Our new and improved campsites have been upgraded to air conditioned container rooms! A queen matress with fresh linens and towels are ready for your stay. A TV, recessed lighting, air conditioning and small fan are also newly added to our sites. We have installed large decks with railings in front of each container room which also have two adirondack chairs and table. The conainer rooms are new this season, so all reviews prior to August 1st 2024 are from the previous nylon tents.
Our Lameshur Campsite is conveniently located next to the national park for easy access to hiking trails and beaches. The closest beach being Salt Pond right down the road.
There is a outdoor kitchen and lounge area that all campers can use. It has a full size fridge, big flat top grill, and outdoor dining area and bar seats. All utensils and cookware are provided along with fresh drinking water. Coffee pot and blender are also provided. A dartboard is ready for your enjoyment along with some bored games.
Battery powered ryobi fans and power inverter will set up in your tent to cool off and charge your phone.
A twin air mattress is available to sleep a 3rd guest if needed.
We are located on the furthest side away from the ferry on which you will arrive. We STRONGLY suggest renting a car.
Some of the nearby beaches and bays that are within walking distance; -Salt Pond beach (one of the more popular beaches on St John) is 0.25 miles away -Kiddel Bay is 0.5 miles away -Grootpan bay is 0.5 miles away -Great Lameshur beach 1 miles away -Little Lameshur beach is 1.2mile away
And if you are a fan of hiking there are national park hiking trails close by that can connect you all across the island of St John.
It was such a quaint little spot. Im glad there were other guests the night we stayed. The outdoor shower was a fun thing. I think this was my campground shower i had on vacation.
Away from it all but close to some great trails and snorkeling
I stayed on the north side for half of my vacation and at this spot for the second half. You definitely need a vehicle to get there. The site is cozy with plenty of amenities but know that it's camping. Everything functioned as it should. The fan was a very handy in the tent at night. It gets warm down here. It rained a bit while there so know that tents are never 100% waterproof. That said, none of my things got wet. If you are a tent camper, you know the normal culprits for leaks and plan accordingly.
There was plenty of beach gear is available to borrow for beach use: snorkel gear, beach chairs, etc. Due to proximity, it's also easy to catch a sunrise/sunset hike to Rams Head which I highly recommend.
The owners are on site and very friendly/helpful. Plenty of room in the fridge for your food. There are a couple small grocery stores within 5-10 min drive. There are a few restaurants on that side of the island but make sure you watch social media as their hours online or on their signs don't always match reality. If you want to go back to Cruz Bay, it's a good 30 min but doable for sure.
If you're looking for a chill, no frills, budget friendly, camper vibe kind of place, this is a good spot.
I somehow missed the part that the toilet was about 50 yards away from the container.I also missed the part that it was a âpeekaboo showerâ in the outdoor kitchen area (40 yards away), with a view of the owners front porchBeing retired military, with several overseas visits, that was not a problem for me.My wife was a little bit more delicate and refused to use the shower
