I must say this property is centrally located which makes it accessible to nearly everything youâd need within walking distance. I barely speak Spanish but the staff still made it there priority to aid me. This property does has a door man who allows access so if your looking for a place where you donât want to bother with irritating a door man cause of your late night partying, this is not the place Iâd recommend. But if you want the added security itâs the place to go. Toilet need a hold on the flush handle so everything goes down but besides that Iâd stay here again and would recommend it for those wanting a more secure slow pace of a stay. Lovely art all around.
Apartment was as advertised - a large one-bedroom, comfortable and centrally located. Lots of windows make it bright, although the corner bedroom can get a bit noisy at night. It's part of the excellent location in the middle of the action - this place is close to everything. The kitchen is very basic, but good enough for easy meals or dishing out take-out. The rooftop deck is perfect for watching the sunset.
The location is perfect in the heart of the walled city . The AC works and shower is hot , not to be taken for granted !
There were a few minor things to be taken care of but overall very good choice .
Very noisey at night because of the street crowds. Nothing much this apartment can do about that. Just bring good ear plugs especially on the weekend. Very central and well located with good access to ALL that Centro has to offer.
I loved the place despite its tiredness. Needs a lift except for floor boards which already are lifted, especially in the bedroom. WiFi wouldnât work but help came asap to fix it and anything else necessary.
It was frustrating that the doormen spoke not a word of English and I no Spanish. Everyone was accommodating and as helpful as possible which was minimal with the language barrier. They did find an English speaking guide for me.
The terrace was lovely. Indoor pool not great, very small to swim in. Good for kids. It would have been nice if the terrace had a proper pool instead of a jacuzzi .
All the people were friendly. A highlight was dancing along with Aldo as he came to show me something in the room.
Curiously from the fact that they spoke no English, they had English Netflix.
I met a woman from Bogota who owned an apt there which is significant in expressing what the place was like.
I would return in a minute.
Amazing apartment. The location is prime that is if you do not mind the street noise which I do not. If I chose to stay in Centro I know I'm ready to deal with the street noise. But the apartment is very nicely set up. Spacious interior. All essentials are available. The window patio was my favorite location. My only issue was the slowness of the WIFI. I could barely get on work calls and any video conferencing calls, would not work. So that was a bummer big time. The host really needs to step up the WIFI speed. Also, another negative I did not like was that visitors were not allowed after 10 pm. I specifically messaged the Host before booking if guests/.visitors were allowed and he said, yes, so long they had ID and we were not having a party. To my greatest dismay, the security guards especially this one taller older gentleman would not let my guests in after 10 pm. and these were my friends (gringos) not working folks. I was very disappointed. So you are warned. Apart from that, I loved the apartment and rooftop terrace which had a jacuzzi and plenty of space. Just remember you need to reserve it ahead of time for a max of 2 hours.
Overall a very nice apartment, although I do have several comments. Depending on the time of day it can be difficult to get to even for a taxi as police block off certain streets to vehicular traffic. I understand the need for a firm mattress, but the bed was like sleeping on a stone slab. Also the ceiling fan needs adjustment as it wobbles, and some of the floor wooden tiles are loose. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils but there wasn't any hot water for washing dishes. My biggest complaint was the street intersection the apartment overlooks. Apparently some local Hip-Hop enthusiats have taken up residence in that intersection. In the past I can either take Hip-Hop or leave it. Now, due to these persons, I absolutely hate Hip-Hop.
This is about as good as you get for a location in the historical district. The apartment is big and beautifully situated on second story corner with windows and balconies with great views. Building is older but classic and well preserved. Donât expect perfection, a parquet floor tile loose here a cabinet knob broken there. Nothing big but itâs not a 4 star new hotel. Security is great. The doormen are so nice and helpful (Spanish is useful). The famous hard bed I just loved and was great on my bad back. This is a great place for a couple, romantic location. AC worked well. Laundry downstairs. Directions are hard for Taxiâs so print up details in Spanish so you can give to drivers, or quickly paste to messages. Use the Cathedral and Plaza to orient them. For supplying the kitchen the closest decent place is Exito on Calle 36 between Carrera 6 and 7.
Fantastic, large apartment in a beautiful building with excellent security in the heart of Cartagena's old center. The only thing that kept me from giving this apartment 5 stars was the super hard mattress! Also, bring ear plus unless you party into the early hours. Overall, I'd stay here again, but ship an egg crate mattress topper to Cartagena!
I really can't say enough about the apartment. Aldo communicated very well with me. The apartment was as nice as in the pictures. I think it's the first place I've encountered in Colombia with central air, so that was a wonderful surprise. The hot water worked very well. Great location near the cathedral and Bolivar Plaza, within walking distance to everywhere in el Centro. Even the doormen were very friendly and helpful. The only remotely negative thing I can think of was that I had to hold the toilet seat up to go to the bathroom. I highly recommend!
There is no doubt that this is a great location -- in the middle of Old City. The building is also great with a roof top deck and friendly doormen. The unit is also very spacious and clean. With all that said there are a couple potential downsides for some people. The awesome location means it comes with lots of noise -- all throughout the night. Being on the second floor and on the corner you are getting a lot of noise which is expected until you are trying to go to sleep -- if you are a light sleeper beware. The bed is also so firm that there is no give when you sit on it. I like firm beds but this is on a different level! There were also a couple isolated incidents that occurred during our trip that may be atypical: the wi-fi never worked (or even showed up as an option) even though we tried to reset the router. The toilet/handle broke, but I alerted the owner before we left and I assume that has been fixed. Overall, if you don't plan to spend a lot of time in the unit (which we didn't) I think this is a great place to stay. The hot water is also a plus since not every place in the Old City has hot water!
