We've stayed here multiple times and every time has been great. Its a great location close enough to town for restaurants but still peaceful country setting.
Loved the location of this property and the views from the backyard. Great for a peaceful getaway with easy access to town and amenities. Would definitely stay again!
Five days for Thanksgiving we had fires sitting around the fire! Fishing on the river, surrounded by trees and woodpeckers a few deer, but the best was a fully fenced in huge yard, and they welcomed my fur babies! Five minutes from downtown Bastrop easy access to Buckyâs on an adventure in walking the strip into the cute little shops! The windows in the bedrooms are magnificent with a view of the river and the sun coming through!
The location was great due to being isolated, quiet and peaceful with a great view. Seeing the deer in the mornings travel between properties was also a plus.
Excellent house on the river, with a nice fire pit areas and plenty of river views to watch the kayakers and boats go by. Was a nice place to stay while attending Sherwood.
Thank you to our host Sonja who made every step easy!
We absolutely LOVED the view on this property. It is a older home but that is what creates the character of the place! The fire pit at night was a lovely treat and being able to relax without all the city noise! We would definitely stay again!
We absolutely enjoyed our month-long stay here. Stunning river view, and the river was easily accessible. Strong wifi allowed me to run my home office set up, while husband streamed movies. The host was super responsive, and went above and beyond. And, we enjoyed watching the deer in the mornings and evenings. Top notch, first rate experience. Highly recommend!
Would have liked to have wash cloths. Keep washing machine drum door open to dry out so you donât get mold. Overall, accommodation was sufficient for need.
We had an amazing time. The house is set up perfectly for families and even pets. House eas clean and organized. Sonya is a great host. She took the time to communicate with us before our stay. Super helpful information about the house and the Bastrop area was provided. We were even allowed to check in a little early. Hope to stay here again and would definitely recommend to anyone.
The online listing did not match the actual propoerty. I had to reach out to coordinate check in; I was never sent instructions. The outside needs a face lift and the inside had cobwebs and dirt. The overall place felt unclean. The linens were not fresh and there were stains on a few of them. We also learned that the water heater was out so we did not have hot water for showers, laundry, etc. I asked the renter for a discount due to these problems with no response or help on the price. I would not recommend renting this property until the propoerty manger or owners fix these issues.
House looked as cute & clean as the pictures described. Great views of the river & awesome fire pit. I will 100% be back when I need a quiet escape the big city again!
The only con I had was the dang gnats! They were EVERYWHERE!
Our crew had a great time relaxing at this lovely cabin on the river. We brought my 14 year old daughter and her friends for a birthday celebration. Everyone had a great time checking out the wildlife (we saw a beautiful owl!), enjoying s'mores around the firepit, and exploring the shops on Main St. in Bastrop. Sonya was a great host and checked in with us prior to our visit to ensure everything was setup to our liking. Check-in and check-out was a breeze! Would definitely recommend this great gem to folks looking for a place to relax and unwind.
We loved our stay here. We had everything we needed at this little gem on the river. Unfortunately the recent rains kept us from kayaking and fishing like we had wanted, but we will likely be back to visit again and give it another shot. The beds were comfortable. We ate out some and cooked some. The location and amenities served both well. The back yard has excellent shade and the fenced in area is great if you had little ones or pets. We did not this time. We also enjoyed sitting out on the back patio at night. Until we needed the store or a restaurant we forgot how close to town we were, it was very quiet. We had such a great time hanging out here after the Mud Girl Races.
This place was just incredible. The inside of the house is super clean and beautifully decorated with so many options for sleeping arrangements and so much seating for the whole group. The outside is incredibly beautiful and very well maintained. There's a fence surrounding the huge yard and that is just amazing if you've got kids or dogs. The patio was our favorite place because it's spacious and the view is very peaceful.
It's surprisingly close to the city. Less than a 10 minute drive to any amenities you need, including the cute downtown area.
Sonya, the host, was very responsive and helpful. An amazing host, to say the least.
Hands down, the perfect place to stay if you're in the area.
Cons:
Not what we expected. Terrifying experience if you have a phobia for roaches. They came from under the floors and crown molding. They were everywhere. We had to buy poison. Families with Small kids beware, there's poison ivy all over the property. Fridge wasn't working properly. AC window unit in master was very loud right next to the bed. Over all cleanliness of the house is not up to par. Not the best place for fishing with all the overgrown vegetation on the river access.
Pros.
Dog friendly. Big fenced in yard, easy access to the river. Large property with lots of shade. Property owner very responsive. Great place for kayaking
This property was a great getaway for my family and I from Houston. The house was equipped with the basic essentials for what you need. The property was right on the river so it was great for fishing and just hanging out to enjoy the view. We even saw a deer crossing the river. Where they are located is not so great for swimming but we drove to the park, about a 5 minute drive, where they have a beach entrance to river and water is much more shallow and visible (there are snakes. It's the river.). We also did a kayak rental at this park which we all enjoyed too. The only thing that could have made this property better was having an extra portable ac unit or extra fans. The master had its own window unit so it was very cool but the rest of the house was a bit warm. During the day the house temp was comfortable and we were outdoors most of the day anyway. But if you like it cold when you sleep, you might be uncomfortable. We also enjoy bbqing and used the grill slate that was on firepit but an actual grill would be nice. The firepit takes a lot longer to cook but the food still came out great. Linens are provided but bring your own beach towels. Sonya was an excellent and responsive host. Check in and out was super easy. All in all , I would highly recommend this property and my family and I would love to return in the future.
The place has a lot of potencial but it was not clean, a lot of dust and dead bugs the furniture was in bad shape we couldnât seat in the porch due to wisp nests in the windows and rust chairs and table, no remote control for the tv We had to leave one day earlier because the dust gave us allergies and there were a lot of ants in the kitchen
I am a real estate broker that has lived in Bastrop County for over 30 years. I am also a wife and mother, so together you get a whole family working together to manage our property. My daughter Merry takes great care of making guests feel welcome, preparing the home with me before each guest arrives. She always asks who is coming, and asks earnestly when a guest leaves if they left a review. She loves to know if she can make your stay more comfortable.
This was my father's "dream house" when I was a teenager. When this hit the market, I bought it for him to move to. He stayed here for a while, but didn't like living alone. Our oversized family moved here during a transition in 2013. We said it was only temporary, but stayed until the 2015 floods. After the flood, we raised the house and remodeled. We still love our river-adventure house!
We love the river views. My kids love traipsing over the large lot and down to the river. They didn't mind the mud or the steep embankments or the occasional snake they would meet and made good use of canoes and kayaks. I also miss how close to town everything is! And the neighborhood is very quiet. We would often walk to town or to school.
