The Writer's Studio is very a comfortable and tucked away little cottage. I was pleased with all the, privacy while still being in easy proximity to the bustle of woodstock. It was clean and had everything I needed for my visit. At night remember to look at the stars.

Long Fall weekend getaway

Comfy and cozy place, we were so relaxed during our stay. Location was perfect for us. The only thing i would like more of is water pressure in shower! We hope to get back there next fall!

Serene stay

The stay was wonderful. Peaceful and private place with a water source in the back yard that you can hear. Clean home and open communication with host. I highly recommend and will return in the future.

Quaint studio, beautiful grounds, killer location

The studio is very adorable and quaint. The location is amazingly central to Woodstock without being too close. The property is beautiful and well maintained. I wanted to just lounge in the yard and bask in the beautiful natural setting.

Fantastic Getaway

Everything is splendid - a true mountain gem. Only little drawback is that the sleeping couch is not the most comfortable in the world - but other than that just awesome !

Thank you for your review. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your time at the studio, but sorry that you found the bed uncomfortable. However, we really appreciate you bringing the issue to our attention. We investigated and discovered that in fact one of the springs was loose. We have corrected the problem, and restored the bed to its original excellent condition. In the past guests have commented on well they slept, and hopefully that will continue to be true. We have even provided an optional provision for guests who prefer a firmer bed. Again, thank you for your visit, your review, and most especially for your feedback. We appreciate it, and look forward to hopefully welcoming you back to the studio at some point soon!

Sweet Historic Cottage

Wonderful place to stay for visiting the village. Both the manager and the owner are kind and accommodating and it was a pleasure to communicate with them. The outdoor space is lovely and peaceful. It was challenging for two people on the inside without a bedroom and with a tiny shower, but the bathroom is very comfortable and pleasant.

Amazing .. above & beyond expectations

Great stay!! Pictures don’t do it justice .. perfect location and couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay .. the only minor minor downfall was a lot of ants in the kitchen so be careful with food. Other than that the place was absolutely perfect and can’t wait to go back!

Thank you for your sweet review! We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time at the studio. However, we're very sorry to hear that you encountered an issue with ants in the kitchen. That is so surprising, not only because ants have never been an issue before, but also because the weather is still cold and ants are usually not active this time of year. In any case, we so appreciate you bringing the issue to our attention so that we can address it immediately and ensure that it doesn't happen again. Again, we apologize for the disturbance/inconvenience, appreciate your understanding and patience, and are so glad that you enjoyed your time at the studio in spite of nature's intrusion!

We did not want to leave!

We had a lovely time enjoying the garden, Woodstock and its surroundings. It is the perfect spot for a quiet, relaxing time close to nature. Lovely friendly owner, quick to respond whenever we had a query and to fix the issue. We never wanted to move.

Perfectly romantic.

This sweet spot is a great place to experience the beauty of the area, and the cozy cottage also makes for a nice romantic getaway. My husband and I used it as home base for exploring various towns in the Hudson Valley and its proximity to Woodstock-proper can't be beat. Also, the kitchen is well stocked with all kinds of cookware, and since we also attended a group potluck event, I was able to make a fab dish with what was available in the kitchen. Highly recommended.

Wonderful!

This little cottage is so adorable and exactly as pictured. I would definitely come back. It's tucked away behind a private gate so feels very private. My one complaint is that the baseboard heat makes a clicking sound all night- I would recommend bringing a noise machine as it's pretty disruptive to your sleep!

Thank you, Lauren, for your review. We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed your time at the studio, but sorry that your sleep was disturbed by the baseboard heat. It is an unfortunate characteristic of baseboards that they sometimes click as the metal expands/contracts due to temperature variations. We appreciate your suggestion of a "white noise generator" to erase/absorb the sound at night, and have purchased/installed one for light sleepers. We've also provided an extra blanket, so that the thermostat can be turned down slightly at night to minimize how often the heat is triggered. We hope that these measures help to ensure that future guests (including light sleepers) get a great night's sleep in the winter. Again, we appreciate your review and suggestion, and look forward to hopefully welcoming you back to the studio sometime soon!

Incredibly charming!!! A slice of wilderness heaven. I loved waking up with the light hitting all the surrounding trees. It was so quiet and serene. I took 2 saunas a day and it’s glorious showering under the skylight. The middle of town is a stones throw away and walkable however I wouldnt walk the road after dark as there is no sidewalk. My biggest complaint is the pull out couch. It was one of the worst I’ve ever had to sleep on. You definitely have to sleep with your head at the foot of the bed to make it tolerable. Aside from the bed I absolutely loved it and cannot wait to return!!!

Small studio charming, great location, only sofa bed very uncomfortable and is the only bed

The cottage is a very small- one room studio with an uncomfortable sofa bed . We could feel the frame of the bed while lying down. Once the bed was open there was hardly any space to walk around to get to the bathroom or kitchen area. The shower was a 2.5 ft square and off the kitchen The review didn’t make it obvious that there was only a sofabed and no dedicated bedroom Now when I read the description I see they never said there was a queen size bed or a double bed instead it’s cryptically described If we had realized that there was no separate bedroom and only a sofa bed to sleep on,we wouldn’t have chosen this property. But if the person reading this review is ok with this, then this is a perfect place for you It’s very small, charming, cozy and a great location
