Firstly, the check in process was simple. Secondly, the location was great for what I wanted to do...walking distance to explore Victoria and a short Bolt ride to Nadur. Thirdly, the place is cute and all I needed for a couple of nights whilst exploring Gozo.I met Jeremy briefly as he helped resolve the first lack of internet connection, and he was friendly, helpful and chatty.The reasons for the 3 stars...The first star related to the mattress is past its use by date and you can feel each spring in it, which didn't make for a great night's sleep. The pillows were great, the mattress not so much. The second star related to the road noise - if you like a late sleep on your holidays, bring your ear plugs, because the road is surprisingly busy, Maltese drivers love a heavy right foot, and the door isn't sound proof, so the cars sound like they are driving through the apartment. A heavyweight floor to ceiling curtain, I expect would make a huge difference. Finally, the internet was very hit and miss. Jeremy fixed the first outage but the second one occurred when I arrived home too late to bother him and remained an issue on the last morning.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

Roam is based in Xewkija with a choice of two supermarkets just a few doors up and several bus stops nearby. You can park right outside for free. If you're feeling peckish, check out the pizzeria and quaint family run bakery just up the road too! Being centrally located, you can conveniently travel to any of the desirable locations on the island in just a 15 min drive. Although do not rush out of the village too soon as Xewkija has a lot to offer. The village has a population of a little over 3,000 and is the oldest on the island, remaining relatively untouched. Take a walk to admire the beautiful farmhouses, incredible architecture and charm that rings throughout the town. Roam is just a 5 min walk away is the famous Xewkija Church. Measuring at 75 meters high and 27 meters wide; it is the third-largest unsupported dome in the world, right after St Peter’s in Rome and St Paul’s Cathedral. Inside the church you can admire the beautiful artwork, vast architecture and even take a lift to the top for an incredible 360 degree view of Gozo for that perfect photo. Amazed by the picturesque view of the church? Soak it up a little longer in the beautifully converted piazza, where you can enjoy anything from coffee in the morning to fine dining restaurants in the evening. Beach lover? Then why not take a swim at Xewkija's stunning Mgarr-ix-xini which was made famous by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's film "by the sea"
