This home matches the description provided. It has plenty of beds and bedrooms for a large family to stay here. Its location just off Route 1 makes it very convenient to get to Ellsworth's Main Street. We stayed there while visiting Acadia National Park. The beds were a little too firm for my taste. Each room has a portable AC unit and worked well to keep the house cool, but were fairly loud in their operation. The kitchen was adequate with lots of dishes available for a large family. Overall, the house has a "camp" feel to it with paneled walls in the living room. Communication with the host was minimal, but we didn't really need much assistance.
We had a great week. Jon (the host) was amazing, responding to every question, typically within minutes. For a large group of mostly adults, sleeping arrangments were a bit of a challenge. Despite listing a capacity of 20, there are only enough beds for 13. The rest were on air mattresses. This would probably be OK for groups with smaller kids? The kitchen was fairly well stocked, but seating for large groups is very limited. Overall, we had a great time hanging out at The Maine House during our trip to Acadia and the surrounding area.
Our family found this property to be the perfect spot for us. It was very clean and had all the accessories we needed for a pleasant stay. We were close to Acadia National Park which had many fun things to do. We would highly recommend this home.
We had a great stay. Host is a wonderful guy, super responsive and helpful. House was mostly clean, couch and ottoman could use a cleaning, and somehow mosquitos and moths get in upstairs bathroom. And for sleeping a large group there isn't much dining table space, but we should've looked closer at the pictures. Outlets aren't particularly close to bed so pack an extension cord. But the beds were comfortable and the area is nice.
the property was okay - the floors were very uneven and rugs/transitions between rooms were trip hazards. The kitchen was minimally stocked. Also, there were bugs (dead & alive) in the bathrooms. We rented this property for the 3 bathrooms. Property Mgr was good and responsive.
This property was a lot of fun to stay at. Itâs a charming, rustic two story cottage with plenty of room for the 10 of us traveling together. Itâs 5-10 minutes from Ellsworth and 45 minutes from Acadia. We really enjoyed our time there. Our host, Jon, was great. Each time I contacted him, he responded almost immediately and was very helpful. All towels and linens are provided and thereâs plenty of pans and dishes for cooking. We had a little trouble watching a movie (it kept buffering and quitting on us) because the Wi-Fi was overwhelmed, but everything else was great. I would highly recommend this property!
It was a quick overnight graduation trip to Orono and of course I waited too late to book. This was about 45 minutes from UMaine but that was better than a 3 1/2 hour trip from home! The location was right of Rte 1 and close to everything we might need, including Walmart. The house was huge and very clean, just like the pictures. A few things to consider when staying - the stairs going to the second floor were steep, so watch young kids and older parents (this is an old house with lots of character that was renovated); there are some transition strips or door sashes that are not flat so make sure you step up. It is like this in many homes but better to mention it than to stub a toe! Our trip was super short so we did not get to enjoy the backyard or surrounding area very much. The owner was fantastic when my son and his girlfriend decided to spend the night before graduation with us rather than at UMaine. I contacted him and he immediately responded with a "no problem!". I would recommend this location to anyone, especially if you have a large group!
The stay was amazing! I took a large group of people to Acadia and the workers were very accommodating and friendly. Make sure to bring your own firewood for the pits outback! Lol
