We couldnât ask for a better place to stay for our weekend at the sand dunes! The cabin is lovely, clean, and centrally located. The owners even provided firewood for our camp fire at night! Itâs 5-stars for sure!
We had a great time and enjoyed the cabin. The only thing was it was advertised as a 2 bath and there is only 1 bath and an outside shower but we made it work. I would definitely rent this cabin again!
What a perfect home with a ideal location to the Dunes. I love the privacy of this house. We had plenty of space to have the kids play outside and enjoy a bonfire. Can't wait to book this house again!
The cabin was in a great location! It allowed us privacy to enjoy the peace and quiet of the wooded area, but it also allowed us access to the Dunes and lakes within minutes. It was very relaxing.
Loved the privacy of the area! Close to all the attractions but could enjoy the quietness of the cabin. Well stocked and comfortable! The hammock was great and loved the loft. Ate at the Open Hearth restaurant that was recommended and it was great! Owners were extremely accommodating with our needs. Would love to stay there again!
Our second year back and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Beautiful property that is off the beaten path but close to everything. Cabin has all you need. Adults love the outdoor shower and plenty of space outside to relax. Thank you for allowimg us to stay.
My husband and I, our 4 children, and my parents stayed in this great Cabin for our Labor Day weekend. It's close to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, Craigs Cruisers, Beach, etc- but yet in it's own quiet wooded setting! Very clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed in the kitchen and by the fire pit! Even had Smore's roasters! The kids LOVED the loft area. Would definitely rent again!
This cabin is nestled down a wooded lane and is absolutely perfect for your getaway to Silver Lake! We spent our days riding at the dunes and enjoyed our evenings back at the cabin around the firepit. We truly felt like we were in the middle of nowhere and it was perfect! Communication surpassed our expectations. Although it was only 4 adults we had in the cabin, this place is perfect for families with kids! We kept saying how much fun our kids would have had there. Don't hesitate booking this place, it's everything you could need!
Beautiful Cabin - close to Silver Lake and Lake Michigan
This cabin is amazing! We initially had a group of 6, and our daughter's boyfriend surprised her with a proposal while we were here, so that made a couple days of 7 people. There was PLENTY of sleeping space for everyone, and all of the beds are really comfortable! The kitchen is well stocked for dishes you need to prepare meals. There was plenty of toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, paper plates, which was great! The outside shower is amazing! We were all fighting over using it instead of the one inside! We made great use of the hammocks and chairs outside, as well as the fire pit. It was nice having a break from TV and WiFi, as well. The hosts were always quick to answer any questions I had. I would highly recommend staying in this cabin! There is so much to do in Western Michigan, and this is the perfect place to stay to see it all!
WHO: Two married couples each with one young daughter (20 months and 30 months old) stayed during our reservation.
DURATION: We reserved the place for 4 days and 3 nights but sadly had to miss the first 24 hours of our reservation due to a family emergency. So we stayed for 3 days 2 nights. During which time the six of us couldn't have been happier.
WHY WE LOVED IT: First let me start off by stating what my wife finds most important: cleanliness. This cabin was spotless. Mattress pads, floors, bathroom, kitchen, etc. It was all much cleaner than most hotels we've stayed at. She couldn't have been more excited (and comfortable).
Now for what I find important: seclusion. Though there were times we could faintly hear nearby neighbors, we always felt secluded and private. We were able to enjoy the outdoors at the property while grilling, having a fire, laying in the hammock, or simply watching our little ones play in the sand right off of the porch. It was very peaceful and I couldn't have asked for a better layout of the property. Not once did we see another vehicle on that road (other than the cleaning crew as we were leaving).
THINGS WE DID DURING OUR STAY: Grilled food, hung out at the property, visited Lake Michigan, visited Silver Lake, and carried little ones up the dunes. Not much but it was perfect for us.
THINGS WE DIDN'T DO: Pretty much everything else. We will wait until the girls are a bit older before taking guided tours on the dunes. We don't own our own ORVs but this property would accommodate them very well. We didn't visit many local shops/restaurants. But really all of these things we didn't do are just more reasons to come back to this cabin again. And we sure hope to soon.
FUTURE TRIPS: For each of us, this was our first time renting a cabin and we are already talking about renting this one out for a weekend each year if we can. My wife even wants to relocate her upcoming girls family weekend reunion here.
FINAL WORDS: If you're reading reviews because you're considering renting a place for a while--rent this one. You won't regret it. Just please don't rent it when we want it ;)
Pros: Plenty of places to sleep, clean, well stocked, great location
Cons: no wifi or tv (both were not listed on description so my fault not noticing), linens in primary bedroom were stained, biggest issue was when we took a shower the whole cabin would smell like rotten eggs (sulfar) and didnât feel like we got clean with the water because of the smell. My kids had skin reactions to it. Owners indicated it was from well water but from what I read can be corrected. This is the main reason we wouldnât return.
This was the perfect cozy cottage in the woods. Lots of room for our trailers and riding stuff. Relaxing environment for everyone. Only surprises on our part was no tv or washer/dryer. Looking back at posting that was my bad. I assumed these items based on other rentals we have stayed in. But indeed they are not listed. Overall a great stay.
Absolutely loved the cabin! It was beautiful, clean, great owners, large property, close the the dunes & town! Couldnât be happier! We will be back next year to make this a tradition
The property is nestled in the woods. There is no WIFI and no T.V. so you completely disconnect. I didn't know this when I booked so it was a surprise, especially to the 6 teenagers we had with us. This made it difficult to google restaurants to eat and directions to get around. Once you drive off the property you can find service about a mile down the road. It was a great cabin though. The girls had their space in the loft and the boys in the basement. My husband and myself of course took the bedroom. The cabin is fully stocked with pots, plates, cups ect. waffle iron was a bonus. There is no dishwasher so everyone had to pitch in and wash their own dishes. The sand was a little messy but we knew this before renting, bigger outdoor/indoor mats would be useful. The beds were comfy and the home is clean. Property is beautiful!
Beautiful cabin with just the right mix of privacy and proximity to Silver Lake and Lots of Lake Michigan beaches. We had a blast both relaxing at the cabin and exploring lake Michigan
Quiet and secluded - great socially distant getaway
This property is very nice and has a lot of sleeping space. Having to bring our own sheets was a bit of a hassle, but at least I knew my sheets were nice and clean during a pandemic. The kids enjoyed the hammock and the porch swings. It was nice to be so close to Silver Lake State park. We brought our boat and used the boat launch there every day.
By the way, if your kids are accident prone like mine, the nearest ER is only 16 minutes away and the personnel there are quite experienced in cleaning and stitching up sandy wounds, so that's a plus.
Brian and Lori Aeschliman are the owners of this beautiful cabin. Brian is a machinist by trade and an avid builder. We started this cabin project 14 years ago by taking this cabin apart near our home in Ohio and sanding every log and putting it back together again at the Sand Dunes, one of our family's favorite vacation spots. With the help of other dune friends and family we've built this cabin. It has been an adventure and has turned out really awesome, We always have a week that the friends that helped put this up are invited to come and enjoy it with us. There has been a lot of fun and many friendships started up north. The boys love to drive their latest creation that they've made on the dunes Like trophy trucks, dune buggies Jeeps etc. And the girls love to go out to the beach and catch the rays.We feel blessed that we've had the opportunity to work and play together on this project.
