If you're looking for a great place on the lake in a good neighborhood this is it. The house has everything you need and some. The screened in back deck is awesome. Short easy walk down to the dock. Super quiet and peaceful. The host is easy to communicate with and provided everything we needed. Thanks Marc!

Great house, nice location, well equipped. Really liked the lake access, swimming and boating equipment. The screened porch was also a great.Our only issue was that the kids room didn’t have a privacy door on it so we did not feel we could use that room for younger kids, although with a privacy door it would have been perfect. Other than that this house was an excellent get away for us.

Perfect blended family getaway! Worked great for all ages … the 20 something’s and the family with small child. Everything you need for time away on the lake is there! I feel like they did a great job of thinking of all the little things:) Kitchen was very well stocked for all types of cooking and feeding the crew!

Nice house layout on beautiful lakeside property. Inside is clean and fairly well-appointed. Wonderful that they allow pets! Outside amenities can use some updating and cleaning. Issues were dealt with in a timely and effective manor.

Went for a weekend of fishing to celebrate son’s birthday. The house was the perfect setup and had everything we needed!! Love all the life jackets in every size. Can’t wait to go back!!

I've been staying at the Lake for 15 years in different rentals. Here is what I liked about this one:1. Trash does not need to be delivered off-site.2. Internet was pretty good.3. House was equipped with everything you will need. Linens, towels, games, kitchen items...4. Boat ramp is super nice and close.5. Super quiet and nice neighborhood.6. Plenty of dock space for my jet skis and my boat to tie up.7. 9-10 feet at the end of the DockPerfect for our family vacation.

Wow what fun

Great house lots of water toys and games activities wonderful communicative host great screened in porch and dock House even had a generator which automatically came on when we lost power Highly recommended!

Great place, 3 toddlers managed great! Host provided plenty of essentials including kids toys, pack and play, high chair etc. Communication and description was great. If i had to improve anything it would be toliet paper quality and clarify the bunk bed room has no door, its a converted den/rec room. Which is fine but not exact going to work for everyone. Overall great experience!

Memories Made

Our family had an unbelievable time. Every single item we needed was already there plus more. Great location, great layout in the home and communication with the property manager was SO easy which was a plus. Easy drive to Dollar General and Food Lion too for last minute items for the family. Highly recommend!!!

Had a Great Experience

Everything was as described. Very nice house in a quiet location. Marc was right there for every step of the process and was very quick to answer us with any questions we had. If you are looking for a first class rental house on Gaston Lake you won't be disappointed here.

Kick back and enjoy!

Don’t go for the view or close proximity to the grocery store. Do go for a very comfortable, kid and pet friendly vacation. You’ll have everything you need for your stay. Loads of plush towels, comfy beds, plenty of games, and a well-stocked kitchen made us feel at home. Great fishing right off the dock! If you can, rent a boat, at least for a few days.

Perfect long weekend

The house and grounds were in great condition. Modern, clean, well appointed. We loved swimming, kayaking and floating off the dock. Felt safe and peaceful. We rented a pontoon for the day from the point (9 miles drive). A wonderful relaxing stay. Stock up before you visit. It is a very rural area. Perfect for a quiet family getaway.

Family Vacation

Pros: Very nice house in a nice neighborhood, easy walk down to the water. Close to public boat ramp, with deep water. Nice dock for swimming and fishing. Dock has two boat lifts and one jet ski lift. Cons: about a 1/4 mile no wake zone from home to main lake for boating or jet skiing, no gas pump on lake near by so take your own fuel, nearest grocery store is in South Hill about a 20 mile drive. Over all house is very nice with fully equipped kitchen for cooking.

Family Vacation

We had the best time together at Better Lake Than Never! The house was spacious and comfortable, the kitchen was very well stocked, the kids' room was perfect and the lake was amazing! The kids in our party used the paddle boards and the kayaks every day of our stay! The house is located on a cul-de-sac and the kids played lacrosse in the street each day! We loved sitting in the screened porch or on the dock all day and then sitting around the firepit at night! Marc was very responsive and accommodating. We would love to stay at this home again!

Truly Wonderful Stay!

We had a fantastic stay at Better Lake Than Never! The home was exactly as described - clean, comfortable, spacious, and thoughtfully decorated. Marc the host was incredibly responsive and made check-in a breeze. We especially appreciated home away from home comforts such as a surplus of fresh towels and a well-stocked kitchen with high quality cookware and utensils. The large jetted tub was clean and so very relaxing, not to mention the provided kayaks, life vests, fishing rods, tons of games - even a full badminton set and a foosball table - made our stay that much more pleasant and memorable. Since Better Lake Than Never is pet friendly, we were able to bring our shih-poo along with us, giving us peace of mind while we were away, as well as giving her the opportunity to enjoy her very first vacation! Being right on the water was absolutely beautiful! The retractable awning was a huge plus, as it allowed us to eat lunches outside in comfort. Fishing off the boat dock was so much better than expected. We caught several large catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, perch, crappie, and a pike! We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!-The Berkeypile Family (and Izzy the dog)
