona Cottage is available for weekly rentals.
The location is outstanding whatever the weather. Comfortable accomodation . Great for our second family holiday here. Perfect for unwinding and reconnecting.
Beautiful house located alongside the loch. The views are spectacular either from outside the property or when looking out through the panoramic lounge windows.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We had high expectations for the house and they were all exceeded. Great base to explore the Isle of Sky, relax and enjoy the highlands. Our time here was the highlight of our trip to Scotland!
Our group of 8 was traveling from the U.S. to Scotland for a wedding and needless to say we were definitely fish out of water. This house was absolutely perfect for our needs and provided a great home base during our stay. It was close to town, but still provided a secluded area to relax in. Beyond that it was a great find for the fact that it was situated in a beautiful woodland reserve area with great hiking right around the house and a view that just wouldn't quit. The owner was easy to work with and responded quickly to all emails. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the highlands.

Beautiful spot, House was great.
We had a great time- could sit and look at the view across the Loch all evening. For Americans the AGA stove was interesting but after a day we enjoyed cooking with it. Only thing I would note is I missed that linens included did not mean towels. That is the only thing negative I can say and that was my fault for not reading the amenities correctly. We had a great time hiking in Skye and coming back to your house to enjoy the view and tranquility.
This was a great stay in a lovely property.
Just a few things for the owner to consider sent in the spirit of (hopefully) helpful feedback:
- the double bedroom mattress's seemed quite thin compared to current standards.
- the cooker was always on and therefore made the lounge quite hot when the sun was shining. We didn't use the cooker so not only an unnecessary cost to the owner but as an oil burning appliance not environmentally friendly either.
- finally, although it didn't bother us some people may feel the quite personalised lounge left them feeling they were staying in someone else's space, rather than their own for the period; maybe a page on the family history and their long connection to the property would get round that.
Overall a stunning location and comfortable home for our week (which was spent mainly visiting Skye).
âIona Cottageâ is not a cottage in the traditional sense- it is a lovely, large house . Wood internally gives the building a slight feeling of being in an Alpine/Nordic chalet .
Six of us had plenty of room. (We were able to use one bedroom as a âdressing/clothes room as wardrobes in only one bedroom.) It worked very well for us.
Whist there, we celebrated a big birthday for my husband with our two daughters and their partners.
( I found a wonderful woman on Skye who made and delivered a fabulous cake to us at short notice!)
We had a great time.
Living area is very spacious, comfortable , bright and the views from the huge windows are genuinely stunning.
We used BBQ and gradually became used to the Arga.
Location is fabulous if you have a car and it is easy to explore both Skye and mainland. We crammed in so much during a week. Would happily have stayed longer if possible.
Insgesamt alles top!
We loved our weeklong stay in this comfortable home. Most of our days were spent hiking on the Isle of Skye and returning to cook dinner and enjoy eating with the beautiful views from the enormous picture window in living/dining room. The home had everything we needed. Loved that the location was quiet, beautiful, and central to the things we wanted to see and do. A wonderful place to stay!
-----------------------------------------------------------
The house is in a fantastic location right on Loch Alsh.
In the evening we just sat at the huge living room window with a cozy fire in the stove and looked at the bay. And you can actually see seals less than 50 meters away.
The equipment is complete - just bringing our clothes would have been enough!
The Isle of Skye is minutes from the house and the local smoked salmon available in the next town is hard to beat!
The house is recommended if you really want to switch off - there is no hustle and bustle in the whole area!
And on top of that the very pleasant and uncomplicated communication with the landlady!
Conclusion: 10 out of 10 stars!
Lovely home, beautiful view, secluded, tranquil and relaxing stay. The pictures online do not do justice to this property. Thanks for sharing your home with us Antonina.
it's a beautiful place especially for kids. the house isn't that modern and in the kitchen there isn't enough cutlery (small spoons, small knifes to cut cheese and veggies) for a group of eight.
the view is great and the location to visit the isle of skye and surrounding is perfect.
A wonderful, relaxing family home. Great neighbours. Excellent communications with the owner who bore with us during COVID cancellations. Thanks for a great holiday.
We loved our stay, the view from the property is totally amazing. We saw otters and seals. The property was in very easy reach of the Skye bridge and some fabulous walks. We walked over to Plockton (7 miles) great track and stunning views. The Woodland walks right next to the property are very nice short walks. Property had great amenities, providing binoculars was a very nice touch. Also was a really bonus that bath and hand towels were provided. I would highly recommend this property.
Lovely home in a perfect location. Away from it all but close to Eilean Donan castle, Kyle of Lochalsh and over the sea (bridge)to Skye. Also the Applecross peninsula - what a fabulous road. Although you could have just sat in the house all day just looking at the view. Saw porpoises, seals and otters from the house.Didnât want to leave.
We stayed in this lovely house for a week of sunshine, views, wildlife, walks, swims, trips to Skye and family time. The house is very spacious and comfortable for 9. Well appointed with everything you might need. The living area is very large and we enjoyed our early mornings looking out of the vast window with binoculars for otters & porpoises - then out of the door later to hop on our paddle boards to join them! A great week, thank you Antonina. We would love to return.
