The location was good. The home was not very clean. The toilets all had rings in them. It was advertised as AC but only downstairs. It was hot for sleeping upstairs. There was only beds and night stands in the bedrooms. It wasnât very homey. The beds were clean and comfortable. The kitchen needs updating. Drawer fronts falling off. It was also advertised with an Adidas store discount. This leads you to believe there is an Adidas nearby. That is not true, as the closest one is in Portland, Oregon. That should be removed from the advertisement.
The outside of the property looked neglected. There were many tall weeds everywhere. Not like the neatly landscaped front as shown in the pictures. On the inside, everything appeared fine - exactly like the listing pictures. But soon we noticed many things that were less than acceptable. It seemed like it was a project that started out well but had gone down hill thru lack of attention. The cleaner had not come, so the owner's daughter was doing the best she could, even though it wasn't her job. The trash had not been taken out. Some of the dishes had been put away dirty. There was a security issue with the hot tub being plugged in indoors - so the sliding door could not close and had a very flimsy rod holding it shut. The kitchen cupboards are falling apart - drawer fronts falling off. The dishwasher does not work - shows error code #33. The hallway bathroom was very dirty. Some fixtures were not attached properly (wall towel holder in master bath & banister top at top of the stairs). The window sills were not cleaned & the one in the living area was dirty and water stained - possible leak?). And there were no checkout instructions or info about connecting to the wi-fi...these are basic courtesies that every host should provide. On the positive side, the outdoor sitting area was very pleasant and everyone said the beds were very comfortable.
Upon arrival the kitchen still had crumbs on the counter tops and obvious spills down the cabinet fronts. The upstairs bathrooms both had hair and lint in both tubs. One of the tub mats had urine and possibly some vomit stuck on it. We arrived really late so I cleaned one bathroom and wiped down the counters in the kitchen so we could use it. One of the beds had mucus stuck to the sheets so we didnât use that room. It was a softball tournament weekend so we werenât able to find a hotel room sadly. The owner did respond quickly when I messaged and offered to see if he could find someone to clean the place but we were leaving the next day. There were security concerns as the hot tub is powered via an extension cord that is run into the living room so the door canât lock since it has to be left ajar(and it was really cold). Also, it was billed as being ADA accessible but no ramp to the front door and all bedrooms are upstairs. All in all the owner was responsive but I donât think the property had been cleaned for awhile given the amount of dust and hair on the baseboards. The front door locked but the frame had clearly been compromised. The strike plate was on with one tenuous screw. The door sill was broken in multiple places. Lastly there were no checkout instructions so we took the trash out but the dishwasher door couldnât close so I couldnât run the few dishes we used. Also, not secure given no locking back door and possibly locking front door.
