À propos de cet hébergement
Historic and exclusive duplex apartment Ile Saint Louis Island "Reine Blanche"
Located on the 3rd floor of a 17th century building, this large duplex unit offers a unique loft on two levels in one of Paris's most exclusive neighborhoods. This gorgeous duplex one bedroom loft apartment in Paris is a perfect private retreat on the Ile St Louis and will comfortably welcome three guests.
The bedroom comes with a king size bed and a pull-out sofa bed located in the open area, a fully equipped kitchen on the lower level, washing machine, central heating and so much more... A 400 years old stair case connects both levels of the unit and code restrictions prevent us from putting a ramp in order to protect the historic value of the feature.
The quaint decor and historic atmosphere make it the perfect retreat guests looking to immerse themselves in the charm of secret Paris.
Large windows allow the sun in and centuries old tiles are the witnesses of lives and times gone by...
Fall in love with the city and enjoy the magic the Island has to offer.
Now, a little bit of history of our building and its location...
Historically, the Ile Saint-Louis was not inhabited like its neighboring Ile de la Cité (where Cathedral Notre-Dame stands) until the 17th century. Prior to its development, the island was used for grazing cattle and as a lumberyard. The island's transformation began with a meticulously planned layout, which remains preserved to this day.
The wealthiest Parisians of the time were drawn to the island’s tranquil setting, seizing the opportunity to build their grand mansions and small palaces. This is when our building was erected and its historic staircase assembled. The staircase depicted in the pictures is several centuries old and is listed today as a historic landmark.
The Ile Saint-Louis, often celebrated for its upscale reputation as a haven for millionaires and celebrities seeking seclusion, is actually a charming and tranquil enclave within Paris. Despite its prestigious image, the island exudes a welcoming, village-like atmosphere where friendly merchants greet you by name and value personal connections.
One of Ile Saint-Louis’ most captivating features is its picturesque streets, lined with elegant 17th-century townhouses. These buildings, adorned with intricate facades and delicate wrought-iron balconies, stand as a testament to the architectural splendor of the period. Strolling through the narrow, cobble stoned streets, visitors are transported to a bygone era, immersed in the island’s historical charm.
Beyond its architectural allure, the Ile Saint-Louis is steeped in cultural and artistic heritage. The island has long been a sanctuary for artists, writers, and musicians seeking inspiration from its serene environment. Today, it continues to foster creativity, with numerous art galleries and quaint boutiques dotting its streets. These establishments showcase the talents of local artisans and offer visitors a chance to experience the island’s vibrant artistic spirit.
From Charles Baudelaire and scientist Marie Curie to the painter Émile Bernard and composer Frédéric Chopin, the island continues to serve as a refuge for Artists and draws contemporary actors and musicians seeking inspiration.
A leisurely walking tour of the island reveals plaques near various buildings commemorating these illustrious residents. Notable locations include Émile Bernard’s residence at 15 Quai de Bourbon, sculptor Camille Claudel’s home at 19 Quai de Bourbon, and a tribute to Chopin at the Polish Library at 6 Quai d’Orléans, among other historical markers scattered across the island.
Our building is extremely quiet and other families live here. Reine Blanche is an exceptional location reserved to a happy few.
In essence, the Ile Saint-Louis offers a unique blend of historical grandeur, artistic vibrancy, and a warm, community-oriented atmosphere, making it a distinct and cherished gem in the heart of Paris.
