Comfortable home walking distance to central Lafayette, CA.
Comfortable family home on tree lined residential street. Walking distance to Downtown Lafayette and BART for easy access to San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley and both airports. Close to restaurants and shopping. Lafayette has a nearby Reservoir with a paved walking trail. There are also several nearby play grounds for kids.
We were there while supporting our hospitalized son (pancreatic cancer). The place was conducive to the peace and serenity we needed. Itâs warm, comfy, and cute.
We rented 3510 Hamlin from July 28, 2025 thru August 11th. We would not be writing this review if the owners had edited the property description to accurately reflect the property we rented, which we asked them to do; they did not. The house is the home of the leasor not a full time rental, so you are living with the little things a homeowner never fixes. Here is a list of the problems:The house is advertised as Air Conditioned, it is NOT. There is an AC in the master bedroom but the rest of the house is without AC The rear door would not fully close or lock, therefore we could not secure the houseThe lock on the front door does not like to release the key once it has been insertedThe outdoor grill was too dirty to useThe oven was dirtySign on the screen of the master sliding door says âdo not openâWhen we brought to their attention that there was a wasp nest near the front door they asked us to knock it downMuch of the trim paint is peelingWhere the carpet meets the wall board there was much grime If these items do not bother you then the house would be a good rental. The positive was that they have a very nice garden and told us to enjoy the vegetables.
This is an extremely easy house to live in. The neighborhood is close to shops and restaurants--yet in a very quiet part of the town. We were five adults and there was plenty of room for us. Because John and Beth live in the house there is everything you might need, e.g. in the kitchen, for your stay. Somehow, all of the closets are empty and ready for your clothing. The yard is large and charming--and in warmer months undoubtedly a delightful place to sit and watch the birds flitting about the feeders. In the cooler months, there is a charming and efficient fireplace in the family room to add to holiday cheer. The hosts have been everywhere and their professional quality photographs are on the walls as are family pictures that make you feel as if you're growing with them. The hosts were very easy to communicate with and very responsive. There were delightful and thoughtful touches like Peet's coffee. I don't want to commit them to spoiling you, but don't be surprised if they do. If you are looking for a quiet home, in a quiet neighborhood to get some writing or planning done, there couldn't be a better place. If you need a place close to SF and/or the east Bay, this is ideal. But, this is not a place to just park your bags and leave empty all day...it's a place you can call home for the period you are there. P.S. Is there another home on VRBO with the Russell-Einstein Manifesto framed in the bathroom?
We are a retired couple who have lived in this home for 40 years. We love to travel and use the times we rent to visit family and explore new adventures.
Our home is small and beautiful on a gorgeous property that makes fantastic outdoor living. Because it is our primary home it truly does have anything you need to make your stay comfortable.
