Ernest Hemingway a séjourné dans cette maison de charme du début du siècle où se déroulait son premier mariage. Il dispose de sept chambres et est parfait pour une réunion de famille, un mariage ou des vacances en famille. Bien que les zones importantes de la cuisine et des salles de bains aient été rénovées, il conserve son atmosphère délicieuse. Il y a une plage privée pour les clients de Shangrila directement sur le lac Charlevoix avec une rampe de mise à l'eau publique à proximité. Situé près de Petoskey, de la ville de Boyne, de Charlevoix et de la ville de Boyne.

Wonderful place!

This house was very accommodating for our large family! The very large covered porch and outside deck made it so comfortable and roomy! The host was so nice and showed us around her property, telling us its history. I highly recommend staying here!

Great end of summer get away!

Very Nice

It was a very nice place. It looks small in the pictures but plenty of room! We had 8 adults and 2 children. Loved the screened in porch! The decking around the house was beautiful. We would stay there again!

Amazing place for a large family!

The owner was very accommodating. The entire family loved the house and the area. Everyone enjoyed the water. The history of the home is very interesting and it has been updated and very well maintained over the years. Actually, it looks even better than in the photos. We would definitely stay in the future.

Wonderful historic get away

We had a wonderful family reunion and there was more than enough seating for everyone. Sue was the best host we’ve had on VRBO and hope to visit the area/rent again soon!

Perfect for a family.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The property was clean and comfortable. It worked out really well our kids and grandkids joining us. It was a short walk to the lake and a very relaxing beautiful setting.

Gather and Travel with Friends

This was a great place to gather and launch local site seeing. Twelve of us traveled from New Mexico to see and experience northern Michigan with it forests, beaches, and waterways. Great to all gather at one house to share our experiences of the local area and towns. Host was very accommodating and helpful.

Lake Charlevoix Vacation House

The Lake Charlevoix Vacation House was exactly as advertised. The house was well furnished and the golf cart was great to get to and from the beach. The owner (Sue) was extremely helpful - she always went out of the way to make sure everything was just right.

A true gem!

The property and location exceeded our expectations. It was perfect for our extended family gathering that included kids as young as three and adults nearly 70. Lake Charlevoix is absolutely beautiful and so close to the home. Additionally, Lake Michigan beaches are about a 15 minute drive while Boyne City and Charlevoix are also very close.

Great place for our rehearsal dinner

This was the perfect place for a rehearsal dinner. The porches were so spacious and beautiful. Sue and Kiwi were very friendly and wanted to make sure we always had everything we needed. The golf cart was a nice surprise that our girls used to go to the beach and back. Everything was very clean. Would recommend and stay there again!

Loved it!

The house was an older style but very well kept up. Susan was a great host. The property was nice and the water at the end of the road was great! Very quiet area for peaceful morning coffee out on the deck. We all had a great time.

Shangri-la

Perfect! 9 of us thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay in this comfortable, historic home. The central location makes visiting Boyne City, Charlevoix, and Petoskey by car a breeze. Speaking of breeze, the large screened porch was a favorite for morning coffee, relaxing mid-day, and for group dinners at the large picnic bench. A small private waterfront beach on Lake Charlevoix, and a general store are easy walks.

Family reunion

We had a wonderful time! The house was better than depicted in pictures. It was spacious and well stocked. The golf cart made the short trip to the lake even shorter. We had plenty of room for outdoor games and we spent a lot of time on the huge screened in porch. Sue is an excellent and attentive host. And we’ve already booked our stay for next year!

Family vacation

Had a great time getting all the siblings, grandparents and young cousins together. Favorite space is the screened in porch. Plenty of room for our family of 11. Lake is beautiful, short walk to the private beach. Dads pontoon was able to pull right up to the dock from another local dock. If the weather had been better would have spent many days down at the beach area. Great distance from lots to do- Boyne city, Charlevoix, ORV riding trails, golfing, parks, wineries. Favorite spot was Gypsy Distillery, farmers market, tacos and tequila for quick lunch, and kids park next to marina in Boyne City.

Family Wedding

We were up north for a family wedding and needed a home that would sleep six couples which this did easily. With that being said the main reason I picked this property is because according to the pictures it appeared it was located on the water. It is actually about a block from the water. If we had planned a boating weekend I would have been very happy but it worked for what we were using it for.

Tranquil Cottage in a Tranquil Town

So I like to give a very realistic review when renting properties so I am going to list the pro's and con's with this rental (as every rental has both) Pro: The owner's are super nice and extremely helpful with anything that you need. They live right next door so it's easy to get assistance if you need it. They even provided us some firewood to use in the fire pit and fresh baked cookies Pro: The house is huge, for the first time with my large family everyone had a room and bed, no one needed an air mattress Con: It's an older house so it is a little creaky going up and down the stairs, luckily we brought a sound machine so it didn't disturb our 2 year old sleeping. The top of the stairs I also felt was a little dangerous as the steps creep into the landing at the top so you need to be careful to watch your step when walking around Pro: Although it is a walk from the cottage to the water, they provided us with a golf cart which made it really nice hauling all of our stuff and kids back and forth, plus it was just fun to take rides. Con: There is a private "beach" but currently its just a big space filled with rocks (this could change year to year like some areas do, but this was just our experience this season). Pro: There is a little sand beach on the other side of the road that's open to public that you can use instead Con: The sand area is surrounded by large boulders to keep rocks from creeping up like on the private beach side so do be careful with young ones trying to go back and forth over them to get water for sand castles. Also as this is a public dock and beach area there were constantly other people around in a small space which was a little awkward but we made it work. Next to the dock is a public boat launch as well so we did have to deal a little with people and their boats but it was rare Pro: The screened in porch is perfect! We loved sitting out there each night, playing cards and enjoying the weather without enjoying the bugs. Pro: It's right in the middle between Charlevoix and Boyne City so we could quickly go for little visits to each and enjoy a stroll. Boyne City has an awesome large wooden playscape that the kids loved.

Wonderful property for family memories

This was a beautiful property for all ages. Sue was a gracious and wonderful host going above and beyond for our family. The house is stocked with everything you could dream of for a great vacation. She is generous and kind and the use of the golf cart was so much fun! The lake is gorgeous, clear and not crowded. Great clear and shallow to splash around in with little ones (don’t forget water shoes, it is a little rocky). Great rental, exactly as listed and so much fun. Thank you!

Northern Michigan paradise

This home was absolutely perfect. The host, Sue, tended to every detail to ensure our trip was stress-free and enjoyable. The home was spacious, charming, clean, and well equipped. We loved all the outside living space. We ate all of our meals on the screened in porch. The close proximity to the water was such a treat. It was a perfect beach for our grandkids (and the adults!). We loved everything about Shangri-la!
