Mele Kohola isn't just a homeâit's an embodiment of the Hawaiian spirit. This is more than just a vacation; itâs a lifestyle. Welcome to your personal paradise. Aloha!
The location is fantastic with great sunrise views. We saw whales offshore on our first morning there. The description is completely accurate and it accommodated our group of six perfectly. Our only regret was not planning a day to just relax and enjoy the view.
I am a Realtor and I enjoy real estate sales, property management, traveling, hiking, exploring, cooking healthy meals, and spending time with family & friends. I currently reside on Big Island, Hawaii with my better half, Clint.
This home is located directly on the ocean cliffside in the popular neighborhood of Hawaiian Paradise Park, where you'll find the beautiful Shipmans Beach hike. It's about 15 miles south of Hilo. Up the Coast is Carlsmith Beach Park where you can snorkel, whale watch, and observe sea turtles in the waters. Onekahakaha Beach Park is another family-friendly park with wading pools teaming with small inhabitants, just 20 miles up the coast. Hawaii Volcano National park, home to rare and endangered wildlife such as the elusive scarlet i'iwi honeycreeper, the friendly nene goose, towering koa trees, and graceful ohia is just minutes away. Also, find delicious restaurants just 10 miles south in Pahoa.
Watch whales jump right outside! This home has been known as "Mele Kohola" which means "Song of the Whale" in Hawaiian and they will entertain you day and night (in season, of course, January-March). The waters in front of Mele Kohola are very deep, and the coastline is shaped in a gentle cove tempting the whales and dolphins to play very close to shore. Enjoy the unobstructed bi-coastal views from almost every room in the house including the two front, ocean facing lanais. Yes, this is paradise!
