We had a lovely time at this extremely charming cabin. The setting was very private, and the view from the living room was spectacular. Would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful, well-appointed property. So peaceful and quiet. We did not make use of the rowboat or chiminea fire pit, but we were glad they were there. Super-clean with nary a cobweb in sight! We would love to return for a longer stay than 3 nights.
Excellent , inside and out . Very well stocked, very classic cabin style. We enjoyed the cabin !!
The week went by too fast. Mary has a wonderful cabin with all vacation needs inside and out. Location on the lake is excellent with a nice dock, row boat, kyake, paddles, etc. and a good swimming location. Very nice piece of property with a big stone fireplace not shown in the photo. Enjoyed our time there.
Beautiful property that has been very well cared for over the years. Very clean and private. My husband and I enjoyed time fishing on the lake. Mary and her brother Bruce were very helpful and available. Lots do at the property and in the surrounding area. Spider Lake is a new favorite destination. Thank you for everything!
Awesome place! 20 minutes to Traverse City. Mary is great to work with! She has everything needed!
This cottage is very nice! Beautiful weather, awesome view of the Lake. Family owned cottage that is end of street. Only negative to it is its a gravel road but just drive slowly and no problems at all. Cabin is very cool at night with cross breeze and a fan.
Mary does a nice job explaining everything needed. Drive is a circle drive we had two full sizes pickups with boats in the drive it tight but can be done easily. One boat 17 footer the other 22â and fit fine. Cottage in a few steps from the lake and fishing is available right there. Great place we will be back!
We enjoyed our stay in this cozy little cabin. Having the paddle boat, the kayaks and the canoe at our disposal allowed us to enjoy Spider Lake and to get some needed exercise. We had warm weather so we didnât get to use the indoor fireplace but we did enjoy the outdoor fire chimney to make sâmores in the evening. There is no WiFi in the cabin but our cell phone worked just fine to be able to check email. Our goal was to unplug as much as possible...and that mission was accomplished! I would highly recommend this lakefront cottage and would not hesitate to return at some point.
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Loved waking up to the view of lake every morning. It was very private, yet close enough for day trips to nearby towns and attractions. Plenty of games and books to read on rainy days and everything we needed to cook meals at home. Lots of good hiking trails only a few minutes drive from the cabin. We stayed in October so it was a little cooler, but the heaters that adjusted for each room were great. Would definitely come back.
This was our second stay this year. We stayed a week in June and love this place. The only problem is the shower, there is no water pressure and it takes a really long time to get warm. Hopefully it will be fixed for next year. Also the row boat was full of water. This cabin is very comfortable and in a great location on the lake
The cottage was just wonderful! The pictures donât do it justice. It was such a fun and relaxing vacation and the cottage offered everything we needed for a great week. Mary is such a nice and attentive host. I would highly recommend renting this cottage!
Perfect for fishing, relaxing, enjoying the outdoors . Row boat, kayak, canoe and paddle boats available to use kept us busy all day. Great fishing. Nice fire pit at night to stargaze. Close enough to TC to visit. Very peaceful. Hope to return again
Very peaceful location. Nice cabin, fully equipped. Lots of extras.

Nice cabin with everything you need and great views of lake inside and out
Wonderful cabin. Possibly the best view available on spider lake. Plenty to do outside. Lots of chairs and fireplace to relax and stare at the water. Different boats at hand to take a quick paddle around the lake. Also a dock for fishing. Nice steps and light down to the water. Large property so plenty of privacy while u sit outside. Lots of space outside all to yourself.
Inside the cabin is spacious with nice sized kitchen with a large table in front of window so u can watch the lake while u eat. The living room has large picture window with great view of lake no matter where you are.
The bedrooms and bathroom are on the smaller side but this is a cabin not a condo. This place is perfect if your idea of fun is reading and relaxing indoors or out. Making a nice meal and watching sunset, trying a little fishing, going for a quick paddle and making a campfire. Maybe not the best if u plan on watching a lot of tv,Netflix, etc.
Close enough to TC and all the other attractions
We had a great experience: the house is comfortable and is in an excellent location on Spider Lake. We enjoyed the privacy and quiet surroundings while still being within a close driving distance to Traverse City. Mary was very helpful when we arrived to introduce us to the property and answer questions we had about the surrounding area. We would recommend this property to others looking to stay in the Traverse City area and would be happy to stay again ourselves sometime.
My wife and I in the spur of a moment decided to take a trip to the Traverse City area to enjoy some fantastic weather for September. Mary was so helpful with our last second reservations. The cottage was cozy, clean, and although there are neighbors you felt very secluded. We kayaked, read books, had a campfire and I did some fishing. I was lucky enough to catch one bass that was close to 3 lbs. It was a very relaxing three days.

What a great get away place, very quiet and peacefully setting.
Nicely furnished and equipped cottage on a nice quiet lake cove. Just about everything needed for your stay is provided. Though an older build, it is nicely maintained, neat and clean.
This family cottage is owned by six siblings. Our great grandparents were pioneers in the Grand Traverse Area arriving in 1870. Our Grandfather was born in 1885 at the family farm just a stone's throw from the cottage we own today. We have a long history in the Traverse City Area. In the early 1900's our family was part of the Straub Brothers and Amiotte Candy Company here in Traverse City which did business around the country. Our Dad was the owner of Trude Hardware, a historic business in Downtown Traverse City for over 70 years. Our family still owns the Masonic Building in Downtown Traverse City where the hardware was located.
This cottage was built by our Dad when he returned from WWII. He was a young, single man then, and this lake was sparsely populated then with only a few cottages on the entire 650 acre lake. He built the cottage in the evenings after he got off work with logs and field stone from the local area. We originally owned over 900 feet of lakefront and 17 acres. Over time it was necessary to sell some of the property to reduce the cost of taxes. Today we still own 500 feet on the lake and nine acres with one of the best views on the lake. We have been renting is out as a vacation home since 1950 as well as using it for our own family. We consider it a family treasure and keep it very well maintained.
