We really enjoyed our time at this quaint, clean, and quiet lake cottage. The access to kayaks and paddle boards was a huge plus. Our boys (ages 12 and 15) used the paddle boards and my husband and I used the kayaks any day we were at the cottage. It was a short drive into Traverse City and up to Glen Arbor/Sleeping Bear Dunes. This is our third visit to the area but first time at this cottage. We were not disappointed.
We had the best stay. Our cottage was incredibly quaint and clean and just lovely. The lake was beautiful and serene...the perfect place for a relaxing vacation. Incidentally our host was lovely too...thanks Jody for an amazing time!!
We had a Peaceful & Wonderful vacation week at Sweet Cherry Cottage!Sunny days we kayaked and had fun on the SUP paddle boards on Bass lake. Morning latte on the deck with beautiful water view, and I loved the milk frother on the krups coffee maker! Nice touches of decor with lakeside and cherry themes. Check in was perfect, and Jody was quick to respond to our questions about the lake depth. So glad she told me about Halls corn on the cob in season-- it is the best Ive tasted. It can be humid on the lake (i had forgotten this fact), the portable AC/dehumidifier in living room was great as well as air purifiers. The perfect cottage for day trips into Traverse, Suttons Bay and Mission Peninsula-- then we could go back to the cottage and enjoy a peaceful evening on Bass Lake. Highly recommended rental !
The Lake Vacation My Kids (and I) Will Never Forget
I grew up in the Detroit metro area but moved to Colorado for college before I ever got the chance to really explore Michigan. Iâve always wanted to give my kids the quintessential lake cottage vacation â and this place was exactly that. The lake was right outside our door â safe, warm, and perfect for swimming. Evenings around the bonfire, under the full moon, with the call of loons echoing across the water⊠it was pure magic. Our only regret was not spending more time just being there. We explored nearby spots each day (everything was super accessible), but in hindsight, we wish we had slowed down and soaked up more quiet time at the cottage.Every moment was special. As a single mom whoâs always âin charge of it all,â this place felt like a true exhale â a much-needed break and a beautiful way to reconnect with my family and my Michigan roots.
We had an absolute blast staying in Traverse City. My family and I enjoyed paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming in Bass lake. The cabin was lovely, clean and well stocked with towels, soap, shampoo, and coffee. Staying at this place made me realize how awesome it is to have a washer and dryer!!! The airline lost our bag so we had to do laundry every day in order to have clean clothes. This place rocks!
Great property, location, and host! Bass lake was perfect for relaxing and kayaking with minimal speed racers on the water and the fireworks display on 4th was excellent.
It was a sweet, peaceful, comfortable and cozy place to stay. The location was perfect, the lake was very pretty and the host was fabulous. Excellent communication!
Vacationed with my daughter and 2 exchange students from France. We had so much fun at this cottage. The lake is very clean and swimmable. The Kayaks and SUPs are great to have. We used them every day. The cottage is really cute and worked well for 4 people to eat, sleep, shower comfortably. Neighboring cottages were friendly, and evenings were quiet. I would happily return again to this cottage especially because it is super convenient to reach all there is to do in the area but tucked away from the crowds.
The Cottage is about 20 min from Traverse city. The directions were well explained and we did not have problems on finding it. The manager contacted us early by letting us know that the cottage was ready for use (before the check-in time) and instructions.
The management was very quick to response (we had an outlet problem, we would have never noticed if we wouldn`t try to turn the tv on, on our 3rd day of stay lol, but they fixed the problem fast). The cottage was well equipped (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom).
What I did not like were: the spider webs almost everywhere. Now I understand that with the lake`s humidity they kind of infest every space but is annoying to see them.
The bed covers looked not clean and stained. I brought my own sheets, a habit I have, but we had to use the covers because it got very cold at night.
We enjoyed the front lake view and the chairs in the early mornings. Even though we never used them, the boats were there ready to use too.
It was quiet and very pleasant.
We did not spend a lot of time at the cottage as we were mostly around, basically we only slept there, but was a nice experience overall.
This cottage was beautiful and cozy with spectacular views of bass lake from the couch. There is a sand bar we kayak to and enjoyed the summer sun. The fire pit was a wonderful way to end the summer night. Located 10 min away from Traverse City. Already booked another cabin for Labor day and bringing the kids. Jody was very helpful and quick responses with questions. A 10/10 experience!
Had a great stay at the cherry lake cottage, about 15 min from town but right on the water, Jody was wonderful & fast at responding to any questions we had
Everything was perfect for our time there. It was beautiful looking out onto the lake. The other cottages next to ours were empty so we enjoyed the privacy and quiet. Kitchen was well stocked for the two of us.
Unfortunately it rained for most of trip, but that meant we spent a lot of time inside the cabin. It was small, but the perfect size for the four of us. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything I needed to cook and there were games to play. The tv was small, but we also watched a movie. The location was nice. We were about 10-15 minutes to many restaurants, downtown traverse city and about 30 minutes from the sand dunes. Wished we couldâve used the fire pit. It was right by the beach and wouldâve been great during the sunsets, but we did manage to use the kayaks even though it was drizzling and had fun. The owner Jody was quick to communicate and made sure we had everything we needed.
Really enjoyed my stay. Close to downtown Traverse City but nestled in the woods where it was quiet. Cabin was clean and had everything I needed. Would definitely stay here again.
This was the perfect cabin on the cutest lake for a short weekend trip with the hubs. We walked our kayaks down to the lake a few times over our trip and had a blast exploring. This is the perfect spot for some lazy kayaking. We were only a short drive to Bear Dunes and an equally close to Traverse City. We will definitely be staying here again
Overall my wife, son and I had a great time. Location of the cottage to surrounding areas and attractions made the stay very enjoyable. The cottage was nice and well maintained with lots of privacy and immediate access to bass lake. The only two down sides we experienced were the water quality, which was slightly brown and tasted very metallic, which we overcame by using bottled water for drinking. Also we had a chipmunk that made several appearances leaving poop behind wherever he had been. All in all we enjoyed our stay and didnât let the few items effect our vacation.
