We spent a four day weekend at this property and found it was exactly what we needed.
Great location
Clean
Reasonably priced
We will be back again for sure
Check in was easy. House is clean, roomy, cozy and warm (especially w using the pellet stove!) with essential amenities. Laundry and pet friendly a plus. Very close to snowmobile/ATV trails. We were able to get up and leave right from the property. Bruce was responsive and very helpful. Would stay here again!
Lots of parking, clean, 6 beds in 4 bedrooms - you could squeeze 14 people if you needed to. Reliable internet connection for Roku on a large flat screen or if you need to use the internet for anything on your device. I only saw or heard the surrounding neighbors twice and then it was only because I went out to my car late in the evening to grab something. I'll definitely be back when I visit the area.
We had a great time visiting with family. The kitchen was well stocked. The house was huge so we had plenty of room to visit with our family and cook for them. Unfortunately it was hot and humid and the one ceiling fan didnât work but there were box fans to help circulate the air around but they were noisy. Also some of the light fixtures didnât work and we had to improvise with lighting to be able to play cards. But overall it was a great place to have our little group gather to visit, ear and play cards.
Our stay was nice and the check in was easy . Very small town for a weekend getaway. Plenty of beds and we felt at home. Well stay again for our upper Michigan visit.
This is an ideal place for hunters, sightseers but mostly snowmobilers. Rustic, perfectly located but nothing fancy. The unit probably should have been cleaned a little better before our visit, as there were a fair amount of ceiling/corner/baseboard cobwebs with flies in them. If you're a neatnik or clean freak, you'd probably struggle a bit here, at least as we found it (I'm a Finn with generational roots in Mass City, so am used to things being on the rustic side). Also, even though clearly stated in the listing, it might prove to be a real issue for some when it comes to having to take your garbage with you when you leave. There were three of us and we only produced a single bag of trash during our 4-day stay, so we managed. Large groups, if they were to actually follow the rules, would have a hard time packing out several bags of garbage, especially if travelling in fully packed cars and not trucks hauling trailers. Out of the blue the water heater leaked from the pressure valve on our last day so we had a little water management issue to deal with, but not the end of the world - we managed. The soft subfloor just inside bathroom doorway suggests this may be an ongoing issue. PM communication was timely, no issues. Check-in a breeze, door code worked with no problem.
My boyfriend and I stayed in the U.P. for 5 night and the property was definitely bigger than what we needed but worked well for us. Mostly we were just there to sleep and shower as we were out adventuring most of the days were there. Definitely would work very well for any type of trail riding you enjoy.
Good snowmobile rider house. Many bunk beds. Owner was excellent to work with. Located in small town and close to gas station and grocery store. Yard is big enough for large family get together. Overall a great place.
This house is more of a bunkhouse for large groups of people. 4 bedrooms with lots of beds in each room and 1 bathroom. It has a nice large entry area to dry off wet clothes for snowmobilers/ skiers etc. and a washer and dryer is a nice bonus. The pellet fireplace is nice.. crazy and shows off a lot of heat if you want it. There are extras for cooking, crock pot, waffle iron etc.
My only complaint was there were too many air fresheners around the house.. very strong
Bruce was very prompt in reply to my texts.
It was a good location for us to go hiking in Copper Harbor and Porcupine State Park.
Nice house for a weekend getaway. Well furnished with necessities. Clean, comfortable beds.

Mass City property
My review of the 1341 Turner St Mass City house.
The house is in good repair and easy to find, a block off the main highway. It sleeps 10-12 easily, quite a hunting cabin. The main hit on the house is the stairway. The steps are shallow and steep. Clearly not to modern code. However with care, they are quite manageable. The kitchen is well equipped with odds and ends and assorted pots and pans. The one missing piece I would very much have liked to have seen is an old-fashioned stovetop teakettle. I realize you can heat water up in many ways but I prefer a teakettle for my tea and my instant oatmeal each morning.
The Mass City location is very convenient to the Porcupine mountains, Houghton and the Keweenaw Peninsula.
Mass City is a very stereotypical rundown U P town. Some of its buildings appear as if they will blow down in the next windstorm. Yet, most of the homes are quite nice and the people are genuinely friendly. They have a very wonderful little grocery store where everything appeared to be quite delicious.
The owner of the home, Bruce Witte, is very easy to get along with and to do business with. I enjoyed my stay and if ever I needed I would happily stay there again.
Spent 2 days at this place. Quite A few activities in the area. We visited adventure mine and drove out to the porcupine mountains. The OHV trail goes through the town, very convenient. House is older with quite a few updates, great for larger groups with lots of beds. I would have no problem staying here again.
Convenient location and practical house for your UP Adventure. House is clean and beds are comfortable. Washer and dryer came in handy after hiking the mud trail to O Kun de Kun Falls (don't do it). Pellet stove is cool. Nice to have a place where your dawg is welcome.
Great little place close to the gas station and snowmobile trails! Sleeps a good amount of people, fully stocked kitchen, and I loved the pellet stove. Mass city is a great spot because its a little trail HUB and you can go in any direction.
Very adequate for a place to stay for outdoors-people
This is not a five star hotel, but then that's not what we were looking for. It's attractive and not run-down-- some recently upgrades have been done. It had a large entry room to put a bunch of stuff, an adequate kitchen, dining, family, and one bathroom that were all nice. The beds were comfortable. There is no central air conditioning which was compensated by window cooling units. There was a large screen TV with cable, but no internet. This building was older-- the main floor slanted a bit, but it was nice. It was just what we were looking for as a place to stay for my family of 7 for a few days while we hiked the Porcupine Mountains and canoed the Ontonagon River.

We originally bought the property with friends of ours, because of our love of snowmobiling and rented it out when we were not using the property. Over the years we have found out many guests come up for summer vacations, viewing the Fall Colors and much more. An added attraction to the area is the growing of the UTV/ATV trail usage, so it has become a year round rental.
This property is located in the snow belt for guaranteed snow every year for snowmobiling, skiing and snowshoeing. The property is also located on the snowmobile and ATV trail, Gas is 2 blocks away and grocery 1 block away. Many other attractions within 30-60 miles of the property, including the Porcupine Mt. State Park, Lake Superior and Copper Harbor. Many guests also come up in October to view the Fall colors and during the summer to enjoy water falls and everything the UP has to offer, call us today for more information!
