Our family had a wonderful time at this lovely home. The lake views throughout the house were stunning, and the home was equipped with everything we needed. Everyone had a comfortable place to sleep, with an added bonus of 3 full baths to accommodate our large group. Our host, Michael, has been very responsive and easy to work with. My family is already talking about booking again for next year!
We had a great time at Beech Hill Pond. The house had everything we needed and was well equipped. The waterfront was great, with a dock for the boat we brought for fishing, and room for the Pontoon Boat we rented from the host. It had a small beach, as well as kayaks and canoes. We spent most of or time outside, and evening around the fire.At the end of the day the house was a great place return too.Great week all around -- nice place to escape to.
Our family had an amazing time at the lakeside home on Beech Hill Pond. We we were a party of 6 adults: my husband and I, our son and daughter in law, and our daughter and her best friend. The house was spacious and gave everyone time to be together while also providing separate spaces when we felt like being alone. The views from the deck were amazing! It was not far to drive to Acadia, Bar Harbor, and Schoodic Peninsula (a must see). Thank you for providing a great place for us to enjoy our time together as a family.
The property was exactly as advertised and my family loved our week at Michaelâs place. Our stay couldnât have been better and we canât wait to go back!
We spent a relaxing, fun-filled week in this spacious house that offered so much to do! We loved the pedal boat, canoe and kayak. Saw fireworks from the dock, swam, fished and enjoyed listening to the loons by the campfire. A good time was had by all 3 generations. Michael is an accomodating and responsive host.
Stayed here for a week with two families ( 4 parents and 7 teenagers). Host was accommodating and helpful. Property had plenty for the kids to do and was close enough to drive into Acadia and Bar Harbor. Lots of space for the families to spread out to relax, play games, or swim. Water was crystal clear and out teens loved jumping off the rocks. Would be great for younger kids as well!
Super fun house and property for all ages. Lots of highlights-beach, rocks to swim to, fishing from dock, big lawn for play, firepit, and beautiful view!
Well equiped spacious home that met the needs of a multi-generation family. Lake was beautiful with great fishing. Conveniently located to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Owner was very responsive.
Awesome home, great location, clean and lots of room
Second time staying at this house. Had another great week. House accommodated 11 adults with no problem. Had a blast on the lake fishing, swimming and kayaking. Spent a day in Acadia hiking and went again another day to watch sunrise atop Cadillac Mountain. Caught some nice size small mouth bass right off the dock. Overall highly recommended and will be back next year.
This is a wonderful property. The host was greatly attentive and friendly. The house is very convenient and a wonderful lakeside home, with many amenities. The fire pit was a great addition that my entire family enjoyed. Same with the fully appointed kitchen complete with lobster pots, flat propane grill for steaming (outside), butter dishes, shell crackers, etc.. Highly recommend getting fresh seafood from Dorrs lobster pound and preparing it on premises.
Thanks again!
We had a great time at beautiful Beech Hill Pond! The house was beautiful and immaculate!! Beautiful views from the deck and backyard. The kayaks, canoe and dock were great. Caught many fish and a bald eagle soared right over our heads. At night we would go inside and watch a movie from the huge dvd collection. We couldnât of asked for anything better. The nine of us had a great time and made memories that will last a lifetime!
This is a perfect property for families with children. We spent hours swimming from rock to rock. Fish live between the rocks and under the dock and can be caught with basic tackle and worms. The shed is full of supplies that you may need including fishing gear. The dock is ready for your boat rental. A quick trip to the other side of the lake is endless fun for children who jump off of the giant rock. At night you can take your children into the yard to hunt for crayfish and frogs. Overall, a wonderful vacation spot.
This was a first for my family to travel north for a summer vacation, so glad we did.
The home is large, more than enough room for the six of us (Can easily accommodate 10+) and the house is very well kept, clean, and well equipped.
The property afforded us privacy and the lake is crystal clear.
The kayaks and canoe were a plus, really enjoyed them.
We caught lots of fish off of the the homes private dock, very relaxing.
We also brought our eight month puppy, he also had a blast.
The home is pet friendly.
Day trip to Arcadian National Park, 30 minute or so drive, well worth it, highly recommended and Ellsworth has some pretty good returanants, food shopping too.
Mike was very accommodating, just a phone call away if needed.
Overall highly recommend and will be back.
10 people, ranging 9-months to 70-years old stayed here on our annual family retreat, and with a few exceptions, all had an amazing time!
The lake is absolutely gorgeous. Crystal clear water and tons of boulders just under the surface that both kids and adults enjoyed. The back yard was plenty spacious for activities and relaxing, and the sandy beach was perfect for kids. Driveway comfortably fit 3-4 cars, and the view from the deck was perfect. Acadia & Bar Harbor are an easy drive for day trips!
However - We arrived to find wet laundry in the washer. The loft beds were unmade and missing pillows. The sliding doors and screens to the deck were extremely difficult to open/close - even for adults. The propane tank ran out 2-minutes after lighting the grill the first time, and the backup tank had a significant leak from the relief valve. The freezer door ice dispenser was missing, preventing top shelf items from freezing well (keep your ice cream down low). The basement bunk room flooded - two separate nights, soaking kids bags left on the floor and ruining some items. The kids woke with sore throats, and after the second flooding we didn't feel comfortable sleeping down there due to the air quality.
Michael, the owner, was very responsive, and accommodating when able. Overall our trip was very nice - mostly due to the water frontage and remote location. I would recommend this property to anyone who prioritizes those features over the minor issues noted above.
We spent a week at the house with three families - 6 adults and 4 kids total, between the ages of 1.5 and 6. Based on the reviews, photos etc we thought it seemed like a pretty good fit, but it even exceeded our expectations are far as being kid friendly. The sand area/beach right on the lake provided endless entertainment for the kids - digging, splashing, building sand castles, and even swimming right off the beach. The backyard also played host to a number of whiffle ball and soccer games. We made a fire in the fire pit every night, sitting out under the stars drinking local Maine beers and ciders and listening to the call of the loons. The dock provided a great launching point for kayak and canoe trips, including to the local public beach on the lake which is absolutely beautiful (not exaggerating to say warmth of water and clarity of lake made it feel like Caribbean). One other item to recommend is a boat trip around the lake on Captain Mike's pontoon boat, which everyone loved.
Inside, there is plenty of space for three families. One of the bedrooms is a loft overlooking the main living area, so privacy is limited there but that wasn't a huge issue for us. Kitchen was great, cooked lots of good meals without issue. Basement is huge and was a great place for the kids to play. Internet was surprisingly fast, but we didn't need to use it too much owing to where we were staying. Propane grill could use an upgrade. Overall, can't say enough good things about the house and the hospitality. Highly recommended.
Great place for a relaxing and fun family getaway!
Our family of 6 stayed for a week in early June (apparently, just before the "season" kicks off in this area) and all had a WONDERFUL time here! The house is lovely with lots of space for everyone inside & out, gorgeous lake views and nice location to drive out for some excursions. Our 4 teenage kids had a lot of fun every evening in the downstairs "man cave" walk-out basement/rec room, with darts, pool table, foosball, games and comfy movie area. The only thing that would make the place better is if the shower in the master bath was completed, but at least it is nice that there is a dual sink/vanity since it's currently a half bath. Having washer & dryer downstairs was great & meant we could pack light for the trip.
The owners, Mike & Tracy, were SO sweet and helpful! We took the recommendations of other reviews to book a tour of the lake with Mike on his pontoon boat. It was a nice ride, around, seeing all the homes and hearing about local life - we also stopped at the public beach so the kids could hop out and explore. Was about 2 hours total. On our last nice day at the house, Mike even came over and challenged our two oldest boys to a dive in the lake off the dock (the water was still FREEZING COLD - and we are from Florida, so definitely not used to that!) and it was so much fun for them to have that experience. I don't think they would have gone in the water otherwise.
We also took advantage of the canoe & kayaks on the warm days and enjoyed roasting marshmallows over the firepit during the chilly evenings. The wood stove/fireplace was really nice to have and made a cozy fire inside too.
Easy day trips we took were out to visit the Green Lake Fish Hatchery nearby, see sights in Bangor, Bar Harbor/Acadia and also saw the Bay of Fundy in St. Andrews, N.B. Canada (a couple hours drive away). Around Otis, be sure to visit the General Store and pick up some breakfast sandwiches, and pizza for lunch or dinner. At Mike's recommendation, we also tried the crab rangoon - which were NOT on the menu but I'm so glad I asked for them - they might be the best I've ever had!!
Overall, a very fun, unforgettable trip! Thank you Mike & Tracy for sharing your beautiful place with us :) We made sure to sign the guest book and even gifted a new puzzle to the house for your next guests to enjoy too...
We had a wonderful time on the Pond! Everything we needed was available. The house was well equipped and the beach was perfect for our kids from age 2 to 40!!! Everything thing we could ask for!
This is a super great property to spend time at away from home. 3 levels of living! Great place for sunny days as well as rainy days. Nice space to enjoy family and little ones to play and sandy beach for the our toddlers. Great deck to enjoy eating outside, relaxing, and enjoying the views. Very clean!! We would definitely come again!
Owner Mike is the best!!!
Our group of 6 adults and 6 children loved this spot! Much time was spent on the dock swimming, lounging, and fishing. The location on Beech Hill Pond is great, and we found it relatively quiet, especially during the weekdays. Also, a quick drive to Ellsworth. We will be back!
My family enjoyed our stay at the house on Beech Hill Pond. Both the kids and adults enjoyed playing foosball, pool and darts. The backyard is a great place for kids to play and adults to relax. I would recommend this property.
This property was amazing. The house, the yard, beach, dock!! Everything was wonderful. Michael was so easy to work with and was very helpful. My 12 family members all had a great time and really enjoyed our stay. We cannot wait to come back.
