Discovery Bay Beach House

House has water stains on ceiling, back patio kitchen has tile broke all over and BBQ removed with a portable on top. Deck has screw partially popped up all over, very dangerous to bare feet and easy to trip over. Beds are very hard and queen in spare room is actually a full. Cobwebs all over the ceiling, light fixtures and window. Was not quite the house we were expecting from the pictures.

Hi Tracy, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience .We take any issues from our customers experience seriously, and we hope that the steps taken to address your concerns met your expectations. The house had some minor leakage during the winter season due to the heavy storm that hit the area. The leak in the roof has been fixed and the interior has plans to be painted very soon. As for the deck, we replaced the area that needed with new wood and will paint the whole deck soon as well. The outside BBQ station is unequipped, but we provide a high quality Weber Q2200 Liquid Propane Grill with a grill set and propane gas tank for guest use which is stated in the check-in and house orientations sent to guests before trip. Additionally, all of our beds are on the medium to firm side to better support neck, back and spine health also stated in the check-in instructions. The cleaning team cleans cobwebs thoroughly every time, however this is a waterfront house, and when it is unoccupied for couple days, the cobwebs can occasionally re-appear. I welcome you back in the future and hope you will find the house a nicer and better place to stay. Thank you, Kathy

Not for Multiple Couples

Three of us couples were in Discovery Bay for a long extended wedding weekend. We booked in hopes that the pictures didn't tell the whole story...unfortunately it was even worse than we thought. We quickly found out that the house is really meant for one family with kids who can make a mess and not worry. It's not set up for six adults. The shower heads in both bathrooms are so low that anyone over 5ft would need to bend over to get their head wet. The kitchen is poorly stocked with cooking basics...there wasn't even a coffee maker! And last but certainly not least, the downstairs beds were horribly uncomfortable (and small) including the pillows. We spent the weekend enduring the situation knowing it would end soon. Very disappointed.

Not what I expected

Well i have been thinking all day how to rate my stay at this property and all I can really say is that it fit our needs for the weekend. First off if you do not like bugs/spiders do not rent here. I found numerous bugs and spiders throughout the home and the deck upstairs was unusable due to all the spiders webs and bird droppings. The back deck was about the same. I had to clean off all of the chairs outside in order to use them. The home itself was a good use of space but its the little things that make a big difference. There was no toilet paper in the downstairs bathroom, no hand towels or wash clothes in the master bathroom and no trash can in the kitchen. A very old dirty trash compactor was in the kitchen but I was unsure of how to use it and the bag was not in it for reference. Overall my experience was not the best. The photos online make the property seem much nicer than it actually is. The property has the potential to be great with a major clean and update.

Even though the homeowner have at least weekly cleaning scheduled and bi-month pest control in service, some level of insects can be present at this property because of its waterfront location. Loved the home! Looking forward to visiting again!

The house was beautiful. My family and I flew in from out of town to attend a funeral. It was nice for all of us to be able to stay in the same place. The neighbors were very nice. They spoke as though we lived at the home. Since I am one who reads reviews on everything, I decided to list all pros and cons below. Pro's - House has a large, open feel. Perfect for the little ones. The travel high-chairs were very useful and the baby toys were great! - The xbox is a very nice touch, although we didn't play. - Instead we played with the board games which was awesome, since there was plenty of room in main area for us to sit around and play family games. - My 9yr old loved the hammock. It's sturdy, so I was ok with her laying and reading in there. - Carpet was beautiful, felt nice enough to sleep on the floor, although there was no need, since there was enough beds for all of us. - A quiet pass time was the deck out back. It was relaxing. Although it rained the entire time we were there, in between drizzles my dad sat outside relaxing. - There was only one TV, which made family time that much more enjoyable. - Wifi was great for using the internet to work while I was there. - Skid strips in the kitchen reminded us to be careful on the floors. - Bait fridge, I'm sure was so no one would put icky stuff in the fridge, but is a nice touch for those who want to fish. - My favorite part of this house were the windows. Plenty of light and an absolutely breathtaking view at night. It's amazing! - The owner was so genuine and most appreciated. Not only did she allow us to check out late, she sent us a condolence gift. I must say these are things that show an owner cares for more than just money. Which in turn made us check all check out instructions 3 times to ensure we didn't leave anything undone. Cons - The toilets had a weak flush, so we were worried that the kids might poop and clog the toilets. LOL, they didn't, so the toilets were obviously fine. - There was a minor leak while we were there from the massive amount of rain, but the owner was VERY attentive to the issue, so i guess you can say that really wasn't problem either. Matter of fact, no matter what questions I had, the owner was always able to assist in no time. I was very impressed. I would love to come back during the summer, so that I can fish. I rented this house to hide out with some friends before my wedding. My expectations were low but I didn't need much. Even thou I set the bar pretty low the house could not clear it. I arrived in my boat and tied it up (So far so go). I walked up the gangway to find the deck in very bad need of sanding and paint. I would never walk on it with out shoes on. The outdoor kitchen needs to torn down and replaced. At some point I'm sure it was nice but it's missing tiles and is in such a state of disrepair that the owner just needs to start over. Needing to get to the front door I went to the "gate" to walk around the house. The gate almost fell to the ground. I made it through and set back where it was (leaning against the fence). I then walked around to the front door. Inserted the key and push the door. I pushed again. Then one more time. No luck. Making sure it was unlocked I put my shoulder it it. It finally opened. OK. I'm in Off to the kitchen. Flip the switch for the lights. About 20% of the lights worked. I then looked at the floor. There is nonslip tape on the floor. OK, Waterfront home. People come in with wet feet I get it until I walk across the floor. My shoes stuck to the floor like someone spilled a coke and just left it there. At this point some of my friends got there. Good friends, They brought beer. I opened a cabinet to get a glass and found a few mismatched glasses. We had no plans to cook so I never looked for anything cooking related. I'm sure it was all Martha Stewart high class stuff. Fast forward to the morning. I was told if I wanted to take a shower upstairs I should plan on about a 1/2 hour due to the lack of water pressure. Heeding that warning I used the 1970's bathroom downstairs. (Here's the good part of the review) The water pressure was great. While showering I notice at least one missing tile. There's more but I running out of space. The best part of this house was leaving on my boat never to return.

Beautiful weekend in the bay

Beautiful weekend in the bay. Home is need of major repair inside & out,. There was mold on ceiling where it has leaked in the family room and the outside bar was unusable in its current condition. The deck & dock ramp needs to be replaced, it’s dangerous... inside was clean, but the outside area was very dirty and covered in spider webs, broken umbrellas ext. we worked cleaning the outside for 1 1/2 days if our stay cleaning the outside making it presentable to use. but we had a wonderful time, just being on the water is amazing... Mornings sunrises breath taking & gorgeous sunsets!!!

Linda, the homeowners go above and beyond to provide their guests with a five-star experience at their beautiful waterfront home, and we understand they offered you both early check-in, late check-out, and allowed you to host a large family reunion without any additional charges. They repaired the deck and dock ramp last year with brand new chains on the sides for safety. The leaking was completely unexpected and we apologize for that inconvenience. They've done multiple repairs on the roof and we are confident that situation will not recur. We're glad to hear the home was clean inside. We're sorry the outside was not spotless; however, at waterfront properties, it's common for cobwebs to appear from time to time. This is a beautiful well supplied house.

Spacious and comfortable home with beautiful views. Nicely landscaped with a spectactular deck offering great views of the bay. The perfect place for a family get together. Watch out for the toaster.

Very beautiful and serene home in Discovery Bay!

The home was beautiful and the scenery was amazing! The neighborhood was also very peaceful and quiet. We felt right at home with the coziness of everything right at our disposal. I would definitely stay here again.

Would Not Ever Consider Again

None of the outdoor patio lights worked, one of the bedroom doors was locked and a locksmith had to come open it which took around 5-6 hours. The kitchen sink smelled rancid. The air conditioning took several hours to reach the temperature we set it to. All the kitchenware was dirty. Spider webs all around the windowsills. Smaller than in the pictures. Bunk beds kind of slant to the side.

Johnny, thank you for taking the time to let us know about the issues that arose during your trip. The homeowner did have a locksmith to come on the day of check-in to fix the access issue to the one bedroom and apologizes as there was a bulb out on the porch, extras are easily available in the closet. The A/C does take a bit time on a hot summer day to cool down the big two-story house. The owner has also since fixed any issue that was present with the bed frame. Cleanliness is one of our 4 Core Property Standards and we have shared this feedback with the owner so they can make any necessary adjustments. The stay was outstanding!

Check in was a piece of cake. The house was sparkling clean an well equipped. Beds are really comfortable and blankets smelled really fresh. The restrooms were well equipped with clean towels and, shampoo and tissue. Loved the view and the neighborhood. The kitchen is a plus and was equipped with everything we need for our stay. Waterfront, beautiful home!!

Can’t say enough about this beautiful, clean, large home! The views were breath taking of the water and scenery!!! Our family of 5 loved every second of our stay, Kathy our host was always just a text away and very welcoming! We loved it so much we booked a extra night! Great fishing trip for our spring break!!!

Magnificent waterfront view!

The house was spacious and beautiful. The deck area was incredibly large with lots of seating to enjoy the majestic water view. We appreciated the fully equipped kitchen. Sleeps 7 comfortably, but more than that will find themselves on the couch. Sleeper sofas or portable beds would be a nice addition. Even so, we loved our stay and would recommend and visit this Discovery Bay house again!

Good location, close to fast water

This is a very nice house located about 10 minutes from fast water. Beautiful location with a beautiful sunrise view. The house is a little tired but the owner/property manager is very nice and willing to fix any problems. The kitchen is nicely stocked with dishes, silverware, cooking utensils. We really liked the deck as it did not get the hot afternoon sun. After being on the water all day it was very relaxing sitting on the large deck enjoying a glass of wine. We ate all of our meals on the deck. The neighbor's charming, elderly Chihuahua, Violet would visit us every afternoon - mostly looking for food but we enjoyed her visits. We had a great time and would recommend this house.

Discovery Bay Rental House

We are two families with 4 kids total and just completed a short 5 day getaway and had a wonderful time. The property accommodated 1 family ski boat and 1 bass boat with the dock set up. Had power outlet to charge up batteries. The owner has to be one of the nicest people I've ever had the privilege of talking too. She was also very accommodating to our needs as well. Back patio was a nice place to hang out, have a drink and enjoy the weather. Launch Ramp was few minutes from home. Also nice steak restaurant, shopping and other amenities just down the road. Would highly recommend this house for anyone.

Great House & Location on Discovery Bay

We decided to stay here while in the area for a trade show. It was way better than staying at a hotel close to the show venue. The house was great and offered everything we needed after working long days at the trade show. It has easy access to the fishing opportunities that Discovery Bay has to offer. Unfortunately we were not able to fish during this stay but will be back! The property Is comfortable, clean and ideal for business travelers or families. The owner was great with communication and had all the details taken care of before and during our stay. We will certainly stay here again when in the area.

Fabulous Home for after New Year stay!!!

I booked this place with my sister’s family to celebrate my Mom’s birthday right after the New Year. We were debating if we should give this place a try by considering some of the previous negative reviews, especially worried about the pillow issue and shower head height (all men in our group are over 6ft). But after compare the availability in the area and the needs for kids, we decided to try this place. We are extremely happy that we made the right decision! This place is perfect for our gang of 6 adults and 4 kids. The house is very clean and organized, more than enough cookware, dinnerware, glassware, and dishtowels which are all located in kitchen drawers and cupboards, easy to locate. A lot of kitchen counter space, very convenient to make meals for both families. The 12-cup of coffee machine is satisfying and we love the latte maker too! We appreciate the openness and spaciousness of the house which is not cluttered like many other rentals; kids had fun running around, playing with toys, board games, XBOX, and mammock while we sat around watching them or read books. Both of the showerheads have been raised and replaced with multi-functional 3-way 2 in 1 showerheads, which absolutely made all husbands and grandpa very happy. Total 12 pillows are in the house with each covered by pillow protector. There are softer ones, firmer ones and memory foam pillows, so everyone found their favorites. Extra pillow cases, comforters, blankets and quilts are easily found in the bedroom closets. Extra soap bars, TP, facial tissue, bath towels are easily located in bathroom drawers or outside shelves. The beds are firmer than most of the vacation rentals I have been, which I like because of my back pain. We all loved the fireplace too. With easy read and follow instruction, we light the fireplace in seconds. The house is super warm, welcoming and comfortable. Besides all of these, owner gets in touch with us from the beginning to the end, making sure we had everything we need in the house and are satisfied throughout. I have booked many vacation rentals on both VRBO and Airbnb for families, had to say this place is one of the best with top quality housing supplies/amenities and superior customer service. Cannot wait to come back for kids spring break and summer vacation!

Personal touch

The house is a beautiful space with an excellent layout for having many people over to enjoy the water. The dock is right off the back deck! Most importantly, the owners of the property were wonderful to deal with. They were easily reachable for any issues which came up and worked diligently to make sure the home was comfortable for me and my guests. Highly recommended
