À propos de cet hébergement
Lakeside Camp in Cooperstown, NY
Please note- We follow the 6-day cycle for the Cooperstown Dreams Park during the active summer season. We accept bookings for 6-night stays for most weeks in June and July. Reach out if you have questions about this!
The Experience:
Enjoy a peaceful lakeside retreat at Hickory Grove's old dance pavilion, located on Otsego Lakes Six Mile Point. Our charming camp offers a relaxing escape. It's just 8-10 minutes from Cooperstown's downtown attractions. Step onto the front porch to enjoy a view of the water or enjoy the large backyard. Walk down the shaded lane to take a swim in Otsego Lake. Inside, you'll have everything you'll need for a safe, clean, and comfortable stay.
The Space:
You'll enter through the screened porch to the main living area. The semi-open floor plan includes dining space and a freshly remodeled kitchen. The cozy bedrooms feature a queen-size bed in one room and two twin beds in the other. A bonus screen room has the pleasant sound from a nearby stream. The bathroom is small and the shower is even smaller. We love this quirky feature of our beloved camp, but it is definitely something to be aware of.
Please note- This listing is for the South end of Six Mile House. A garage area separates this private space from the North unit (Vrbo listing number 4067303). There is parking for one vehicle in front of the garage. A second vehicle can usually be accommodated upon request. This unit has a maximum occupancy of 8 during the day and 4 overnight. We have firm no pet and no party policies. No video production or commercial activities are permitted on the property. Quiet hours are from 10pm-7am.
History:
This amazing building was originally built as a dance pavilion. In 1924 it was purchased by William C. Smalley, who operated Smalley’s Theatre and several other dance halls around Cooperstown. In the 1930's it was converted to a two-cottage family camp. Recent renovations included updates to the kitchen and bathroom as well as structural work to make your stay more comfortable..
Did you know? Six Mile Point (aka Hickory Grove Point) was described by James Fenimore Cooper in his novel The Deerslayer. The area is described in a scene where Natty Bumpo hid from the Hurons that chased him.
Amenities/Technology:
Each guest receives a personalized access code for the smart lock system, an outdoor cameras provide ultimate security. A window heat pump that provides heat (above 40) and A/C unit is installed in the main living area. This usually more than sufficient to heat and/or cool the entire indoor living space. The living room has a comfy couch and a 50-inch smart TV with Roku. You can stream using Netflix, Hulu, etc. (bring your log in/password info!) With high speed Wi-Fi you can stay connected while enjoying the serene surroundings.
Nature:
The house is located in a natural area with lots of wildlife (ducks, geese, whitetail deer, chipmunks, etc.). Insects and spiders are in the area as well, and we do not spray the property with insecticide.
Lake Access:
Our deeded access to Otsego Lake is just a short walk down the hill. You may ONLY use the point for entering and exiting the lake. The beach may not be used for any other purpose. This means you can swim, but fishing and picnicking is not permitted.
