Beautiful, Charming, Historic 2BR Cottage-Yard/Patio-Blocks To Beaches/Shops-OB
Enjoy the vintage charm and venerable character of this beautiful & historic Ocean Beach cottage. This lovely 1920s Craftsman-Style Bungalow located in the heart of Ocean Beach is a certified historical landmark and was one of the very first cottages built in OB! Updates have been done where needed but most everything is original.
The house and lavishly landscaped property have been meticulously maintained and cared for. The house has two full levels and you will have access to the entire main level/top floor complete with two bedrooms; one with a queen Sealy Posturepedic bed and the other with a full size. The bathroom has a large tub and shower available. There is a sunny, cozy living room with comfortable seating, built-in bookcases, and a gas fireplace. The ample vintage kitchen with breakfast nook features a fully functional 1940s Chambers gas stove for all your cooking needs. Built-in cabinetry offers plenty of space for your food items and a large sink with garbage disposal aids in making clean-up a cinch. There is a mudroom between the kitchen and back deck for hanging coats and removing shoes. Relax on the front porch, back deck, garden, or patio area complete with al fresco dining. Delight in a peaceful moment in the swing chairs hanging in the shade of the 50-year-old Japanese Red Pine tree while butterflies and hummingbirds flutter about. Or barbecue on the Weber gas grille surrounded by a gorgeous fenced-in yard with fruit trees, grapevines, native cacti, succulents, and other indigenous flora. Enjoy the convenience of the outdoor laundry area.
The property is just blocks from several beaches including a local "secret" spot. Hit the shops and bars, grab brunch, or dine in one of the dozens of wonderful restaurants on and around Newport Ave. Stroll or take in the sunset on Ocean Beach Pier. And...don't forget to check out the OB Farmer's Market & Street Fair every Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 pm!

The house is just minutes from Sunset Cliffs, Point Loma, the Airport, Sea World, Cabrillo Monument, Seaport Village, Liberty Public Market, Belmont Park, San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park, etc. - We are also very close (walkable) to shopping, restaurants, bars, coffee shops & countless other attractions.
*Please note that there is a small studio unit located on the lower, garden level. This is completely separate and self-contained with its own private entrance and patio area. There is no shared space inside of the house and you cannot access the lower level unit from inside, and vice versa. You can only enter each unit through its respective and allocated entrance. The only shared amenities are the gas grille and laundry area.
**Further note that the lower level unit can also be rented. Check with the host for availabilty.

Perfect option in the OB. Quaint and rustic, it truly felt like we were locals. The house was very comfortable and full of character. Easy walking to all the amenities and the beach. The host, Brenden, was proactive, responsive, we could not fault him at all.

My husband I were visiting our daughter and chose this location based on her recommendation. This is our favorite of the areas we have stayed when visiting because of the local rather than tourist feel. It is walkable to lots of restaurants, bars, and the beach. The house itself was perfect for us. Beds were comfortably firm, and we really enjoyed the outdoor fenced in patio area.

Lovely and charming
This historic cottage is lovely! We had a wonderful stay and the property was clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed and Brenden is an excellent host. The cottage is very charming and the backyard space is private and cozy. The neighborhood is awesome. Easy walks to great coffee shop, restaurants, and tide pools. We will definitely be staying here again on future trips.

Excellent OB Bungalow
We have been to several VRBO rentals over the years but we thoroughly enjoyed the OB bungalow. The comfort, close proximity to shopping, restaurants and especially the beach, (which were all walking distances), the value and the historic significance all contributed to the awesome stay.Reserving was fast and straightforward, check-in was simple, entering the premises was a breeze and our host went all out with his communication and care for our comfort.We have bookmarked this bungalow for future visits!

Ocean Beach Historic Cottage
The cottage was very cute and the description is accurate. It is old and vintage. Very convenient to the town, shopping, restaurants and beach. We walked everywhere.The best thing was Brenden, our host. He was fantastic. Check in was a breeze, he brought us fresh apples picked from the many fruit trees on the property. Any question we had he was quick to answer. He couldn't have been kinder or more accommodating. Definitely the host with the most.We went for a girls long weekend. The cottage is not fancy, but it was clean and comfortable and convenient and the 1948 Vintage Stove was so cool. I definitely recommend Brenden and his historic cottage.

Expedia Should Not Allow Listings without Completed House Access Manuals to be rented
Host forgot to give instructions to access the property. Expedia canceled /refunded my reservation the next morning when they could not reach the host either. From my tour of the property after the fact: Historical cottage charm; old energy and vibes. Coffee available. Beds/pillows comfortable, but not adequate space to open a carry-on and unpack. Living room / seating area okay; sofa needs to be larger than a loveseat. Kitchen is adorable with original gas stove and ocean view. Do not stay at this property if you enjoy pristine bathroom conditions / a showering experience--a lot to be done there. Original glass and windows are charming, but if you are HSP, have misophonia, or any kind of noise sensitivity not stay at this cottage b/c it is in airlines flight path from 600am until late-night. Property is full of beautiful vegetation, fruit trees, raised beds, birds. Ocean view from balcony off the kitchen. Cottage is walkable to beach and the main drag

My apologies for this guest’s inconvenience. This is not the way I operate my rentals. There is an explanation. Although I am new to Vrbo, I have been a Superhost on Airbnb for 10 years and never had a situation like this. There are a few reasons why this happened and I’ll explain. First, this is a brand new listing, and the welcome guide had not been completely filled out yet. I did not realize the listing had gone live without this information. Second, I typically do not have to send out access codes because my smart locks are synced with the Airbnb platform and are sent out automatically to guests before they check in. Further, this guest arrived late at night, after 2 AM when I was asleep and my phone was off. Typically, this would not be a problem however, I did make the mistake of not realizing that the lock was not synced to Vrbo. This will not happen again. VRBO did call me at 5:30 in the morning and I immediately called them back to explain the situation, right after I contacted this guest.
Regarding statements about the property itself: I’d first like to thank her for providing an honest critique. I value all guests’ opinions and take all feedback very seriously. I do have to disagree with a couple of statements, however. There is certainly enough space to unpack. There are two chairs in addition to the sofa and most guests compliment me on the shower pressure. Lastly, I believe that the cottage is as advertised. It is a vintage, historic beach cottage from 1929.

OB is known for its relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere, attracting a diverse mix of residents, including surfers, artists, musicians, and those seeking a coastal haven away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Further, specific local ordinances have been put in place that prioritize community character, local businesses, and a relaxed, beach-oriented vibe, resisting the encroachment of large chains and maintaining its unique identity. You won’t find any high-rise luxury chain hotels blocking the view of the ocean here with a 30-foot height limit for buildings and structures. This height limit was established to preserve coastal access and differentiate San Diego's shoreline from other cities. Plus, it is centrally located with so many things to do and see whether it’s shopping, dining, drinking, dancing, fishing, boating, hiking, surfing, biking, sunbathing etc
