Our family glamping site with AC is new this season! Two seperate container rooms each with a queen matress, fresh linens and towels will be waiting for your arrival. One conatiner has an additional twin mattress, and the other has room for a twin air mattress for a 6th guest. A TV, recessed lighting, air conditioning and small fan are in both containers for your comfort. The family site has a large deck with 4 adirondack chairs and table connecting the two rooms.
Our Lameshur Campsite is conveniently located next to the national park for easy access to hiking trails and beaches. The closest beach being Salt Pond right down the road.
There is a outdoor kitchen and lounge area that all campers can use. It has a full size fridge, big flat top grill, and outdoor dining area and bar seats. All utensils and cookware are provided along with fresh drinking water. Coffee pot and blender are also provided. A dartboard is ready for your enjoyment along with some board games.
A single outdoor bamboo shower is stocked with shampoo and body soap. A single bathroom is located just past the kitchen/shower area. Both are in the shared spaces for the three glamping sites to use.
A twin air mattress is available to sleep a 6th guest for an extra fee.
We are located on the furthest side away from the ferry on which you will arrive. We STRONGLY suggest renting a car. You can find our exact location on maps as Lameshur Cottages and Campsites.
Some of the nearby beaches and bays that are within walking distance; -Salt Pond beach (one of the more popular beaches on St John) is 0.25 miles away -Kiddel Bay is 0.5 miles away -Grootpan bay is 0.5 miles away -Great Lameshur beach 1 miles away -Little Lameshur beach is 1.2mile away
And if you are a fan of hiking there are national park hiking trails close by that can connect you all across the island of St John.
Inexpensive spot tucked into the mountains surrounded by nature with views of forested hills. Has that traveler-friendly backpacking hostel vibe! Loved showering with the little birds and plumeria blossoms all around. Shared amenities provide everything you need from kitchen equipment to fridge and freezer space to hammocks and even snorkle gear. Friendly camp cats. Walking distance to Salt Pond beach and Ramshead hiking trail.Only wish I'd selected the container as the Yurt does not have ventilation and was unfortunately VERY hot first week of May.Note that you're gonna need a car to get out here and if you want to leave to go to any restaurants. Bring groceries with you from Cruz Bay!
I loved my stay at the Lameshur Cottage and Campsite! The host was very kind and messaged me back quickly if I needed help. My favorite part was the outdoor kitchen and shower. I even seen deer on the property ! I will definitely be back.
We loved this place. Quiet, away from crowds and tourists. Hosts were friendly. If you are expecting luxurious accomodations, this is not the place for you. But if you enjoy simple, rustic camping you will love this place! Yurt had real beds so no need to cart all your camping gear to St John's.
We found this to be very laid back, friendly and accommodating. It had all we needed to live simply, cook our own meals, and have quick access to the less populated beaches. Itâs like a well-run hostel with a small number of units so that it never felt crowded. Loved our stay.
Clean, Neat and Organized. Parking was great!I would highly recommend this facility. Would definitely stay again. Bring your own groceries and having a car is a must. Very close to the Ram Head walking trail, blue pebble beach and salt pond for snorkeling.
Great island camping experience! Loved the gathering area to hang out at while we cooked our breakfast and dinners and loved our hikes to Salt Pond. The fans kept us cool during the nights and we even had some deer visit us while we we eating a few times. Great place if you like to camp!
Perfect spot for our little get away to St. John. Just needed one night. Pleasantly surprised with the amenities. Everything we needed and more. Great hosts, always answered my questions. They were very accommodating when I need to use another tent. I would and hope to stay there again.
Our family of three stayed in the yurt and had a great time at Billâs place. Itâs a must if you like camping but donât want to carry all your stuff with you. Each site had a labelled shelf in the communal fridge and the joint spaces are open so never felt busy. Definitely pack bug spray and manage your expectations of being able to really cool down at night - there are portable fans in the yurt but itâs still just hot. The location is great - you can leave your car and walk down the road to Saltpond Bay. As the description says, bring a 4x4 if you want to tackle the road to Lameshur Bay!
We really enjoyed our stay here, you WILL need to rent a car (ideally one with 4WD/AWD) to get around the island, so keep that in mind. The family that runs the place is super cool and helpful.
The main drawbacks were the heat and the bugs. I don't think the heat would be as big a problem if we weren't staying in the Yurt and we're instead staying in one of the more airy tents. I recommend checking the weather before booking and making sure the nights will be cool during your stay if you're planning to book the yurt.
Not much you can do about the bugs. That's just the nature of being outside on the island. Friends of ours who stayed at villas also got bit a lot. It is what it is. The owners do provide bug spray, use it and reapply a couple times a day!
Overall great!
The yurt had plenty of room for sleeping and the beds were comfortable. What made it great was that the hosts thought of everything! Fans, lights, common condiments in the fridge, filters for the coffee pots, drinking water, soap/shampoo, snorkel gear, beach towels and chairs, a great commns area to relax and visit, even a vacuum to clean out your rental car. They obviously cared about making sure we had a great time and didnât stress over details. If you enjoy camping, their place was great!
Our family of five enjoyed our stay very much. We walked to the beach and did the Ram head trail. The owners have beach chairs, snorkeling items and floats. This location is in the more remote part of the island which we wanted to get away from noise and hussle. The owners are very nice! The tents and yurt have battery fans to keep cool while sleeping. The kitchen hangout area was our favorite with darts and swinging game.
Lameshur Camp was the sweetest place. The host was so very kind and provided everything our family needed to make our stay comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the kitchen/ common area playing cards and making simple meals, after full days of exploring and adventuring around this gorgeous island . We cherished our time here together. We slept very well at night after a refreshing shower, in the cooled down tent with the fans provided by the host. The stars at night, the peace and quiet found here canât be beat. This spot is magical.
The yurt was a perfect excursion from st Thomas for our family. Billy will help you with anything you need. Salt pond beach and ram head trail right near by. Adding to our annual trip
I hope everyone will read this review, first, the owner (Bill) is a great host!!! You can call him with any problem anytime and he will take care of it. Second, this is camping in a national park. That means youâre roughing it (no AC and no heat). Third, this yurt is not on the beach, but is a
5-10 min walk from one of the most beautiful spots on the island. Lastly, you donât need coolers, camping gear, beach gear, Bill has all that stuff. If I had it to do over Iâd come in February stay a week, buy all my groceries right up the road at Cababs, and make sure to rent an SUV. Beware of donkeys, donât leave food out in the kitchen area, you will get raided by donkeys while your at the beach!!!
The outdoor shower was our favorite part of the site! Bill and Emily have thought of everything. Between the cooking supplies, beach chairs, comfy furniture, and fresh water, our stay was lovely. They even have bug spray and citronella candles because of the pesky no-see-ums. Thanks so much!
