Lovely house and host - this was a great spot for a 2-week stay with my family, and Mark was in touch to make sure we had everything we needed, even helping out with finding a high chair for our infant and dropping off new potholders when I had trouble finding them myself. Very easy kitchen to cook in which was so helpful given the length of our stay, also really enjoyed ordering food from Coveside restaurant right down the road to bring back to eat on the porch while looking out at the boats coming and going. Great spot to enjoy both sunny and rainy weather given all the comfortable seating on the outside and inside porches. Thank you so much to Mark and his family for being such great hosts!
The cottage was spacious and comfortable, boasting beautiful Maine charm, an amazing deck, and a view to die for. The owner had excellent communication and we highly recommend this property! We will definitely be booking again!
We all had a very enjoyable week. We spent the week with friends and our small dog. We have been to the Boothbay area 5 times now. It's nice to get a little further away from the town.
The Firs is the quintessential property for a relaxing stay in Christmas Cove - beautiful views from the front porch and only steps away from Coveside. Rustic and charming.
A very magical and fun place where my family vacations in the summer.the Firs house is all part of the experience I'll be soon for lobsters and dark and stormies at the coveside inn.which is in a short walking distance.
The interior is pretty quirky but fun and comfortable. The front porch has a fabulous view of Christmas Cove with the Atlantic Ocean in the distance. There are great nature trails nearby for walks. It is also close (100 yards?) to a nice restaurant with music on the weekends. It was a great place to have our wildly scattered family visit, relax, and enjoy each other.
The Firs overlooks Christmas Cove and the view is beautiful and interesting. Motor and sail boats come into and out of the cove. There are fishing birds and people walkIng. We spent hours on the comfortable porch reading and watching the activity. The Coveside Restaurant is almost across the street and they have a variety of lunch/dinner options for carnivores and vegetarians. I was impressed because they offer organic lettuce in their salads, a winner for me. We found Pemaquid Beach which is lovely for hot afternoons.
The house has a large kitchen which is convenient for a group. It is an updated beach cottage with mostly wooden interior walls, no sheet rock. I prefer these houses for summer vacations. They are comfortable and somehow just right. The Firs has an enclosed porch for cooler days. We spent a rainy day there doing a puzzle. We also took walks in the cove area to find incredible views of the water. At the end of our week we had all enjoyed our vacation.
We had a great vacation! The house was right on the water and it was quiet since it was after Labor Day. The Cove Side Restaurant was only a 300 foot walk away and was open on the weekend. They had a band on Friday night which we thoroughly enjoyed. We also enjoyed having a cup of coffee in the mornings on the porch, smelling the salt air, and watching the boats come and go from the cove. If you are looking for rustic and quiet, I highly recommend this vacation home.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Firs. This is a well seasoned summer
cottage that met my every need. Everything you could think of is there;
from kids movies, to fishing rods, comfortable beds and wi-fi. The owner
quickly responded to questions and provided some interesting historical
background.
This was my first visit to South Bristol. I found it to be very relaxing. People
are friendly and, of course, the views are amazing. I enjoyed watching kids
learning to sail on the other side of the cove. You are a short drive to groceries
and several excellent places to eat. Take the time to find an exceptional ice cream
stand up in Damariscotta.
We had a glorious week at The Firs. Christmas Cove is off the beaten tourist path, so we were hoping for peaceful and non-commercial, and we were not disappointed! Many hours were spent on that porch enjoying the breezes and view of the harbor. Although the most popular restaurant on the island is nearby the neighborhood feels residential with the biggest activity we could see was going for a walk or jog, with or without a dog.
A family member who is recuperating from hip surgery found this house a great place to mend - after negotiating a few steps to the front door, a first floor bedroom and adjacent bath made it easy to be part of the family vacation.
We found everything we needed in the kitchen to cook some great local seafood. Comfortable beds and clean bathrooms too. I hope The Firs is available next time we want to rejuvenate in Maine!
Loved everything about the house. Location was exactly what we wanted! Could use some new pots and pans and more light in the upstairs bathroom. Also the enclosed porch was quite a surprise, this was not listed in the pictures of the house and we spent most of our time in this room!! Thank you Mark for letting us enjoy your home!
Mid coast Maine cottage with plenty of room and a yard .
Older cottage with upgrades to kitchen and a bathroom. Great view from large comfortable porch . We like the Pemaquid area and this
cottage pleased all of us. The only thing we wished more for was a beach that the kids could play on . That was a very short ride and it was
fine. We weren't misled about not having a beach. We kayaked in the waters around the island (supplied by Maddog's). The local restaurant (the Harborside) is very good . The draw bridge added to our enjoying the spot.
House is well equipped in the kitchen also a tv ,wifi and board games. Everything you need for vacation.
