Berkeley home with cottage & hot tub, near UC & SF
Classic and comfy three bedroom two-bath Berkeley wood shingle home near cafes and shops. Peaceful, meditative garden, kitchen designed for those who love to cook. Backyard cottage & hot tub. Near UC Berkeley and public transit. 20 minutes to downtown San Francisco. Hour from Napa and Sonoma vineyards. Yosemite about 3.5 hours away. Two cats (Kenya & Gracie) will serve as your staff or perhaps vice-versa. We would like for guests to care for them during your stay (food, kitty litter and the occasional pat.) Downstairs includes a large kitchen with a Viking stove and breakfast nook, dining room and living room with a fireplace. The downstairs bathroom has a shower.
There are three-bedrooms upstairs including a large master bedroom (King bed) with a walk-in closet and two additional wood-paneled bedrooms. One has a queen bed and the other a double Japanese futon. There's a clawfoot tub in the upstairs bathroom to soak in, but also has a shower.
The deck off the kitchen is a pleasant place for coffee or if it's warm enough an outdoor meal.
The back cottage is a quiet place to work or soak in the hot tub...or both. It includes a couch that converts to a double bed. It's about 200 square feet with views of the garden. There's a quiet place to sit outside the cottage for a cup of tea or glass of wine.
Stayed here with some friends and it was a very comfy home. We had the pleasure of taking care of the homeownerâs kitties Kenya and Gracie. They were sweethearts and kept us in company whenever we would come back. David was very communicative during our stay and provided thorough check-in/out and amenities informations. Overall a great spot for a mini vacation in Berkeley/SF!
we were all doing a workshop in Berkeley. We wanted to stay together, so this was great to have 5 people in one house.
Only 2 bathrooms, so we had to be careful and considerate so we could all get out on time!
Great kitchen.. nice to have a hot tub- and the cats were a serious PLUS.
It was very fun.
My wife and I have been avid travelers and have lived abroad in Bali, Indonesia and Rome. We have two young granddaughters here in Berkeley now, so we're not on the road as much. We love to have guests enjoy our house while we're traveling and our cats, Kenya and Gracie, love meeting new people.
It's a family neighborhood, and we love walking to our favorite cafes for coffee and meeting friends at Berkeley Bowl and Whole Foods. Our granddaughters like the kid's parks nearby. There are also some great restaurants and shops on Shattuck Avenue, and in the nearby Elmwood and Rockridge neighborhoods. It's also near UC Berkeley and San Francisco is easy to get to on BART. Ashby Station is 3 blocks away.
Our house is a cozy brown-shingle with lots of character. We're renovated the kitchen because we love to cook, and you'll welcome to try your favorite recipes. There are fresh herbs in the garden for you to cook with. Both the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms also have been renovated. There's a claw foot tub to take bubble baths upstairs. In the back is a cottage where you can hang, sleep or work. And there's a hot tub to soak in. The garden is calm and there's a deck for drinking tea and coffee and for meals if it's warm.
