Good property when you need a place to lay your head in Dayton
The house was perfect for our family to all meet up for our weekend activities. There was plenty of sleep space and enough other space for a cup of coffee and planning things out. We were sad to find out that Tanks was closed, as having a legendary bar close by was a selling point. The neighborhood was fine. There was plenty of on-street parking. The house next door looked uncared for. And the people across the street loved fireworks. But if we needed to come back to Dayton, this place would certainly be considered again.
The property was clean. The only thing I didnât think of is my âold kneesâ and the stairs. Plenty of street parking and room to move around. Not a lot of living room seating so we mostly sat at dining room table. Thank you!
The house is a good size enough bedrooms. Maybe it was closed off for a while it had a musty smell as soon as you entered, which was fixed once we place deodorizers around the house. I only wish that it stated in the description of the house that the bunk beds and second bathroom was in basement and it was really a bit scary for the kids to go sleep down there
This home is located just outside of off campus housing and the owner is updating nicely. The livingroom is small for a large group watching tv or hanging out but the kids (teenagers) were fine sitting on blankets and playing cards. We had 7 in our group 5 teens and everyone had their own space when needed. The location was convient to the Air Force Museum and other attractions we had time to see. The owner was responsive to questions. Easy check in and out instructions.
Great things about our stay. Host was a good communicator. Beds were comfy and clean and curtains were room darkening. Lots of room for my family. Bathrooms were clean!Cons. Neighborhood was on the rough side. We had no issues at all, but just made us feel a bit uneasy. Kitchen area was not cleaned well. Floors were sticky, walls dirty, etc. Could use a bit more seating in the living room as there was lots of bed and rooms for my fam, but not a good place for us all to gather. Overall, it met our needs and check in and out was a breeze and the host was great at communicating.
I booked this place because of the 5-star reviews with a couple commenting on how comfortable the beds were (they were absolutely not comfortable). First, check-in was super stressful. The keypad lock, which should've been set with a four-digit pin was not letting us in. We arrived at 9:45 p.m. and tried numerous times. I tried to call the host with no answer. He called back after 10 minutes and was super apologetic and SO nice. He reset the key pad and after about 10 minutes, it worked. There were no toiletries or hairdryer. It's essentially just an empty house that you need to bring the stuff you need to get ready. Here are the real issues:- The upstairs shower wouldn't drain, so you're standing in water as you're washing up.- The downstairs shower leaks at the wall. - The downstairs bedroom/bathroom door handles are lose and don't close.- The photos online are misleading and strategically don't show the lack of care. It appears this is a new rental and no maintenance has been done. The upstairs bathroom has big patches of missing paint and the ceiling need attention (Wish I could share photos). Walls and door jambs throughout the house need attention. The outside is a wreck. There was a random towel in the front yard, the handrails are rusty. It just looks like a rundown house but you can't tell from the photos. So many of the things could be fixed with a weekend of work in the house. I did bring these issues up with the host and he said he would address them.
