The property was wonderful! Beautiful view of the water. Charming setting with amazing and private gardens. The owners live in the main house next door and were very welcoming. Exceeded our expectations in every way.
Very short drive into Friday Harbor. Beautiful view of the sound. Clean nice property. The only negative was spotty WiFi. Could be because of their location. Short drive to cattle point and American camp national park. Very enjoyable!!
A wonderful home to relax in, with the description and pictures matching what we experienced. The owners were helpful, yet also let us be. Close to Friday Harbor and the American Side of the National Historic Site. Easy access to the rest of the island. Perfect!
Wonderful country escape with great view and hosts
The cottage was the perfect place for a wonderful get away on San Juan Island. Mary is a very creative artist and has decorated the cottage beautifully and provided absolutely everything we needed for our stay. The gardens are filled with fantastic flowers and the patio and view are a great place to enjoy meals.
We hope to return soon!
Private cottage with sea views that provide a peaceful way to explore SanJuan Island. Hiking, birding, exploring, wildlife viewing, gazing and relaxing were the activities we enjoyed while staying in this wonderful cottage.
Our seven day stay at Mary and Fredâs garden cottage was amazing and so were our hosts. The house was perfect and had all we needed. I cooked every day and it was so wonderful to have everything in a kitchen I needed to prepare our meals. The bed, pillows, and sheets were the best which made a for wonderful nights sleep!
We had a wonderful experience staying here! The property was stunningly beautiful and immaculately kept, with a beautiful view of the water. Everything was clean, comfy, and relaxing. Fred and Mary went out of their way to provide plenty of information about activities, restaurants, places to go/directions. There were a couple of hiccups with communication after we got there, but otherwise it was a lovely stay. Can't recommend enough (especially the hot tub).
Beautiful views, wonderful cottage, and friendly/helpful hosts. Exactly as the pictures look. We enjoyed our stay at the cottage and visit to the island.
mary the cottage owner is an artist and the home and grounds are a work of art with flower gardens and sited on a hill overlooking the San Juan straight and olympic mountains . hope to visit again in the future James and susan
Warm and eclectic cottage with a sense of privacy created by abundant plantings. Well behaved horses, dogs, and cats were a delight to interact with. Excellent resources for exploring the island provided by the hosts with very helpful recommendations.
My stay at the cottage was perfect. The cottage itself is beautiful, immaculately clean, and perfectly equipped. The location is fantastic and the property owners are both wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the patio and overlooking the sea at sunset. I very much look forward to returning for another stay hopefully sometime soon.
This is the third time we have stayed at this property, and have always been pleased with everything about it, location, amenities, etc.
It has a view of Haro Straight and Canada and orca whales can be seen from the property when they are in the area.
I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay on San Juan Island
We had a fantastic time in this beautiful and well-appointed home. Exquisite attention to detail, very well equipped with million dollar views. Thank you
What a beautiful and unexpected little gem tucked away off the main road with stunning views of the ocean. This is definitely one our top favorites for places to stay!! The charm is highlighted throughout the cottage in all of the little details. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. â€
This cottage is beautiful and has so many thoughtful touches (heated bathroom floor, for example!) that make it very comfortable and cozy. We especially loved the little gas heater/fireplace. Comfortable beds. Mary and Fred are excellent and generous hosts and allowed us to store our bikes in their garage. Overall a lovely stay in the beautiful countryside.
Mary and Fred were wonderful hosts! Had a chance to spend time with them. Delightful people! Generous and unobtrusive! The cottage is very nice and the pictures are very true to how it looks live. Comfortable and well appointed! Nice views of Haro Strait and Vancouver Island. Easy 10 minute drive from Friday Harbor!
We had a lovely week staying here. Cottage is very comfortable- hosts thought of everything. Beautiful views. Ideally thereâd be a little more separation between the cottage and the hostâs home but we knew this was the situation when we made the reservation- and the hosts were very good about respecting our privacy. Would definitely recommend.

Mary is an artist (painter) with her studio on site and also enjoys gardening, interior design, music, baking and riding her horses. Fred is a local CPA with a Friday Harbor practice. Both have traveled extensively in Mexico, Europe, North and East Africa, The Middle East, Japan, New Zealand, Croatia and Egypt. Both of us are from Yakima in eastern Washington state,. We love meeting new people and look forward to helping you make the most out of your visit to San Juan Island.
This property is a sunny location facing south west and is brighter than other parts of the island, as it is not in a forest. It mainly free of mosquitoes., due to the the ocean breezes. You can feel the expanse of the skies, the sea, the mountains and the fields.
I was drawn to this property due to the expansive views and open spaces. I liked the fields that surround the area. It reminded me a little of Eastern Washington state where I am from. I also liked that it was not heavily forested and was bright and sunny and felt optimistic even on cloudy days. I enjoy watching the sea as it goes from blue to pink to gray with foamy surf on top of the waves when it changes from calm to stormy. You can hear the waves crashing on a stormy day.
