The Casita is a wonderful place to stay!!! Very clean, comfortable, cozy and private. The owners are very nice and helpful. I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again.
If you love the outdoors, peace and quiet, nature walks, star gazing and a quiet place to read and enjoy your coffee this place is for you! Our 10 day stay was very relaxing. The owners are very attentive and extremely organized. The casita is a wonderful place for a couple or small family to stay.
Great place to relax and enjoy peace and calm of the area. Morning is the perfect time to sit outside with some coffee and just listen and watch the wildlife. Definitely will stay again!
We enjoyed our stay at the Pinos Altos Casita,
It was very comfortable with all comforts of home.
It was nicely appointed. We loved the tile work.

Tom was a great host, providing sight seeing tips, the casita features were perfect, peaceful, the 1865 Buckhorn Saloon in town a must-see and for dinner and much more. Great experience.
Perfect place to stay with all the amenities when visiting Gila National Forest. We visited the Cliff Dwellings and enjoyed hikes along the Continental Divide Trail. The starry nights were an extra treat.
We had a wonderful get-a-way to this property. The host were great, provided everything that needed and more. The actual unit was equipped with everything you could need and more.
The location is very convenient for exploring the area. If we return to this area we will be sure to return to this property.
The hosts, communications, and property were all great. The tiny village of Pinos Altos is about 7.5 miles from Silver City, and about 1000 ft. higher in elevation, which makes it very pleasant. The only ding I can give is that the property amenities list "air conditioning" and "TV with cable/satellite channels," neither of which are accurate. There is only a small portable evaporative cooler, and only some streaming services available on the TV, many of which can't be viewed without a paid subscription. I was expecting real AC and real cable/satellite channels, but didn't get them.
This was very comfortable! The home itself is beautiful!
The bed was great, the shower tile is beautiful! I love the masks!
The weather was perfect!! No humidity or heat!
I loved it all, thank you Tom and Deb!
We had a wonderful time at the property. It was so homey and comfortable, and just as advertised. The location is extremely quiet and peaceful. So much to do in the area if you like the outdoors, and the local cuisine is great as well. Really enjoyed ourselves in every way.
We spent almost a week at the property and we could not have had a better experience. Pinos Altos is a beautiful oasis a short drive from the artsy Silver City historic district and on the edge of the Gila National Wilderness. The property is beautifully maintained including secluded trails right out the back door -- frequented by deer and a variety of birds. Inside everything was clean and lovingly cared for. Tom was a magnificent and attentive host, with lots of advice on how to make the most of our visit. My wife Amy, our dog Charlie, and I were very sad when our time was up at this unique getaway. We can't wait to return!
We spent a week in early February hiking around the Pinos Altos area and stayed at this lovely casita. It is small as advertised, but has everything you could possibly want or need. In addition it is artistically decorated. On our arrival we had some welcoming breakfast supplies in the refridgerator. The host provides a book which contains a great deal of information about the casita as well as the surrounding area. It gets cold in Pinos Altos in February, but the casita is warm and cozy. We thorouhly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend a stay at the casita.
My husband and I started 2022 with a beautiful snowfall and warm comfort in this cozy casita. This place has everything you need to enjoy a quiet and peaceful stay with beautiful scenery. The owners were super welcoming, communicative and respectful of our privacy during our stay. We would definitely stay again.
This place was so beautiful and felt like a home away from home. Everything you need is here while you stay. On our first night driving to the home we saw seven deer. It was a beautiful sight to see if you are not used to seeing them. The information book that was inside the home was filled with things to do in Silver City/ Pinos Altos area. So do t miss the activities if you choose to stay here. If you do enjoy it because it was a wonderful stay.
The passive solar casita is a perfect size. Very clean. Well appointed. Comfortable queen bed. Marvelous walk in shower and bathroom facilities. Kitchen is clean and very efficient. Owner has also stocked kitchen with spices for cooking. Delightful. Outdoor porch is a charming place to sit and watch the birds, as well as the hammock. Outdoor cooker and large table/chairs for comfortable outdoor eating. A heater is provided for you in the livingroom should it get cold. It sufficiently heats the casita. Wonderful selection of books and DVDs for your enjoyment. We truly had a relaxing time in the casita. Be sure to eat dinner at The Buckhorn Saloon & Opera House in the town of Pinos Altos. It is definitely a hidden charm and a 4-star restaurant!

This Casita is adorable! Very clean and quiet. Tom and Deb were personable hosts. Also, the information binder was very helpful in answering my questions about the area, and more. I would definitely stay here again. Perfect solitude from my busy life!

We came to Pinos Altos in 1996 because we didn't want to raise our children or spend the rest of our lives in a big city (Albuquerque) -- and because we have always lover this part of New Mexico for its climate, Gila National Forest, and the vibrant small town of Silver City. Our property, which we bought with friends, is on the edge of Pinos Altos (about 250 people, 7 miles from Silver City, and 1,000 ft. higher). We built a beautiful straw-bale and adobe passive-solar home with a view of the Pinos Altos range. We can bike, hike, and occasionally cross-country sky directly from our home, as you can from our cottage.
* Tranquility, quiet, views of mountains. * Easy access to the services of an urban area, with good restaurants, university, music, etc. * Array of biking, hiking opportunities out your door. * Base to visit Gila Cliff Dwellings, City of Rocks, Gila Wilderness, Gila River, and Lake Roberts.
