This charming cottage is a haven tucked off of Folly Road. Only 5 minutes from Folly Beach and 8 minutes from downtown historical Charleston. The porch over looks a large back yard that is framed in by four majestic Grand Oaks that are draped with Spanish Moss, hence how the cottage was named. While relaxing it is possible to see occasional wildlife!
There is a large driveway for big toys! Grocery store, restaurant/bar and brewery right across Folly Rd.
OP-04780 Guest access: The charm of the place is that it's tucked off the road! Rafael Lane can be tricky to find. Get in the median right across from Bohemian Bull restaurant. The dirt road is on the left. After turning onto the Lane, take a right at the first drive and come straight back down a gravel drive. There will be a larger house on right with the cottage after.
We absolutely loved our stay at the cottage. The host lives on site and greeted us when we got there and gave great recommendations as this was our first time to Charleston. He was always available if needed. Great communication. Great area for dogs to run around. We did not use the outdoor space but the fire pit area and outside bar were nice option. Inside space was spacious and well cared for. Highly recommend and plan to return. The only downside was the entrance road to turn on was tricky to find especially in the dark and with lots of traffic.
Landscaping was beautiful, cottage had everything I needed. I was there for a week a few days didnât leave the place, just enjoying the privacy & the surroundings. I would definitely be back, owner was awesome. You wonât be disappointed if you spend your next vacation there.
We loved our stay!! It was a perfect spot right between Folly and DT Charelston!! We absolutely loved the peacefulness and quietness of this house after our long fun packed days!! We will definitely recommend this to friends and family!!!
We were very impressed! Beautiful area, peaceful & serene. Very clean and neat & well stocked on essential thingsWe had a wonderful time! Would love to come back.
This trip was supposed to just be my husband, the dog, and me. But, ended up bringing the whole family (2 kids ages 11 & 16). Our hosts were flexible with the kid addition and accommodated our large breed dog. The cottage was small. However, it had everything we needed. We all slept comfortably. The AC worked great! The cottage is adorably decorated and has one of the most amazing landscapes. The location is truly prime, super close to the beach and very close to awesome restaurants, downtown Charleston, and great grocery stores. We had a short weekend trip and thoroughly made use of our time. Would love to come back and visit.
Lovely cottage surrounded by oaks and foliage. Quiet and peaceful but also conveniently located near Folly Road. About 15 minutes from Folly Beach and Charleston and 30 from the airport. The owners live next door and weâre friendly and welcoming. They have local favorites and suggestions if you are looking for something off the beaten path.
We loved the cottage! It was in a quiet area and the road noise was very faint offering a peaceful experience which is nice when you have a dog with anxiety like mine. There were no distractions around so he was a very happy pup! The kitchen and restroom was well equipped and the laundry room is just a short walk next door! The porch was also a big plus! Thank you to our hosts for a great stay!
We loved our stay at Grand Oaks Cottage. The owner, Andy, was so kind and accommodating. Our dogs enjoyed the yard, we loved having bonfires and eating breakfast on the screened porch. The small AC unit worked really well! And the shower has very strong water pressure. We were amazed how accessible the location is to both folly beach and downtown Charleston. Other than the occasional airplane and background traffic sounds, we felt tucked away in our own little paradise!
Location is perfect. Accommodations are accurately listed.
Loved how close it is to Folly Beach without being right in the busyness. Lots of privacy. Only 2 pinch points were the comfiness of the chairs on the back porch. We spent a lot of time there with our toddler sleeping in the house and the chairs aren't great for long sits. And then the driveway off of the main road is tricky and we smacked the bottom of our minivan a few times. But truly a great place to stay and the hosts are awesome and friendly.
This little cottage is spectacular. The surroundings are beautiful. Perfect location to see all the beautiful things in Charleston. Close to restaurants. The cottage was equipped with everything you could think of, and was immaculate. The bed was very comfortable. The host was very friendly, and available to answer questions. We will absolutely be staying here again.
First, I absolutely recommend this property for folks visiting the area, especially if you have a dog! I was in town visiting a friend and working for a couple days, and the cottage suited my needs perfectly. It was cozy, clean, had a LARGE yard with fun amenities, and had a convenient location for my activities. I also had a chance to meet the hosts who were very welcoming and accommodating. Location wise, the cottage is hidden off a main road (Folly Beach Road), so it is super convenient in terms of getting around John's Island and Folly Island. The large yard and outdoor amenities definitely add the the nice vibe of the cottage and made it a nice place to hang outside.
Absolutely loved our stay. The area is so beautiful and the house we stayed in was just the perfect size for us. Close to everything Charleston had to offer. The owners were extremely friendly. Definitely one of the most comfortable vacations we have ever been on. We really want to come back one day. Thank you so much!
Hi! Andy here..Im the owner. I'm originally from Baltimore, Maryland and have made Charleston my home for the last 37 years. My future wife, Dawn, and I enjoy spending time together cheering sports, travel, food, friends and maintaining the grounds of Grand Oaks Cottage...oh and a good cold cocktail.
Great question! I'ts in the middle of owhere but close to everyting. My vision for Grand Oaks Cottage is for it to not be a place for guests to just sleep but be the destination in itself.
