Wow wow wow. Firstly, Paul and David were the most amazing hosts, attentive, kind and providing recommendations for restaurants and shops, even making us a wonderful homemade pesto. The villa is amazing, homely, comfortable, beautifully furnished and has everything you need. The pool area is stunning, with cozy areas to soak up the incredible views. We had Chef Bruno cook for us one evening and what a treat that was! Caccamo is a wonderful old town which had a festival when we were there. The people are very friendly but bring your phrase book as very little English is spoken. Recommend an SUV to get around. We would love to return to the villa! Thank you to Paul and David for making our visit such an amazing experience!
We couldnât be happier with our stay. The home is beautiful, charming and unique, the setting divine and the owner anticipated our every need and then some. Were it possible to give 10 stars, Iâd give them in every category!
Caccamo is well located to explore the whole island (but it is a shame to leave the home) and the owner, who speaks English and Italian, knows Sicily and its most beautiful spots and is happy to point you in the right direction.
Our Caccamo stay was perfect- we are so very fortunate to have been there - and have left there relaxed, renewed and ready to enjoy wonderful memories of an extraordinary stay.
A true hidden gem: Art, beauty and heart in the Sicilian hills
Casa Pergola is a true hidden gem, exceeding even my wildest expectations! This charming home is more than just a villa; it's a living art piece. Perched high in the hills of Caccamo, this beautifully restored 15th-century olive mill is a testament to Paul and David's passion and artistry. Paul and David have poured their heart and soul into creating an artistic oasis, filled with beauty, comfort, and meticulous detail â truly, no stone was left unturned. While the journey off the beaten path is for the adventurous, the reward is immeasurable; I never wanted to leave. The villa served as a fantastic base for exploring western Sicily. However, the highlight of our stay was undoubtedly connecting with the incredible hosts, Paul and David â two truly amazing people we feel blessed to have met. And for an unforgettable culinary experience, be sure to have Bruno cook for you. His meals were another highlight of our stay at Casa Pergola. We canât wait to come back again and again!!
The pictures of this property are amazing and I promise it is even better in person. You cannot turn a corner without seeing something created with artistry and beauty, whether itâs the gardens or some small detail in the house. It was a gorgeous space to hang out with our teens. Each day we took a small sojourn to CefalĂč or Caccamo or Trabia. We all agreed the best part was hanging out at the house, listening to the sheep bells and playing cards. We had Bruno cook once, and if we do it again, Iâd have him come every night! Further, Paul and David are wonderful hosts: meeting us after an extremely delayed flight, helping me get medical help for a wasp sting, picking up lost luggageâŠThis is a house for deep settling and restoration. My kids didnât even want music by the pool because they wanted to hear the bells and the trees and the birds. Go, read Sicilian novels by the pool, eat wonderful food and delight!
Paul and Davidâs Caccamo villa is the most unique and special place weâve ever stayed. As other reviewers have described, getting there is a little bit of an adventure, but very manageable, and adds to the ambiance of the place!
Study the pictures - it is even more compelling than the pictures show. This may be one of the most photogenic places you will ever see. The views over the valley and lake will take your breath away every time you step outside. The outdoor spaces offer cozy spots for relaxing, for reading or reflecting on the simple beauty of this place.
The rustic stone cottage and the decorating details create an evocative atmosphere that makes you feel like you could be a direct descendant of people who tilled this land for more than two thousand years. You just donât want to leave, and when you do, you canât wait to get back!
If you are lucky enough to find this place available, grab it quickly, and have Paul book Chef Bruno for some (or all) of your dinners. Paulâs evening meals are memorable, delicious, and very well presented.
You will love this place - we did! We were three couples traveling Sicily for two weeks and this was our favorite.
The property is stunning. Paul and David have created a perfect house and garden which made for a lovely, relaxing holiday.Paul and David are excellent hosts, available with help and advice, but equally respectful of your privacy. Each bedroom has its own charm, all are very comfortable and clean. The house is well stocked with everything you could need, from spare deodorant to herbs and spices. Having the option of a meal prepared and served by Bruno and Giovanni is a real treat, we had a lovely dinner to celebrate my 50th. Do ensure you have an SUV and purchase the extra insurance as the âroadâ to the property is very bumpy, but it adds to the experience! The pool and outdoor lounge area are stunning. Gecko watching in the evening with a glass of wine was bliss! A simply perfect holiday location!
Euch allen nochmals tausend Dank fĂŒr diesen unvergesslichen Urlaub!
Our week at Paul and Davidâs restored olive mill in Caccamo was nothing short of magical. As first-time visitors to Italyâand traveling with two young childrenâit was the perfect introduction to Sicilian life. The home itself felt like it belonged in Architectural Digest: timeless, beautifully renovated, and designed with care. Every room was immaculately clean, well-appointed, and perfectly suited for our party of eight, including two kids. The pool was stunning, the amenities were thoughtful, and the rooftop terrace became one of our favorite places. Hanging laundry there felt poetic, with panoramic views of Lago Rosamarina, sheep bells echoing in the valleys, and golden light pouring over the hills. Even the mundane became memorable. As American expatriates, Paul and David were a godsendâattuned to our needs, always quick to respond, and full of incredible local recommendations for restaurants, shops, and historic sites. Their hospitality was warm, generous, and truly above and beyond. Sharing a glass of wine with them felt like catching up with old friends. This home was more than a stayâit was a soul-filling experience. Our children thrived, we slowed down, and we left already dreaming of our return. Paul and David didnât just host usâthey became part of our story.
Our stay was amazing. The views could not be any better. The pictures do not do the house or the views justice. Every detail of the house was decorated and designed to perfection. Paul and David were accommodating in every way from helping us with attractions, directions, or just checking in to see if we needed anything. One evening I was looking for gluten free pizza for my son and they were so kind and bought my whole family pizza. If we needed anything, they came to bring it to us in a matter of minutes. They shared their delicious vegetation with us and even gave us the olive oil that was from their olive trees. They truly made us feel like we were a part of their family. Absolutely an amazing stay! Highly recommend
Our week at Casa Pergola was nothing short of magical. My wife and I, along with another close couple, stayed seven days and were blown away by the beauty, comfort, and hospitality. Paul and David are exceptional hostsâwarm, attentive, and never intrusive. Paul met us at the main road and guided us in personally (tip: rent an SUV or 4WD for the final stretch). The villa is a beautifully restored 15th-century olive mill, spotless and full of charm. The grounds are immaculate, the views over the Sicilian hills and Lake Rosamarina are stunning, and the heated poolâadjusted to our exact preferenceâwas perfect for lounging and relaxing.A highlight was dinner by Chef Bruno, who prepared a gourmet Sicilian meal right at the villa. Absolutely unforgettable!Whether youâre exploring nearby CefalĂč and Caccamo or just soaking in the tranquility of the property, Casa Pergola offers a five-star experience from start to finish. Paul and David accommodated every request, including a last-minute airport transfer, with ease and joy.We left relaxed, grateful, and already planning our return. Highly recommended!
The property was everything promised and more. We had 2 wonderful dinners cooked by Bruno and Giovanni. The gardens were just amazing and the pool was lovely and warm. The hosts made our stay unforgettable. We will definitely be back
Paul is A... couldn't be kinder, and an extremely gracious host. Casa Pergola is a true Italian experience. The kids were in the heated pool everyday, thanks to lovely weather, which gave the adults time to relax and enjoy Italian wine and the beautiful vistas. Renting a 4 wheel drive is a must. La sicilia e bellissima!
All things considered, not perfect but still great.
My wife and I stayed a week and really enjoyed the property. The outdoor spaces in particular are awesome. Spacious, varied, shaded, sun, views from everywhere, lovely garden and plantings.
The house itself is well done and equipped, cozy but kind of small.
I would recommend putting screen doors (yes I know they don't exist in Europe) on the doors so you can get fresh air without leaving them wide open to the creatures and insects. Lastly, the roads leading to the house are pretty rough, and an SUV with a little extra clearance would be wise. The roads also add time to wherever you want to go. Just remember, you are not walking to town, and it is 15 minutes to drive to any town, so if you like convenience over privacy, this may not be the one for you.
But it really is a great spot, and definitely have Bruno cook you dinner. Worth every Euro.
Our relaxing accommodation for 10 days in Sicily was nothing short than a piece of paradise. Accommodation beautifully renovated with decor that complimented the old style olive mill. Beds exceptionally comfortable! Surrounding gardens a delight to explore. However, our hosts were beyond super! In fact they became like family always there when we needed them while also allowing for privacy. They helped our trip become unforgettable.
We loved our stay at Casa Pergola. It is very comfortable as well as beautifully thoughtfully designed, with so many unique features mostly made or created by the 2 artist owners Paul and David. Our favourite place was the pool houseâ perfect through the scorching hot days and the evenings. Paul was extremely helpful , making suggestions where to go, how to get places even making reservations.
We could not have chosen a more wonderful place. The beauty and peacefulness of the area filled all our souls. The roads around it though are quite rough so a higher car is better.
This is an incredibly special place.
evening. the area in the
Beautiful converted olive mill. Fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. BBQ and outside dining / cabana next to the pool were ideal and much used.
Paul and David were fabulous hosts. Very welcoming and responsive. A great stay!!
An amazing villa, full of character and style. Gorgeous outdoor pool and dining area with the most lush plants and greenery , little alcoves and fantastic views of the surrounding area. Inside there is everything you could need with super comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and air conditioning. Paul and David could not be more friendly and helpful in giving great local advice on beaches to visit and restaurants. Didnât want to leave!
We, David and Paul, both come from artistic backgrounds. Paul was a potter in Mid-Coast Maine and David a decorative painter, created murals and hand painted furniture working throughout the United States and Tuscany. We moved to Sicily in search of something unspoiled and authentic. What we found was an amazing island steeped in history, a food culture that honors a tradition of eating fresh and in season foods, and a life style that puts 'LIVING WELL' in front of everything else (with the exception of 'La Famiglia' of course), No one loves 'family' more than the Sicilians. A Sicilian friend once warned me 'You better be careful, if you are liked the Sicilians will drag you into their family!'
This is a house for artists, romantics, gardeners and swimmers. Really anyone who searches for natural beauty, a place to decompress, to breath, to be rejuvenated. Casa Pergola is perfect for anyone who wants to reconnect with loved ones. For those seeking an authentic urban experience, Palermo which was "Italy's City of Culture for 2018", is just 30 minutes away. Your time here will be unspoiled and as private as you wish.
The house is wonderfully private. Even when the house is full there are always little private spaces to go to when you need to recharge, whether it be the spacious pool house with fireplace, shaded garden courtyard or dramatic roof terrace. When our guests do have to return home they do so with some reluctance, for many of them Casa Pergola was a slice of heaven that is hard to leave behind.
