The Cottage by the Pond is conveniently located up a short hill near the old mill pond and a lovely town park maintained by the Rockport Garden Club. It is a short walk to the town beach and a moderate walk to shops, galleries and restaurants. The cottage is delightful with an interesting family history going back generations. We recommend sitting on the screen porch and watching sailboats in the bay (over rooftops). Just idyllic.

Hello Todd: We are so pleased that you and your partner enjoyed staying at Cottage on the Pond. Our entire family enjoyed staying here because of the privacy, screened porch with views to the ocean and spacious backyard. The beautiful old mill pond has now been restored as is the walking bridge so with this vast improvement the picturesque lane is now pristine for walks and a good read by the pond. Hope you will plan to spend your next get away with us to restore and rejuvenate. We will replenish the wood for the fireplace, stock your favorite snacks and breakfast items and bring some treats for your cats. We have several weeks still available this season so look forward to seeing you soon. With warm regards, Louise and Karl

Perfect location

We stayed for two weeks with our children and the location was perfect. There is a playground a short walk from the house and the kids loved being able to go there alone. The house is tucked in amongst trees and at the end of the road. So very private and quiet.

Such a Quaint Cottage with Everything you Need!

I can’t say enough about our stay. First of all, location, location, location. Could walk everywhere. Even to the train station, which we took into Salem. The cottage was adorable with a good use of space. They left little touches for us like fresh flowers, wine and even some breakfast food. I can’t think of one thing you need to bring other than your clothes. It was stocked with everything. The views were amazing too. Would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend.

Cozy cottage in a perfect location

Based on prior reviews, we knew the cottage would be charming with fresh flowers and kitchen essentials but that would be an understatement. The kitchen was better stocked than my own kitchen with items such as parchment paper and heart shaped pancake molds. What the other reviews didn’t highlight was the delightful location. The pond provided hours of entertainment as family members fished, watched turtles and looked for bullfrogs. The ocean breeze kept the nights cool and the outdoor seating provided us with spots to read, talk and eat. Very close to the beach and to town. It was wonderful to be able to walk everywhere.

Salem adventure

The cottage was so quaint and cozy, I loved it. It is a cemetery away from the beach, literally. It was peaceful, close to shops, dining all within walking distance. Karl and Louise were very nice and easily reached when I had a question. I felt very welcomed by them, she left a nice card to welcome us along with some welcoming goodies. The best touch were the fresh vases of cut flowers. I hope to come back, next time with my husband to relax and explore the beautiful area. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Lovely cottage by the sea!

This is the quintessential cottage by the sea, with a bonus large backyard overlooking a pond, in an adorable, quintessential NE seaside village. If that isn’t enough, your choices are to sit on screened front porch and look at the ocean or the backyard by the fire pit overlooking the pond. The location is amazing....block from Front Street beach. We rolled the 1 and 3 year old grand babies in a beach buggy down to the beach and all the shops and restaurants. The house is fully equipped for your stay...beach towels, chairs, blender, dishes, etc. And the owner couldn’t be more accommodating! You will be greeted with fresh flowers in several rooms and staples to get you started on your stay. I will be returning for sure!

A Perfect Cottage!

Loved the hospitality, cottage and location! We can't say enough about the hosts, and their beautiful, immaculate home. The cottage was so comfortable, quiet and relaxing. The location was superb (ample parking and just a walk....) to key areas of Rockport, while enjoying both the pond and the ocean at the same time. We also loved listening to the frogs in the evening hours from the screened in porch, what a treat! While the kitchen was fully stocked to cook with all its' amenities, and we were generously provided some essentials (thank you Louise!), we had some lovely dining in and around Rockport (My Place by the Sea = excellent), and in Gloucester, which is a short drive away (LOVED 1606 Restaurant and Oyster Bar at the Beauport Hotel)... we also had opportunities to buy some local art to add to our collection, and it was so fun to see and be around all the area had to offer. Thanks so much for a great stay and for making us feel welcomed, we'll be back for sure, oooh and the beautiful fresh flowers in and around the cottage made our stay extra special, these cannot go without a shout-out, the flowers were amazing and so very thoughtful. Thanks so much! Karen & Tommy
