Thank you for the review and the note about the bears. The local authorities require that homeowners have "bear proof" trash bins, but they have to be used properly, so we always let our guests know to make sure the trash is secure and car door LOCKED! The bears will be here the next time you come, so start planning today!

Spring break get away

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home was prefect for a few days break. Great location for the Smoky National Park. We found everything we needed and were lucky with the weather so took advantage of the hot tub after the hiking. Kitchen was well equipped beds were comfortable and the family room was inviting. Everything was clean and fresh. Driving up the hills is always a challenge, certainly claimed one transmission in the past.

Thank you for the review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the hot tub after hiking. What a great way to end the day! Highland Fling is about 2 miles up Ski Mountain, but it feels a lot longer when you aren't used to driving in the mountains. The roads to this particular chalet are all nice, two lane, paved and there is one level parking spot at the cabin. We suggest driving back down the mountain in Low gear when you get near the bottom. We hope to see you again soon.

The cabin was very clean and accommodating. They had travel size toiletries and small box of cleaning supplies (dish soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry supplies. The views of the mountains off the deck were nice.

Sat outside alot enjoying the view. Beware of grilling, bear hopped up onto the hot tub and walked around deck for a while so we were on high alert everytime we were outside. Saw another cub on the street below us. Drive up to cabin wasn't that bad. Driveway was pretty steep but the car suprisingly did just fine. Cabin was very homey and absolutely loved the bed, wanted to take it home!!Meant to see what kind it was so I could get one but forgot to look. Spent alot of time just sitting outside (always listening for other bears) just enjoying being there!

Family Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed staying at Highland Fling. This was our first time staying there. It is a very quiet and cozy cabin. We enjoyed watching the Ober tram going by each day. We seen 5 bears while we were there. One of the bears seemed to always visit in the late evenings. We also seen a large bear that opened a car door and stole some chips to eat. We even seen a momma bear and her two cubs. Our kids really enjoyed seeing the bears at a distance of course. I know worms are a problem in the mountains, and our cabin had them. So watch out for those too. It might help if the cabin was sprayed to help kill them. I would recommend that the tub in the master bedroom be replaced with a shower. I think it would be used more than having 2 tubs in the cabin. Overall, a great experience and hope to come back.

Clean, homey and comfortable inside, love the huge deck and hot tub outside, which we used every night. Beautiful view from the deck and a great spot for bear watching, and we saw two on this visit. We will definitely return to Highland Fling!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My wife and I have stayed at highland fling once before several years ago. Nice clean cabin, the bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on! View is pretty good this time of year not so many leaves on the trees yet. We missed the tram swooping by this time ( shut down for upgrade and repair ). We have stayed with the fine folks at Mnt Laural many , many times over the last 20+ years and they were as great as ever.... I hate we didn’t get to come in and converse like we usually get to BUT Covid changed a lot of things! This is a comfortable and clean cabin and we will book again soon. Thanks, Phil.

Always great to have you stay with us Phil and we agree about covid. We miss our guests and welcoming you properly to the mountain. Hopefully, the end is in sight and we can open the office to the public again soon. 50 years rolled around quick for the tram at Ober Gatlinburg. That's how often the cables have to be changed out and it is taking 2 months! It will be back open, hopefully, for Memorial Day. Give us a call the next time you need to get away for some R & R.

Overall a great place

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall this was a great cabin with gorgeous views. We saw 2 bears while we were there. I enjoyed having a 1 level cabin to stay in since I am disabled with a few mobility issues. The main issue I had was the pee stains on the mattresses that we saw when we took off the bed sheets. I feel like for as much as we paid they could either have them cleaned or replace them.

Probably one of the best properties that we have stayed in with Mountain Laurel, location, parking, and ease to get in. No complaints, just a couple items that need replacing. Living room and dining room blinds. Couch and love seat pretty worn. We understand this just comes with time. We would recommend this property and will probably stay here again if it is available.
