Family and pet friendly stylish home in excellent Heights location.
Traveling with children and fur babies made easy at this family friendly mid century modern styled home. Centrally located in the Heights, walking distance to all the best drinking and dining locations. Huge backyard for kids and pets to roam. 2 playrooms to keep your little ones entertained for days! High speed internet and smart tv for everyone. Come and relax at the PINES! Both bedrooms have comfy queen beds, and the play bedroom has a bunk bed!
The property manager was very nice and extremely accommodating. Located in the Heights neighborhood with so many food options. Perfect location for foodies đ
This rental was perfect for my three kids! They enjoyed playing with all the toys and reading all the books. The beds were comfortable and the decor was so cute. Location was perfect and close to many delicious restaurants.
The Pines was such a wonderful destination for our family! The check in process and communication with the owners was a breeze. The owners are incredibly friendly and have a great sense of humor, even sending us donuts one morning for helping out with something another guest left. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. Our children very much enjoyed themselves - inside and outside! Highly recommend for other families.
Wonderful property with a massive, fully fenced backyard that would be a dog or child's paradise! The open space was perfect for running and playing. We didn't have kids with us, but the indoor play area, books are kids bedroom were adorable. The kitchen was well-equipped, though we didn't do much cooking as we were enjoying Restaurant Week
We have two toddlers, and they loved the playroom and toys! They didn't want to leave the house when we first got there. It is also pet friendly, and we brought our 12 year old pug. Host was very quick with any questions we had. It is also within walking distance to multiple restaurants/breweries. Highly recommend, especially if you have little ones and pets.
The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The fenced in back yard is very nice, especially when traveling with a pet. Our hosts were friendly and offered lots of information about restaurants in the area. In the online pictures, the rooms and the house look much bigger than they actually are, so it was a little cozyâŠbut nice.
Our kids loved the house especially the play room. We had a issue with the air conditioner not working the first day causing us to stay at a hotel, but the owner had fixed the second day and issue a refund for the first day.
This house was perfect for our family clan to stay. The toddlers loved the toy/play room and had tons of fun playing with the water table. This home had all of the comforts of home, streaming TV , comfortable beds and a pack/n-play. While we did not bring any pets with us the back yard be a great place for dogs to runaround. We would rent again when we visit the Heights. Very good experience!
Spent some time here with my pets. The house was comfortable with a big yard and relatively clean. Reason for lower rating are some issues like:
- front lock access digital key not working properly
- large piss stain in living room carpet
- no soap at all in property when I stayed
- yard was disorganized and not as shown in pictures (chairs randomly scattered, children play fixture right next to door, broken washing and drying machine in the middle of patio.
- no lights at all in the backyard
- oven and stove top not working properly
- toys and kid fixtures scattered randomly in all rooms of the house (good if you have kids)
- owner is not very friendly during communication (judge for yourself)
Other than that, place us comfortable and stay was mostly enjoyable.
This property suited us as it is close to family living in Houston and had great kids toys and books. The downside is that there is a need for more maintenance especially the kitchen - the cupboards and gas oven in particular. There is a large grassed back garden area which the children were excited about but unfortunately there were spikey weeds and fire ant nests - one was well established under the door mat and beside the back door.
My father was having a huge medical procedure done at a fantastic hospital so my sister and I with our families decided to surprise them and come to Houston to be with them. We originally scheduled another place to stay and that was a disaster, but The Pines saved us!! It's very much like being at home. Our hosts were absolutely amazing! We will definitely stay here again. It's an amazing location near many restaurants in really great coffee shops. I did kind of move furniture around and one of the bedrooms due to the fact that there were only two beds and we actually used an air mattress bed for my 12-year-old to sleep on but that was no big deal. We were fully aware of that. I can't emphasize enough how great our hosts were.
My husband and I, and our son's family stayed at Shady Acres this past week. This was best short term rental we have had in a very long time. The house was as advertised and then some. It is a roomy, comfortable place for children and family. All rooms were perfectly clean, the kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of towels. The house was fully supplied with toys and arrangements for young children. Our grandchildren loved the child seating areas, the outside yard and of course all the trucks and cars. They tolerated the great collection of books, but the adults loved those. In addition the house is in a great location for shopping and eating out, which we did a lot. Fritz is an excellent and responsive host. We come to Houston fairly often to visit family. We are grateful to have found Shady Acres and will return.
House was totally fine. Was tidy but not clean. Neighborhood is good but the actual block of the house has a bunch of rundown houses with broken cars in the yard and chain link fences. Was functional for sleeping but we tried to spend as little time there as possible
Great property especially if you have a child or children with you. You know what they say about real estate.. location, location, location!
The home is in the a great neighborhood in Houston called the Heights. Itâs a dead end street so not a lot of traffic. Big fenced yard with lots of toys for young children. Walking distance or short drive to great restaurants or shopping etc.. grocery store less than 5 mins away.
Would stay at Fritzâs home again if visiting Houston!
Overall the house is nice. It is an older home and could use some updates. It lacks some of the amenities of a newer home. (Lack of electrical outlets in main bathroom and secondary shower is very small.) It is a comfortable house. There are toys everywhere in this home. A childâs dream! The landscaping needs some work, but it appears as if Houston needs some rain! Host was responsive when we had a small issue.
Enjoyed the unit, had great amenities for our 15 mon grandson (portable crib, high chair, toy room, changing table) and our 2 daughters and son in laws enjoyed the bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and well stocked kitchen
We will definitely check it out again on a future visit to Houston.
