Great launch point if you plan to visit Josuha Tree Nat'l Park. Recommend you download a park App that will provide an audio narrative as you travel through the park.The App is only available on-line and you need to purchase it ahead of time 15For another day trip try the Zoo and Desert Gardens in Desert Palms which is about an hour and 15 minutes away, easy drive. The facility is top notch and well worth the drive

Such a unique and fun property! You can spends endless hours scrambling on the boulders, exploring, and enjoying time with your group that you truly would not need to leave. However, the proximity to 29 Palms, Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, various art installations, and either the North or West entrance to Joshua Tree NP make you want to leave to take it all in. You’ll want to spend as much time as your schedule allows.

Andrew with two families were wonderful guests, leaving the house in perfect condition although there were eight guests. They had a ball climbing the boulders. I hope to see them again.

There is really no good way to describe Dale's amazing place. Yes, it was clean, amenities, great, the view indescribable. Dale was a wonderful host! Informative, he did a terrific job showing us around the property, and it's a great benefit one you see the place to know why he she's this. There are jewels and gems of hidden places to be found everywhere!

Crystal was a fabulous guests, interested in everything Villa dei Fiori had to offer. The house was as neat when they left as when they arrived. I think they ate out alot, for the kitchen was immaculate. They share stories of Peoria , Illinois where my ancestors are from. Dale

We spent 6 days and had a lovely time. The pool is paradise. My kids saw many animals, including coachwhip snake, worm snake, bats, chuckwallas, iguana, gecko, roadrunners, etc.

Esther, your kids really saw a lot of wildlife in six days, bats, chuckwallas, iguana, gecko, and roadrunners. I am not familiar with a coachwhip snake or worm snake, I wonder if you are talking about the Red Racer or Rosy Boa varieties common in the Mojave Desert. The flight of the bats over the pool at twilight is spectacular.

Loved our stay! Dale is an excellent and attentive host. Property was very clean and well equipped. Dale met us and showed us around. The house is in a great location approximately equidistant from both Joshua Tree entrances. The sunset views were really special (especially from the hot tub)! Our son loved seeing the small wildlife around the house, including a squirrel making a home under the front tree and various lizards. We had an orange-crowned warbler fly into the kitchen glass door but gave him some granola and he flew off on his way. Plenty of parking and easy to find - we had groceries delivered from Stater Bros with no issue. The pool is HUGE - we were genuinely surprised by the size and it very refreshing after hot days in the park. Plenty of towels, including beach towels for the pool, and a nicely stocked and clean kitchen. Highly recommend!

We stayed at the Villa dei Fiori in mid/late July, and coming from the SF Bay Area, I was concerned about the heat. It got pretty hot, but not more than 103.

This property is in a breathtaking location, backed up against beautiful boulders and lovely landscaping. The private outdoor area is excellent for exploring (the onsite cave is awesome) and hiking. We relaxed and watched the meteor showers while floating in the refreshing saltwater pool and invigorating jacuzzi, and viewed stunning sunsets from the terraces. The owner's massive library of books will appease the bookworms and the culinary supplies are a home chef's dream. The home was clean and well-stocked for a pleasurable stay. The owner and host, Dale, was a very interesting, helpful and friendly person. He was very thorough in his orientation to this unique property during our checkin. We will be coming back again.

What a magical experience to stay. Dale is an incredible host whose homestead reflects his artistry and creativity that we were honored to get to stay at, he genuinely wants his guests to have a great time. Come for the pool, stay for the warm atmosphere and the caves and multiple outdoor hang out spots (the hot tub under the stars was a major highlight). Could not recommend more and we will definitely be back next year for our annual visit.

To say Villa dei Fiori is magical or unique would be true, but somehow still misses the mark.The setting is quiet and peaceful, at the edge of Joshua Tree National Park, with the kind of beauty that invites you to slow down and pay attention. We even experienced a desert rainstorm, which brought its own unexpected beauty to our stay.A trail behind the house winds up through the boulders into a landscape that feels wonderfully secluded and as old as time. Walking there, it was easy to imagine that little had changed in thousands of years.Inside, the artwork and library were a delight, giving the place a character and richness all its own. Nothing was forgotten or random in this place. Stargazing from the hot tub was a vacation highlight.Dale, our host, was attentive, thoughtful, and a pleasure to talk with. He’s a wealth of knowledge about the property, the surrounding desert, literature, world events, and seemingly anything else a conversation might turn toward. His sharp mind and wide-ranging curiosity were as memorable as the setting, and getting to know him just a bit added something special to our stay.What stays with me is the feeling of the place—the quiet, the art, the vastness of the landscape, and the whip smart mind of our host. Villa dei Fiori was a lovely place to stay and an experience we’ll carry with us. If you’re bored at Dale’s, then heaven help you.

James is an extraordinary writer, summing up his experiences at Villa dei Fiori in a more absorbing manner than most reviewers and furnished a perspective that belies that he only spent two days here, and yet had a weeks' worth of experiences. James photographed the water hole for the Bighorns with a sunset in the background, which, with his permission, I will use in my memoir. I hope to see James and Mark again one day.

Came with my family for our first visit to Joshua Tree, and this was the perfect home for our trip. Great location close to park entrances, and my kids all loved exploring the rocks and cave in the backyard. The pool and hot tub were clean and helped us relax after our mornings hiking in the sunshine. Definitely recommend and hope to return someday!

Tucked among the boulders just outside of Joshua Tree National Park is this little slice of desert heaven. Float in the pool surrounded by boulders, star gaze from the elevated hot tub, take a short hike right from the property to the National Park boundary line, or simply relax and enjoy Dale's extensive book collection. Regardless of what you choose to do you will not be disappointed. Thank you for sharing your lovely desert retreat with us. We will be back.

Dale's place is a gem in a garden of gems.Upon arrival, Dale took the time to give us the history of the art and decor in the house, which added to our appreciation and enjoyment. It is conveniently located to Joshua Tree National Park, and there are wonderful hikes right in his backyard. The property is simply amazing. Imagine a swimming pool right in front of Skull Rock!We highly recommend a stay in Villa dei Fiori!

If you're a nature lover like us, this property cant be topped! Epic caves, abundant wildlife, and many varieties of cacti are just steps away from the refreshing pool. The house is basic but well appointed - this is all about the location. Definitely the coolest VRBO I have ever stayed in. Dale is very friendly and accommodating as well, highly recommended.

Cimarron's group of friends from Alaska were a fantastic group, appreciate of nature and took advantage of the terrain, and left my house spotless even though they were a party of six. I hope they come from Alaska next winter to enjoy the warmth of the Mojave Desert.

Stayed for 4 days over spring break with 2 teenage boys. The pool was too chilly for swimming, but the spa & grounds were amazing. The boys loved scrambling the rocks & exploring the property. The spa & fire pit were great nighttime activities under the desert stars. The home is clean & well stocked. The owner is very responsive. Location was great. 100% would recommend.

Tara, Thanks for coming all the way from Indianpolis. I'm glad Jackson and Body had a great time exploring the boulders and caves. The pool cooled after we were hit by an unexpected invasion of cool air, after weeks of 90 degree weather. During climate change, weather is more unpredictable than in past years. Our family of four (2 adults, 2 kids ages 7 and 9) had a fabulous long weekend at Dale's place! We saw tons of animals right on the property: chuckwallas, fence lizards, a rosy boa, roadrunners, and a quail mom with eight tiny chicks! The location is breathtaking, set right up against a private set of boulders with views out over the desert. Our kids had the best time scrambling on the rocks in the back valley right behind the house each day, and the stars from the hot tub were spectacular. The pictures don't do it justice--thanks so much for sharing this special place!

Easily one of the most unique, well situated properties we have stayed at. Beautiful location with a backyard that you have to see to believe! Take a hike right up the boulders in the back yard and then relax in the hot top and pool with amazing views. The house is eclectic and we LOVED it... Dale, the property owner provided an excellent tour of the property at check-in and shared wonderful stories along the way... house is older, but is well equipped and has everything you need for a great stay! Easy access to Joshua Tree, 29 Palms, and both the West and North enterances to Joshua Tree National Park!

From the time I booked this VBRO, the host was in contact with me and answered every question in a timely manner. His property is backed up to Joshua Tree with majestic boulders surrounding the back of the property and the pool was very private. He gave us a tour and explained the history of the property and has a wealth a knowledge of the area. My wife and I went for a quiet, anniversary weekend and this place did not disappoint. Very much a desert vibe, quiet, with roadrunners, quail, jack rabbits, lizard's and at night we loved watching the sunset by the pool with a few bats fluttering about eating any flying bugs and getting a sip of water. I hiked the back of his property to hopefully see a big horn sheep but unfortunately, I didn't see any but there are prints and droppings. If you enjoy the desert and love the desert views, expect peace and quiet, multitude or stars at night, and I forgot to say, a very comfortable bed......book this place, you won't regret it! Thanks again, we will be back!

This house was more than we could have hoped for. The pictures do not do it justice. Dale is an amazing host and we are grateful he is willing to share this property with others. We saw a kangroo rat, lizards, bats that would come in the evening to drink from the pool. A roadrunner in the front yard and jack rabbits. The rock climbing and the views were spectacular. We would climb the boulders to watch the sunset every evening, then finish out our night in the hot tub. We would eat dinner on the patios. Location was quiet and serene. The outside patios smelled so good he had many rosemary and lavender bushes throughout the proptery. I hope we can return one day. I would also recommend the coffee/cocktail bar down the road Mas o Menos.

Michele's pets Sean and Chewy were a delight to host, and the house was treated well.

One of the most amazing properties! Dale was a great host with loads of local knowledge. He was more than willing to provide pointers and directions to great locations and drives.

Alyssa and husband were interesting guests from Michigan who did some camping in their convertible Bronco on the way across America to California. I was delighted, Alyssa took me up on my hiking trail suggestions and left the house in perfect condition. I hope they make the trek again.
