Great beach house

This is our second time staying at the Whatley House and it was just as wonderful as the first. House is amazing and hosts are so easy to work with. They are very attentive and our only concern was addressed quickly. Great family trip and we absolutely love this property

Absolutely beautiful ranch style beach home, perfect for our family. Filled with everything you need, from a full kitchen to an enormous amount of sand toys. Would stay here again!

Beautiful home and beach

The house is beautiful and spacious. We had plenty of room for all of us in the location could’ve been better. The house had many extras that you don’t get in a condo. We will definitely try to book this house again.

Wonderful beach house!

We’ve been to this beach house 2 years in a row now and cannot say enough good things! The beach house is perfectly suited for our group of 10! Bunk beds work great, kitchen is very well stocked, love the big dining room table, plenty of seating in the living room and the covered deck is the biggest perk! We spent a lot of time out there in the mornings drinking coffee while watching for dolphins, going through sea shells and playing card games. It’s so nice to be able to sit outside without getting sun! It is by far our favorite beach house and we’ve been going to different beaches for 40 years as a family! Our host is also super responsive and accommodating ! Thank you!

Right on the beach.

Location is perfect. Go right outside off back deck onto the beach. Beautiful scenery. Rainbow every morning. The owner very responsive to any questions we asked. Upon the last day putting beach chairs away noticed underneath the house by the bathroom with the bunk bedroom leaking water, causing the wood to rot. The floor of the shower has cracks which is causing leakage. But we are sure the owners will fix. Loved this place and hope to come again!

Location, location, location

House is right on the beach, with a really nice porch and a great view! Also close to lots of eating options. We loved having 4 bathrooms! There was only 1 roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, 1 roll of paper towels and 1 garbage bag for the house- so obviously for our group of 12 we needed to buy more. Also there was no laundry detergent and they asked us to start a load of towels when we were leaving. They did have a bunch of beach towels available to use, along with some beach chairs. We had a great time and can’t wait to book this house again!

Best house yet!!

Just left our visit and can’t wait to go back already! This was definitely the nicest beach house we’ve stayed at and we’ve been going every summer for almost 40 years. The kitchen was very stocked and the beds were super comfy! We all slept like babies! A/C worked extremely well and our most favorite thing was the covered deck (our first) and 4 bathrooms! We enjoyed playing games around the dining room table and had plenty of room to move around the kitchen! The kids loved the swings and floaties below the deck and games in the storage closet on the deck. The walk through the dunes to the beach was also easy for my parents in their 70s and they were pleased with very few steps up the front of the house also! We very much enjoyed our stay and the owners were quick to respond to any questions. Can’t wait to return next year!

Love the location and layout of this home

This was our second year visiting the Whatley home. Our family loves the location, layout, and access to water. We did encounter several things that required immediate attention…door access code provided was the wrong one…property manager was responsive and there was minimal disruption. We had another issue in the kitchen that resulted in an afternoon of service visits (major disruption). I did message owner separately and she was responsive and quickly sent top notch service folks. This home needs a bit of TLC, decluttering, and a deep cleaning in the kitchen of all appliances. The home is also in need of quality bath towels and a new drip coffee maker. The last few days of our trip I had to run out every morning to pickup coffee for the adults. We appreciate the responsiveness of the owner during our stay and hope that with a few changes we will be able to return in the future.

Lower Grand Lagoon Perfection

This ranch style family beach home is amazing. The location, inside lay out, and large back deck with direct beach access was perfect for our grown kids and grandkids- as well as us- the grandparents! The host(s) are wonderful people who respond quickly, care about your stay, & maintain a well- equipped beach house! Our family has booked again for next summer! It’s truly a beach dream house!

Great Beach House!

Lovely beach house right on the beach. Kitchen had everything you need! Plenty of space for our large group. There was also all the beach gear you might need as well as plenty of towels. We will definitely stay here again. Very clean and easy to get to everything nearby.

Making Memories

We loved this property, the location, and the wonderful amenities. The owner/manager was very responsive and quite helpful with my clarifying questions prior to the trip. The home is well laid out with a bathroom for each bedroom, washer/dryer, and enough seating so our family of 9 could dine together. Loved the fact that we had a grill and only left to eat local cuisine three times during our visit. The home is beach/ocean front, stocked with beach chairs/towels, water toys for kids/adults, and has a well-stocked kitchen. We loved this home so much that we went ahead and booked it again for June 2023. Our two grandchildren (boys ages 2.5 and 4 years) enjoyed the beach and water with grandpa and great grandpa riding the waves with them. Oh…the memories we made… This is a great rental property especially if you don’t want to travel with everything from your home. It really is a ‘home away from home’.

Family fun beach get away

The single story beach front worked out great for our multigenerational family vacation. The large great room with two large couches and two dining areas accommodated our large group. Nice clean beach and lovely view!

Awesome 2nd Year!

My family has now enjoyed two years at this awesome property! This beautiful home sits right on the beach with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, a well supplied kitchen and room for everyone. We love that this house is away from all the huge condos and crowds. The owners have been super to work with and we plan on a year three! Thanks for sharing this awesome vacation spot with us!

We just got back from our 6 night stay at this wonderful house. This is the best place we have ever stayed. House and hosts were wonderful! Couldn’t have asked for anything better. Perfect fit.

Thos home was a perfect fit for our family. The view when u walk in the front door is breathtaking. We loved the beachfront location. Nothing beats coffee on a deck overlooking the gulf. This house is everything the listing says. We will rent this home again in the future. The only reason for 4 stars on communication is we didnt have any contact with them because everything was perfect.

Great vacation!

The house was perfect! Being directly on the beach was the best! Such and easy walk to the water, and back to the house for any refreshments! At night the kids hunted for crabs on the beach, while the grown ups sat on the fabulous porch!

Great stay and a wonderful place!

Everything about the house was "as advertised", if not better! Very spacious for our family of 12 (7 adults, 5 kids 13-> 9mos). Access to beach was excellent. Back deck was a great family gathering area in the evening and during the occasional rain shower. Whenever minor issues arose, Mimi and other owners were quick to respond and make our Family Beach Week a great experience. We look forward to our return!!

This property is owned by four Whatley siblings, children of the late Janie G. Whatley, original owner of the house. We all grew up in Dothan, AL and have been beach goers all of our lives. We fell in love with the Thomas Drive area many years ago, away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip, but only a short drive from many of the beach attractions. The uncrowded beach here is a great plus for families wanting to enjoy peace and serenity but be close enough to enjoy top-notch restaurants, St. Andrews Park, marinas and amusement parks.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

We rented in this area and others up and down the beach before we bought any property. We decided this was the spot for us.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

The original house was destroyed by Hurricane Opal and we rebuilt in 1996. We updated the house in 2013 with a new metal roof, new doors, outside paint and inside furnishings.
