Ce charmant cottage dispose d'un salon ouvert et d'une cuisine donnant sur la plage. Il y a deux chambres de chaque côté de la maison et chacun a une salle de bain complète. Il y a un lit king size dans une chambre et une reine dans l'autre Chambre. Une belle grande terrasse pour prendre le soleil, se détendre avec un cocktail en soirée et en regardant les belles vues, regarder les oiseaux. La maison est proche de la piste cyclable. Excellent emplacement pour tout le monde!

Neighbors are Close

Overall cute, comfortable little house, but… There is another home being constructed VERY close to the house which wasn’t in the photos or mentioned in the property description. This construction was in addition to another existing home which is also very close to the deck, but is shown in photos, so no surprise there. Sofas in the living room could be more comfortable, but are fine after a good tiring day on the beach. For the nightly rate and proximity to the shore, would recommend, as long as close neighbors aren’t a big deal.

Hi! The construction was not in the photos because it isn't in front of or behind the home. It is across the street. Unfortunately we can not control who builds where, but always inform guests if a home is being built in front of their rental. There is a lot of building happening everywhere on DI. We never know when to expect it! The South 40 is built one lot back from the gulf, the neighbors who own the house in front, built far to the right so South 40 has good views. The lots are not huge on the beach, and you will have neighbors any where on the west end. Luckily, with the breeze and waves it always feels very secluded. Regarding the construction, they have worked all winter 2022 and the project is basically complete 4/25/23.

Great Location!!

Great value for the location. We had an unobstructed view of beach and clear path which took less than 5 minutes to walk. The houses around us which were considered beachfront were honestly not much closer to the beach than us. We’ve been coming to DI for about 10 years and this was by far the most well stocked and cleanest place we’ve stayed. The kitchen wasn’t overwhelmingly stocked, which made it easier to use. We had an issue with the ac unit not keeping up one day and called the office. A repairman showed up in about 10 minutes to check things out. I would definitely rent again and recommend this house. It was perfect for a small family. We had 3 adults and 1 child.

Great Stay!

We had a great stay from start to finish in this great beach house. The communication from the owners was nice. They gave us simple instructions to pickup the keys and find the property. The add was accurate. It had all the amenities as stated in the listing. The house was clean and beautifully decorated. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The view and access to the beach was amazing! All the pans and cooking utensils you could need were available. All the switches were nicely labeled. The outdoor deck furniture was super nice! The deck was either new or very well maintained. There was construction next door, but they didn't really bother us. It looked like that house was getting close to finished. Our family had a wonderful week here, and I would highly recommend it to others, family and friends. The next time we come to Dauphin hopefully this place is available again.

Great house! Great views! Walked off the deck right to the beach.......just the right size for 2 couples......The house was probably the BEST stocked home we have booked as far as all your "necessities". I love to cook, rather than eat out and everything I needed was there!!! Loved it and would definitely book again!!

Great little house on the beach

Cozy cottage vibe with excellent beach access and view. Well organized kitchen. Comfortable master bedroom. The house has a nice updated porch and great patio furniture too. There are few little updates needed but you can see the owners are working on property improvements. Updated microwave and dishwasher. The bedding and linens are very nice quality. We really felt like this is a homey and comfortable place. The beach was perfect!

The house was perfect! Exactly what we were looking for and matched the description. We loved the view from the deck. It was a short walk to the beach. The house was clean and comfortable. Beautiful Island and location was perfect!

House was in a great location and very clean. Needs a few updates like the tile is broken and soft in places but for the most part this was a great vacation! Beach is close enough that we didn’t feel we had to walk a long way with our stuff. Actually it was so safe we left most of our stuff on the beach every night. Great trip!

Cozy beach getaway

Beautiful property, well-maintained and lives up to the pretty pictures in the listing. Bigger than it looks on the outside, open floor plan, nice size rooms. The decor is fun and relaxing - our 11-year-old daughter chose this house because it was the “beachiest” of all the ones we looked at. Nice amenities- indoor washer/dryer, well-equipped kitchen, SMART TV in LR, TVs in bedrooms, WiFi, brand new deck furniture, outdoor shower underneath and faucet on deck to rinse off sand and ocean to keep it out of the house. Bright and sunny inside with great view of the ocean from every room. Easy beach access, only about 200 ft to the beach, no streets to cross. Beautiful beach, not crowded during our stay (1st week of August); wide sandy area, shallow water with gentle waves. Would definitely stay here again!

The recent updates are very nice. The kitchen needed a cork screw and some wine glasses, but everything else was there for simple cooking. We loved the location on the island, it was very central. This house would work well with a small family too.

We had a wonderful stay at South 40-A! Great view and really quick to get out to the beach on the private path. We loved being able to have our two small dogs with us too. The only thing missing was a corkscrew, but we bought one. Would love to go back!

The perfect little beach house!

This home was perfect for our small group. The home is well maintained and set up perfectly to enjoy the beach. Access to the deck from both bedrooms and the living room area was perfect. Access to the grill below the deck was also an added bonus. We were really close to the water and enjoyed evenings on the deck. The island is pretty cool! Thanks for a great vacation. Dauphin Island, a wonder of nature and full of history is a barrier island on the Gulf . The population is about 1,300. The town is included in the Mobile metropolitan statistical area. The island was named for Louis XIV's great-grandson and heir, the Dauphin. Our 'laid-back' atmosphere is prized by folks who enjoy serenity and natural beauty.

The eastern, wider portion of the island, is shaded by thick stands of maritime pine trees, but the narrow, western part of the island features scrub growth and few trees.

Dauphin Island is home to Fort Gaines, Dauphin Island Sea Lab, The Estuarium public aquarium, the Dauphin Island Airport, boat ramps, a fishing pier located on the Island's eastern end, historic sites, several restaurants. Beaches attract tourism, and fishing is a popular activity in the waters around the island. The island is connected to the mainland by a 3.5 mile long bridge.

Although the entire island is a bird sanctuary, the main one is the 164-acre Audubon Bird Sanctuary. Dauphin Island is the first landfall encountered by many birds as they migrate north from Central and South America, and as a consequence many species can be found resting there before continuing their journey.

In 1519, the Spanish explorer Alonso Álvarez de Pineda was the first documented European to visit, staying long enough to map the island with remarkable accuracy.

The island's French history began on January 31, 1699, when the explorer Pierre Le Moyne, sieur d'Iberville, D'Iberville later decided to locate a port for Fort Louis de La Louisiane (Mobile). Fort Gaines on the eastern tip of the island was built between 1821 and 1848. It was occupied by Confederate forces in 1861, and captured by Federal troops during the Battle of Mobile Bay. The phrase, 'Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead,' was spoken by U. S. Admiral David Farragut just a few hundred yards from Dauphin Island's shore.
