Welcome to The Hideaway on Hazel. A luxury smart home with a hot tub!

Our home is centrally located in Ames and is an easy walk to Jack Trice Stadium, Hilton Coliseum, and Reiman Gardens. Great location for football games, basketball games, and any other events at The Iowa State Center.

The Space:
This home is great for Cyclone fans, parents of ISU students, visiting ISU scholars, and business people.

Our home features:
-Outdoor space with hot tub, fire pit, and fenced-in backyard
-Smart Home Devices: 1G Wi-Fi, Smart TV, Nest Thermostat, and smart speaker
-Fully equipped kitchen
-Completely stocked coffee bar with Ninja Coffee maker. Coffee maker can make a single cup or full pot of coffee
-King bed sleeps 2 people. Queen bed sleeps 2 people. Could fit a 5th person on the sofa.
-Both King and Queen mattresses are memory foam
-Washer and dryer
-Dedicated workspace
-Off-street parking in the driveway

Guests are welcome to use all the living areas of the house and backyard.

Fantastic location and dog friendly but cleaning needs work

We were in town for a wedding that was on the Iowa State campus. It was a perfect location to have us close to campus and a great place for dogs with a fenced yard and walking trail near by. The size of the place and the location were perfect for our needs. However, we would have like to have seen the place better attended to with cleaning. The kitchen appliances need a good thorough clean, ceiling fans were caked with dust and so was the bathroom counter. It also would have been helpful to have a can opener in the kitchen. We also were only given a half roll of toilet paper, which we discovered when we ran out! If these issues are attended to, I'd rate this place much higher and consider it a great place to stay.

Great little place!

This house was the perfect place for us to stay while we were in town for our kid's hockey tournament. It's super close to Jack Trice and the ISU/Arena. Not far from restaurants/fast food/Target. The house itself is really nice, and we enjoyed the hot tub as well! Some of the dishes were still dirty but nothing we couldn't clean up quick before use! Alexis was great with communicating and was even willing to accommodate us with a later check out if needed depending on our game schedule. We would definitely stay here again!

Nice, Quiet Weekend

My oldest friend and I met to stay here because it's halfway between where we each live. We were looking for a peaceful getaway to catch up. The house was clean, quiet, and well-stocked with everything we needed. The hot tub was a really nice addition. We would definitely stay again!

Highly Recommend - Great Location & Place

Overall I had a great experience with the Hideaway. The location was perfectly located, the house was clean and spacious, and the communication was timely and detailed. I would highly recommend this place and will book again if I am back in Ames!

Fantastic location

This is the perfect location if staying for a game at Iowa State. It was just a short easy walk to the stadium. The owner was responsive great house and beds. My only issue was with the shower. It looked like it got missed in the cleaning process. Other than that our stay was lovely and I would recommend this VRBO.

Great place

Great location in town. The backyard is a huge plus with seating and a hot tub! Wasn’t an issue but a heads up that you will have to log into your google account for the tv to work and be able to use.

Great Location!

We were in town with friends for an ISU football game and had a great stay at this property! The house is very clean, nicely decorated and just a short walk to the stadium! Alexis was so easy to work with, and very accommodating! We will definitely be back!

Great spot

This was way better than a hotel for us. My husband, sister-in-law and I were in town for a family reunion. We did not spend a ton of time in the house, but we’re able to sit together and enjoy coffee and have a lovely chat on the sofa, we will stay here again on our next visit to Ames.

Property Manager Ghosted Us

The Property Manager denied us from booking again. We reached out to her to ask why and she never responded to us. We were a bit late in checking out and apologized so that may be the case, but we just don’t know.

Comfortable home close to ISU campus

Conveniently located near Iowa State campus! Very comfortable home with a great back yard and long driveway. Perfect place for us to stay while visiting our Cyclone.

This 2 bedroom house was perfect for our stay. It was nice and clean. Beds were comfortable. Hot tub was amazing. Would definitely recommend and would book again.

Adorable Hideaway

We were so impressed with the Hideaway! Decorated so beautifully, well furnished, comfortable beds, pillows and soft towels. The only negatives were that the refrigerator was dirty inside but the rest of the home was very clean. Also, we almost ran out of toilet paper and the lid on the hot tub was left open so that it was too cold to go in the first night. But it’s a lovely, large backyard and very private.

Loved the Property!

The house was exactly as promised and the perfect place to stay while visiting our 2 ISU students. The home was clean and thoughtfully laid out. The kitchen was fully stocked which allowed us to to make several homecooked dinners for our kids and their friends. We loved the spacious seating in the dining room and family room and the kids made good use of the large back yard. Our walk to a home game was only 5 minutes and there was plenty of driveway parking on game day. Would highly recommend!

HIdeaway at Hazel

This property was just what we needed for our Girl's Weekend. The location was terrific (and I bet during football season it is prime real estate!). We had everything we needed but had a couple of small hiccups. Being new to VRBO, I didn't know I was supposed to receive an automated text with our code to get in. That was resolved when we used the Ring doorbell to contact the owners. We were also excited to use the hot tub in the backyard but the state of the year impacted our enjoyment. The yard was overgrown and we had to deal with mosquitos which drove us inside pretty quickly (summer in Iowa, right?!?). Also, the towels that were put away and folded were still wet, but luckily there is a dryer in the basement. Overall good stay and would recommend.

Great Stay 5 stars

Awesome place will def stay again if I’m in the area. Great location, comfy beds, very clean, driveway, hot tub and fire pit a bonus. Communication was very easy; Alexis was very responsive and helpful.
