Only 3 minutes from hiking in Giant City State Park, 5 minutes to the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, 6 minutes from SIU, and 8 minutes to Cedar Lake. This is the perfect base for hiking, visiting wineries, hunting, and enjoying other activities in beautiful Southern IL.
Cabin was super clean and very cozy. The host had everything ready and a sweet goody basket. Great stay and will seek accomodations at the cabins again next year.
Thank you Steve for hosting us at the cabin. What beautiful & peaceful location! We always enjoy our time around the wine trail and orchards! We have never been disappointed when we have stayed any of your properties. We also appreciate you letting us do a late checkout today.
Cabin # 5 is awesome. We stayed 3 nights ..cooked steaks and burgers on the grill and had a couple of camp fires in the back. The place is clean and had everything we needed. We opened the blinds and let in sunshine all day..the price is right and the owners care about that place. I love it!!!
Clean and secure cabin that is a duplex. Somewhat dated with a few dings on the walls and exterior that could use new paint/stain. No stove but there were several small appliances to cook with i.e. slow cooker, skillet, toaster. Bed was clean and comfortable. Could benefit from an additional reading light behind recliner. Everything worked and would not hesitate staying here again!
The location was good and I like to bow hunt and they have good deer hunting in the area. My wife enjoyed her stay also, we went to a winery just a few miles away and enjoyed that also. We plan on going again next year.
Was such a roomy cabin with all of the comforts of home! Steve definitely thought of everything! We will definitely make this a yearly visit!
The cabin itself was close to everything yet secluded for a private feel. I highly recommend a visit
We had a nice stay at the cabin. It was very clean and in a nice area, easy to find. A screen in the sliding door was ripped so we did not open it. The small fridge was too cold and we had a hard time adjusting it so some of our food froze. But overall we would recommend this cabin. The area is very hilly and beautiful with lots of hiking trails. Some difficult to find.
We absolutely loved our stay here. So peacefully quiet, love the little welcome baskets. It was super clean and had everything we needed for the stay. Loved sitting on the deck enjoying the morning coffee or looking at the stars. It's great that the property is close enough to town it's not a hassle to run to the store, but it's remote enough to not be bothered.
We came to visit our son at SIU for a few days. This was a great option for bringing our little dog with us. We were very pleasantly surprised to see how well the wifi connection was as we both worked remotely during this time. The cabin was clean, comfortable and close to a residential area where we took several long walks. We also appreciated the air conditioning when the temperatures rose above 80.
Basicly the property was what we wanted but it turned out to have been infested with fleas . We got eaten up pretty good before we discovered the source . We enjoyed the area.
The cabin was situated close to some hiking trails and not far from Shawnee. I stayed there with my two four-legged hiking buddies. Plenty of room, everything worked and was clean. Place had WiFi made it easier to download my body cam footage straight to my laptop. All in all, I will stay there again. Steve was very helpful and made sure I liked the cabin. He even pointed out flaws â apologied for them; even though they were not noticeable to me. He made the stay even more comfortable than it already was. I would recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere to chill at after spending the entire day exploring the national forests in the area.
