Cadre riverain privé sur le lac Michigan

Ce chalet de deux étages dispose de 3 chambres, 1-1 / 2 salles de bains (1/2 salle de bain est à l'étage) et il peut accueillir confortablement jusqu'à 8 personnes (2 lits superposés).

Le chalet isolé est situé à l'extrémité d'un 1/2 mile de long, d'une piste, route de gravier privé. Route traverse d'acres joliment arboré, dernières 2 autres gîtes, et culmine est une grande prairie ensoleillée où ce gîte est situé.

Trois marches descendent de l'entrée au chalet mène à un grand salon à aire ouverte avec un plafond cathédrale, une cheminée du milieu du siècle, télévision par câble, WiFi et lecteur DVD, beaucoup de fenêtres, une cuisine entièrement équipée, mise à jour avec une île , et une terrasse avec une vue imprenable sur le lac Michigan avec ses magnifiques couchers de soleil.

Deux chambres à coucher 1 lit Queen, et 1 lit complet avec le salle de bain complète sont situés au premier étage. Chambre à l'étage dispose d'un ensemble de lits superposés, d'un canapé-lit pleine grandeur, et un petit balcon. La petite salle de bains 1/2 est au deuxième étage.

Un chemin boisé court, vous mène de la maison à la grande plage privée.

Amusez-vous en randonnée dans les bois, à la suite l'un des nombreux sentiers de cerf; nager dans les eaux cristallines du lac; des châteaux de sable avec la belle plage de sable blanc sucré; marcher vers le nord jusqu'au phare de Little Point de Sable et grimper à son sommet; la construction d'un feu sur la grande plage privée et de dormir sous les étoiles.

Si vous sentez le besoin de plus d'activité venture sur les nombreuses attractions à proximité. Est à quinze minutes de Silver Lake, avec ses buggy de vacances et des manèges, karting, jeux d'arcade et un mini-golf. Profitez également du golf sur 4 parcours locaux; équitation à Rainbow Ranch; dégustations de vins dans le vignoble Fox Barn Winery situé à proximité (dans les magasins pittoresques et les galeries d'art de Pentwater; visite de la ferme laitière de Country; cyclisme sur le sentier Hart-Monteque; tubes et terrain de jeu au lac Stony; visite du village de White Pine à Ludington, divertissement et aventure Great Adventure Parcs à Muskegon, et le JJRanch à New Era.

Great House on the Lake

We truly enjoyed our time at this special house on the lake. Everything was great from the short walk to the beach to the upgraded kitchen to the amazing sunsets. The property is very private and had everything we needed. It was super clean and the perfect size for our family. We will definitely consider returning again.

Leisure at the Lovely Lake

My husband and I had a wonderful week of long beach walks, leisurely meals, and wonderful afternoons of swimming and reading on the HUGE beach! We have visited before, and we were happy to return again. The kitchen and entranceway deck have been updated, and a raised guard rail around the big deck make for some nice improvements since our last visit 4 years ago. If you are looking for a quiet vacation with privacy and beautiful scenery, this is the place for you!

Can’t beat the remote nature of this house and being able to go down to your own private beach but also zip into silver lake for an ice cream cone. Updated kitchen is perfect. Thanks for another great year!

Lake Michigan Beach cottage

Secluded cottage nestled in beautiful Lake Michigan dunes with incredible, clean, private beach. Cottage was perfect for the whole family. We like to cook from scratch and the kitchen was smartly equipped with good quality pans, cutlery, etc. The walk down to the beach is a lovely stroll and the 30 or stairs are well worth it! The beach is huge and the view of the lighthouse can't be best.

Amazing..

The cottage was on a piece of paradise in Michigan. The beach was perfection! The home was all we needed, nothing we wanted for. We chose to leave a day early because the exterminator was coming out and we have asthma. That was our choice and nothing that had to do with the owner in any way. We felt like all was very well cared for! Enjoyed the time we had! We appreciate you sharing your slice of heaven with us!

Exceeded expectations

This home exceeded our expectations in every way. The location was incredible, the views were amazing and the house was so full of character. My girls loved the upstairs kid area and were so happy all week. The house had everything we needed, from cooking to cleaning up after ourselves. The walk to and from the beach might be a bit much for someone who doesn't do stairs, but my young children handled it just fine and it's really not anything unusual for that part of Michigan. The private beach was amazing. We did run into some folks using our part of the beach on our last day and weren't sure how to deal with them, but being our last day decided to let it go. All in all it was an incredible trip. Each of us felt at home the entire time and it was just what we needed.

Secluded getaway on the beach

What a lovely week we had in Michigan! The house was definitely off the beaten path, which we loved. A few dirt roads led to this amazing view and short walk down to the beach. Tim was super responsive and helpful. Loved the remoteness of the location and you can't beat the view. The beach was private and just enough sand for our family. We zipped into town to the General Store, some ice cream and a dune ride but was content to stay at the house most of the time. The house was clean and had everything we needed. We will be back!

Perfect cabin overlooking the beach

This was an idillylic spot to stay. Remote enough to feel alone with plenty of open sand an beach for my kids to play. Great woods to explore and a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. The dunes, lighthouse erc were a short drive. Laura was easy to communicate with, very accommodating and quick to respond. The cabin was clean, functional and well appointed. My favorite little touch was the gorgeous fireplace. My kids mostly loved the DVD player. Can’t guarantee this will happen for you, but we saw a bald-eagle nesting on the property. Pretty amazing!

We had another encounter(3rd mice fatality over the years) with critters. We were frequently ?first renters in summer. Now they come from outside and enter through screen door. There is hole next to handle in the kitchen. There are mice dropping on the balcony 2nd floor.They do climb the walls. Perhaps trap in this location will help?

Great secluded spot!

We've been vacationing in Oceana County annually for years, and have rarely found a cottage that was nestled in the dune and woods with such a great, secluded and peaceful location (though quite the narrow winding road and driveway to get there!). It was a great find. The view from the cottage was fantastic, especially for sunsets, and although a bit of a walk down the dune and through the woods to the beach (as advertised in the listing), the beach area was well equipped with 6 chairs, making it the perfect place to spend the afternoons by the water and walk to the nearby lighthouse at Silver Lake State Park. As another reviewer mentioned, the photos we saw didn't reflect a very updated kitchen - which is especially nice since it overlooks the lake! Deck was also especially nice because it had good amounts of shady areas at any given point in the day - and the table was perfectly shaded during dinner time for eating outside.

A Lake Michigan gem…

We were a group of four 55+ childhood girlfriends who vacation every August on the shores of Lake Michigan together. Our visit to Laura’s beautiful home was a wonderful experience. The view from the front deck was spectacular, along with the cozy 70’s vibe of the home. The pictures do not do it justice. The trek down to the beach was a little bit of a job for us older gals, but holy cow, once you get there you have the entire beach to yourself. It was AMAZING! We loved how secluded and private the home was. The road up to the house was a little more than we anticipated, but we got used to the drive after a day or two. The newer deck in the front of the home was beautiful, along with a new guard rail on the front deck. We had a wonderful week at The Windy Dune and hope to come back next year! Thank you Laura for sharing your beautiful family home with us. We just adore it!!

Beyond expectations

The photos do not do this property justice. I would put this property in my top 3 rentals of all time! The space is modern and very clean. New flooring and a rearranged kitchen gives more space and a very sharp atmosphere. Enough space for 6 adults to relax, especially while using the large deck. Beds were comfy and we slept well with the nice breeze through all the open windows. Very quiet and tucked away from the rest of the world through the woods. The beach might be the best I've experienced on West Michigan. Hardly a rock in sight, soft sand and lots of space. We had a beach fire every night it was clear, bugs were not an issue and the sunset lingered til around 11pm. Amenities were very thoughtful and amply provided. Lots of kitchen tools, beach toys, chairs, odds and ends to make our stay go smoothly. My only caution: the steps to the beach got VERY slick in the rain, walk slowly.

The cottage was clean and very well organized. The location is beautiful, very quiet, and private.

Our family of 5 had plenty of room to spread out. The deck off the living room is very spacious and has seating for several people. The upstairs bedroom was very popular with our 3 kids. The kitchen is well-equipped and provides plenty of space for working on meals. The washer and dryer in the basement were great. They ran through loads quickly and dried even beach towels very thoroughly. The views of Lake Michigan are spectacular. We went down to the beach every day except 1. The trip down is a bit of a hike when you are carrying beach stuff, but since it is so private we were able to leave most of our chairs, our boat, and canopy frame down by the beach for the whole week. The trail down is nice and clear, and the steps are divided into 3 sections so you can stop and rest along the way if necessary. The beach was plenty large for our family. We did rake away some washed up debris the first day so that our beach area was clear. There is plenty of room for parking in the driveway or at the clearing at the end of the driveway. We appreciated the nice thick bath towels and wash clothes, but we missed some hand towels for the bathrooms. Also an extra rug in the main bathroom and a rug by the slider door would be helpful. We all enjoyed our week at this cottage.

Disappointed

When we got here it was great to see some of the deck was replaced. We settled in to what we hoped was a great time. But there was a problem with bugs. First, we just saw a lot of dead bugs, in the window tracks, doorwal track, along the heaters in the bedrooms, and a couple on the kitchen/ living room floor. Then we started seeing more and more bugs! The carpenter ant problem is pretty significant, and we started seeing what we identified as roaches. The bugs became a bigger and bigger problem as the week went on. I did not call the manager because by the time the bug problem was overwhelming, it was time to leave. This place needs a Professional bug program ASAP. We went to the hardware store and bought roach traps and threw out all opened food. We had to take all kinds of measures to make sure we didn't bring them back home. We stayed here last year and it was not like this. Unfortunately, as much as we will miss this place, we will not be staying here again.

Windy Dune

Overall we had a nice stay. The beach was nice. I loved morning jogs to the lighthouse, playing at the beach during the day, and campfires at night. The house was farther away from the beach than my husband would have liked, but it was only like a 3 minute walk. We stayed at the end of August and I was concerned about the house not having air conditioning, but the temperature inside the house was comfortable with the windows open. One bedroom smelled especially musky, but we got used to it. One night a fire alarm went off in the house. It woke us all up. We had to remove the batteries from the alarm and were disappointed to see the date of the alarm as 2009. As this is a place people rent to stay it is important to maintain safety. The expired fire alarm did not make us feel safe. The entire house, except the kitchen which was recently updated, felt a little outdated, but the beach made up for it. I was concerned about the deck off the house as the railing was very short. I was concerned that my 3 year old child could easy fall off the railing as it was about 1/2 to 2/3rd of her height. Lastly, I think it would be nice to know what is the included beach access of this property. One night we saw a random person camping on the beach. They were close to the walk way access. This property was described as being private, but there was nothing private about a random person camping nearby. We enjoyed our stay, but as mentioned in my review there are things that could have made our stay improved.

I was born and raised in Chicago, but my family always vacationed and celebrated holidays in Shelby, where my grandparents lived and where my mother grew up. My parents actually met one summer when they were both picking cherries at a neighbor's farm.
In 1958 my parents, together with an aunt and uncle, bought this property which included 1000' of Lake Michigan frontage surrounded by 24 acres of forest.
For many years my family just parked our car on the side of Stone Church Road and we hauled our camping gear, food, ice and drinking water to the lake front where we set up our campsite. We made several trips along a well-worn deer path and all 3 children had to carry a load (my younger sister was 6 at the time). The first big improvement was drilling a water well. Several years later came the road and finally the ladies got their outhouse! Construction of the first cottage didn't begin until about 1967; my dad had designed the cottage and did as much of the construction work as possible - one of my cousins did all the electrical work. This was my family's cottage - the second one along the driveway and is now occupied by my brother. My aunt and uncle built their cottage in the 70's and this is the one I now use and rent out. Over the years we had many wonderful family gatherings at the cottages and on the beach, particularly Labor Day weekend when we had 3 birthdays to celebrate. The celebration always included making homemade ice cream - the old way, with the hand crank!
While most of my adult life I have lived on the East Coast, I always love to return to this part of Michigan and to my property in particular. This part of Michigan hasn't changed as fast as many other parts of the country, so it's always refreshing to me to glimpse a slower, simpler, kinder way of living.
