This cottage is magical! Great location and all the amenities you need. Our host was very welcoming and extremely responsive. Hope we can make it back there someday.
What a special spot we found for our week for a Cooperstown tournament. It is about 30 minutes from Dreams Park but well worth the trip to enjoy the beauty and solitude of the lake and golf course. The owner had everything ready for our stay (coffee, water were nice touches) and was a great communicator. We loved it.
We had a packed event schedule in Cooperstown so we couldn't fully take advantage of this historic home, but we appreciated the short commute to Cooperstown nonetheless, and being away from the Hall of Fame weekend crowds was welcome. This house is great - kept in its 1920 look, but with modern conveniences. Just up the hill from the golf course clubhouse where you can get a rundown of the full Clarke-Ryerson family history from "Pork Chop," who runs the course (great course as well). The great room is beautiful with high ceilings and the bedrooms are roomy with full bathrooms, and all of the bedrooms are situated around the great room, which is a really good layout. The kitchen is classic old-school even down to the red paint color and diner style table, which is just fine functionality wise and actually really fun. We wish we could have enjoyed the outdoor covered patio, but didn't have the time! Bottom line, we loved it and would have liked to share it with more of our family and friends - alas, we had it all to ourselves, which wasn't such a bad thing! Thank you, Hyde!
Well located, spacious property that shows its age
The location, layout, and spaciousness of the house were excellent, maybe a large family stay very comfortable. However, I expected more updates in the kitchen and bathrooms, and the cleanliness of the house was unsatisfactory. An old pair of dirty socks were left near the bed, the bathroom mat was dirty with hair, many kitchen items were dirty, etcâŠ. and the owner should consider a new housekeeper.
We had a great stay! The phoenix cottage is an amazing property. So much character and history. Itâs an old house but we loved the charm. The views surrounding the property are beautiful. The homeowners were helpful and kind and very easy to work with. I would recommend to family and friends!
Phoenix cottage is on a hill overlooking a golf course ans a lake and it is magical. Living in queens like we do , coming here was literally a breath of fresh air. Our host was there to greet us when we arrived. I would definitely come again.
Everything as described. Host was helpful and responded to our needs promptly. Great place for golfers and easy trip to all local attractions and activities.
This beautiful home was the perfect meeting place for my family from all parts of NY state. And the perfect place for our 1 year old twins to roam around and explore. Comfy, unique, spacious, and importantly enough bathrooms for everyone. Only 15 min to just about everywhere in any direction. Highly recommend.
Wonderful experience, unique, beautiful cottage. We love older places with character and this fit the bill!! Quiet, beautiful area and we would definitely come again! Our dogs loved it too!
Great summer retreat on a golf course about 8 miles from Cooperstown. Private with a large great room for entertaining. Four bedroom and three baths with an eclectic decor We hosted a July 4th picnic and visited many local attractions. Great hosts. Helpful when you needed them.
We enjoyed the location right on the golf course. We walked two minutes to have our coffee by the lake. Cooperstown and The Glimmerglass Festival were extremely convenient to get to. All in all, a great vacation spot.
We love the house and the location! The property, a 1910 cottage, is extra comfortable and we love the unique extra spacious layout and amazing decor. It has a few small drawbacks which hopefully will be fixed with time: low water pressure, not very hot water, somewhat dated outdoor furniture.. But we overall really loved being here, Hyde is a responsive and very pleasant host, and will hope to come back again and again :) !
Our family stayed for two weeks and we very much enjoyed it. The cottage is awash with character and peacefully sits atop a hill surrounded by the Otsego Golf Club. The clubhouse is a great spot to idle an hour or two chatting with the friendly locals and sampling the local beer. Our hosts were attentive and thoughtful with simple details like an assortment of fresh herbs from their garden which we put to good use. We enjoy the outdoors and willingly share its beauty with the delicate life that flourishes in nature's bounty. The cottage is perfect for a nature's getaway.
Had a wonderful mid-summer stay in this beautiful house right on the Otsego Golf Club, with sweeping views of the lake; clean and lovely; we were very well attended to by our hosts throughout our stay, and the house is exactly as it looks in the pictures.
I like the place, quite charming and with all proper utilities. We like the historical quality and nice moments that come with renting such an old home from early 1900.. The host was very nice and responded quickly to upgrading the WiFi as it was non-existent when we arrived. One thing is, the property looks right at the Golf Club House down the small hill... I did not expect to look straight on to the Golf Club and the cars parked outside the Club.. None of the images depicting the home on VRBO show the Club. There was also a huge mountain of dirt outside the home right in front of the main view of the mountain! Also not shown in any of the images on VRBO. Otherwise charming, and old school sitting on beautiful land. Thank you for our stay and we are reccomending your place warmly
I loved this house. I wanted something unique and full of charm and this was exactly it. Lots of space for the family. Hyde Clarke met us when we arrived and had turned on the lights and the bedroom AC units- very thoughtful. Beautiful secluded setting. We were there for Cooperstown- so unfortunately did not get as much time there as I would have liked. Drive to Dreams Park is an easy 20-25 minutes. Lake access is 10 minutes away at Glimmerglass State Park. Be sure to visit Hyde Hall for the family history!
We looked at many places and chose to stay at The Phoenix Cottage because of itâs charm and location, love the golf course. It was about a 25 minute, pretty drive to Dreams Park. The drive was not a problem as it was nice to have a relaxing place to return to after games. Hyde was welcoming and hospitable. He greeted us upon our late arrival. Jan and Jeff at the Lake Otsego Golf Cub are lovely and have a nice selection of craft beers and golf course in great condition. We hope one day to return to Cooperstown and would definitely return to Phoenix Cottage.
Loved staying here while attending Cooperstown. Enjoyed getting away from all the chaos everyday as we headed back to this cute home located in the woods and near the lake. The owner was always very responsive. We had a great stay!
