From great neighbors to beautiful lake side views, this property was perfect for our family vacation. Paul was very responsive with any questions we had. The perfect location to explore many cities in Maine.
We had a wonderful stay. The place was right on the lake and having kayaks available was perfect for us. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are about an hour away. The place was very peaceful and had everythibg we needed. We would definitely go back. The owner is great too!
This is our second year renting the apartment and we plan to go back next year. Very clean, well stocked, everything works, and comfortable. The deck is the perfect place for morning coffee!
Pros:
- location on the lake front. Very peaceful location with lots of stuff to do in and around the lake.
- very spotty internet and phone signal. Forces one to disconnect well from the outside/work.
- House is well stocked with cooking, dining, and cleaning supplies.
- Owner Paul lives next door and available for any needed help.
- easy location to access Acadia and other bar harbor areas within an hour still away from the summer tourist crowd.
- House also comes with canoes, kayaks, diving dock, and supplies for lake front fire in the late evenings.
Few notes:
- House is a bit older than the pictures depict
- Furnitures are way old. TV in the house is from 80s.
- House has lots of ants and small pests. If anyone is allergic (my kid was) to ants, need to pay attention.
- Also had a nightly visit from a mouse. Not happy with that. I don't think anything can be done about it as the unit above or below are either under construction or need to be cleaned up.
- As much I liked the fact that there was a disconnect due to lack of internet, it would have been nice to have the option.
I felt that these are sort of manageable (by us) but avoidable (by the owner) nuisances.
The location and lake makes up for it to some extent. We enjoyed our stay except the nightly visit from the mouse and ants.
House was nice and clean. Paul greeted us with a smile and very accommodating. Washer and dryer were a welcomed site for my family's long trip. The lake, fire pit with wood provided and kayaks were great memory makers.
But, huge scary spiders were all along the house and on the lake raft. There was little to no phone or wifi signal. The air conditioning had little circulation for the farther rooms. Last issue was the television which was a flash from the nineties. No HDMI adapter and cable from ancient times still echoing through a time travel cable company.
Family enjoyed our time and overall it was still better than a random hotel. Paul was incredibly polite. Just a few suggestions to improve for his next guests.
We loved living like the locals for a week. This apartment is lake front and has everything you need. Our view every morning for coffee time was gorgeous. Grill and picnic table right on the deck. We learned to ride the kayaks and swam off the swimming platform. The apartment is located between Bangor and Bar Harbor , which worked perfect for us. We were 30 min from Bar Harbor!! Will be staying here again
Location is great-right on the lake. House was nice with a large kitchen. Bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Paul (the owner) was kind and courteous. We were able to rent a boat for the week right down the road! Overall the family and I had a great time!
Although dated, this was a spacious rental with Great Lake access - the kayaks and canoes were fun. There is basically no Wifi so just be prepared for that - I realize that itâs part of the charm but these days everyone needs to be able
To connect if necessary. My husband did have to drive to town to take care of one work thing.
Paul, the host was responsive to any questions or concerns that we had. He welcomed us to the unit with a great bag of starter supplies.
The pros: The place was clean, and we enjoyed using the kayaks and firepit. The lake is lovely, and it was nice to be on waterfront. Paul (the owner's nephew and only contact we had) helped with problems when he could. (But he was away during about half of our stay. We had no contact with the owner.)
The cons: Dishwasher and wifi did not work during our entire week-long stay. (Dryer also did not work, but Paul replaced it with one that did.) Nothing covering the windows, so very bright, very early in the morning. Neighbor honked her car horn 4 times every morning around 6am. There was a mouse in the kitchen. Paul brought a trap over, but the critter evaded it, and we saw evidence of it all week. The beds are okay (not great). The furniture and TV are from the 70s. It would've been nice to have been offered some money back, considering we did book this place because it was supposed to have some amenities that were unusable (wifi and dishwasher).
Place is a little intimidating at first glance (i.e. front entrance looks rough) but around back and up stairs the unit is clean and has all the essentials. Best feature is the lake access and kayaks. Beware that tv and internet are limited but you should be outside enjoying beautiful Maine not sitting inside! We had a great time.
Overall the stay was pleasant. The person in charge was readily available and solved any ongoing problems we had with the place. I would recommend this place to others should they decide to visit.
Green lake is a beautiful lake and this cabin was an enjoyable place to stay. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The owner was very helpful and quick to answer questions.
A lovely property in beautiful peaceful surroundings.
We had a wonderful time in this spacious and comfortable property. It was great being right by the lake, with kayaking and swimming right on our doorstep. Our host and his family were very warm and welcoming - we hope to return!
Violettes beach has the most incredible views of Green Lake and the condo was fully equipped with everything you need. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of towels and linens to use. It has a beautiful size deck from the second story that makes a great feel of view of Green Lake. We only stayed for a few days and time was to short for this wonderful place. And the host Paul was very accommodating for all our personal needs. I can't wait to come again next year. Fabulous!
