First, I want to say Bill is easy to communicate with and is very quick at responding to texts. The house was easy to find with GPS and the neighborhood is gorgeous. Very quiet and safe (the side slider was left unlocked for us to enter). The back yard was my favorite part of the property. Cute wooden deck with covered gazebo, full size glass top patio table with 6 chairs(I think, maybe 8?). Big, beautiful green lawn with cute little bunnies that come out after dark. But, the inside of the house needs updating badly. Upon entering, there is a musty, dank smell that didn't fully go away our entire 3 day stay. The couch needs a good cleaning (or just replacing) due to the musty smell. The throw pillow were so bad I couldn't sit on the couch for very long. The kitchen cabinets are old, water damaged. The small closet where the garbage can is smells so bad I think it needs to be checked for mold. Only one kitchen towel in the kitchen. Speaking of towels... There are 7-10 beds in this house not one of them has bedsheets. No towels in the ONE bathroom. When I asked about this Bill quickly sent me the "fine" print which stated the rental does not come with bed sheets, pillow cases or bath towels. Fine. I didn't read the fine print, my bad. He then told me there is a family owned business on the Island that rents linens. For the money we paid I at least expected bed sheets and towels. We asked other locals if that is a "thing" MV renters do, NOT include bedsheets. They all said no.
This house is a great size for a group of friends. It has a perfect outdoor space- a covered couch and chairs with a fan and screens. Comfy indoor couch and TV, indoor and outdoor showers. The house itself is not updated and some of the bedrooms have run down parts- an open closet with mattresses stacked and a hole filled with a towel. However, for the location and price it is a fantastic place to spend a long weekend. Have stayed there twice.
We just recently stayed at this property with my family and my husbands side of the family. The owner Bill was great. He was very responsive and took the time to answer any questions we had. The house had plenty of sleeping accommodations to fit all of us. We were a group of 5 adults and 6 kids ages ranging from 2-10. We had to provide our own sheets and towels which wasnât a problem at all for us, and the use of the washer and dryer was a huge plus. The house is in the perfect location and very close to downtown and the beach. We spent most of our days out exploring the different beaches on the island, but enjoyed grilling dinner and sitting under the screened in gazebo when we returned from the beach. The screened in gazebo with the overhead fan and pretty lights was by far our favorite part of the property and we loved sitting out there each night. Overall we had a fantastic time and were very grateful for our stay.
House is very outdated which wouldnât be so bad if things were in decent shape and cleaned. The cabinets have extensive water damage. The moldings and baseboard are in need of paint and a scrub⊠Old mattresses in a upstairs bedroom closet⊠random pans shoved in the broom closet⊠dirty/ stained couch⊠hole for a crawl space just wide open up stairsâŠ.freezer has extensive rust⊠one positive was the shower was clean and there was great hot water and pressure⊠the other positive was the owner Bill was very responsive⊠he was there when we arrived and had just finished the âcleaningââŠ
THE COTTAGE WAS NICE. THE PICTURE ON VRBO DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THE PROPERTY. THE SHRUBS ARE MUCH BIGGER SO WE DROVE ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD BEFORE WE REALIZED WHICH HOUSE IT WAS. IT IS TECHNICALLY WALKING DISTANCE FROM TOWN BUT IT IS FAR AND IF YOU HAD A FEW PACKAGES IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT. THE HOUSE IS WELL MAINTAINED. LOTS OF FURNITURE. COMFORTABLE OVERALL. GOOD PRICE BUT LOTS OF EXTRA FEE IT SEEMED COMPARED TO THE OTHER HOUSE WE RENTED. WOULD RENT AGAIN. WOULD HAVE LIKED BIKES. INTIALLY IT WAS DIFFICULT TO GET IN TOUCH WITH OWNER BUT ONCE HE BECAME AWARE OF US HE WAS VERY HELPFUL.
This house was perfect for us. Grateful that Bill was able to accommodate us. Itâs the perfect location in Oak Bluffs, a quick walk to Tonyâs and a nice walk to the harbor. The rooms are spacious and with a little coordination the one bathroom was not a problem. The outside shower was a plus. The portable air conditioning kept the living room cool as a gathering spot.
We also loved the outdoor space. Would definitely stay here again.
the property wae stayed at was very clean , the neighborhood was very quiet . transportation to and from the was was quick and prompt .the beds were comfortable . the outdoor shower was great , loved that rheee were lawn chair to enjoy my coffee on in the yard . also love the outdoor seeing with the mosquito netting . i would definitely stay again
A group of 7 adult friends all had a great time here over Labor Day. The modest house has comfortable beds, AC, and a great deck. We really enjoyed the comfy deck furniture and the fire pit. Linens, towels, etc. are *not* provided, so guests have to bring them or rent them on their own. It would be nice if this had been taken care of for us, but other than that we really loved our stay.
My friends and I had a lovely stay at Billâs property for Beach Road music festival. It was walkable too Circuit Ave and down toad Oak Bluffs, near lots of restaurants, and Tonyâs market was a quick drive/walk for food and drinks. The outdoor shower was amazing, too! Thanks for a great stay!
The entire booking, checkin and check-out process was easy and the proprietor was responsive and reasonable, seemed like a nice guy. I wiped down the surfaces as I usually do when I stay away from home, and everything came up clean. The house is well maintained and organized, spacious, comfortable for several people. Oh, and the deck, that was the spot morning noon and night! Quick walk/drive into town, beach, ferry. I can't wait to go back!!!
This was my first rental through VRBO and it was a pleasant experience. My only complaint was that the description listed 2 bathrooms in the search but its actually one bathroom and an outdoor shower (which gets amazing reviews but none of us used it). Bill was great and very responsive to any questions we had. There were 4 of us celebrating a birthday and the house was the perfect size and the one bathroom was not an issue at all. The town of Oak Bluffs quickly became our favorite and was within walking distance. Although the home could benefit from some updates, it provided a wonderful setting and location for our first trip to Martha's Vineyard. Thanks Bill!
Billâs house was exactly as advertised. Itâs a good house with lots of space for sleeping all members of your party. The outdoor sitting area is equipped with a canopy and furniture which is really nice to relax on. Itâs about a mile from the center of town, about a 20 minute walk. The house is nice and was clean, however it was a bit dated without many frills. Bringing our sheets and towels was fairly difficult since itâs only possible to get to the island via ferry, so itâs just a lot to lug around. Would have been nice if they were included. My only other recommendation would be for the host to include paper towels, toilet paper, and maybe a few k cups. We were only left with about a half roll of toilet paper, which was just something else we had to go out to find. Host was clear with check in instructions, and check in was seamless.
Nice quiet neighborhood but easy travel to anywhere you want to explore on the island. Wish it been a little warmer so we could have enjoyed the deck relaxation area. Outside shower a bonus!
The home has a lovely outdoor space and is within walking distance of Oak Bluffs. The interior of the house is small but we knew this from the description. Some of it is dated, particularly the carpets, bathroom and kitchen but it is nicely decorated with a beach vibe. Our biggest complaint is that the kitchen and bathroom were not clean. Crumbs under the toaster, old coffee in the coffee pot, dirty bathroom floor, etc. If it was cleaner, we would be happy to give it more stars.
We were visiting a family friend for a long weekend. The place is cozy and was very warm to start but the owner was very responsive and helped us through that. Walking distance to downtown OB, which is great in the summer when parking is very tough.
We had a great time in Oak Bluffs for the 4th of July! Bill was very helpful and extremely responsive, and his house is a perfect getaway spot. Highly recommend!
This home was perfect for our friend group who were getting together for the first time post-COVID. It's a 17-minute walk from the Oak Bluffs dock area and Inkwell Beach, which was great with the weather we had. The home has 1 bathroom, with an additional shower outside (this was a great help and everyone who used it raved) - wish there was another bathroom but we made it work! Bill, the host, was exceptionally communicative. He answered my questions beforehand and made it clear that he'd be available throughout should we need anything! I would certainly book here again!
