Cozy Cabin on Claytor Lake close to Radford and Blacksburg
Enjoy the fun of being on Claytor Lake in a cozy cabin close to Radford University (10 min) and Virginia Tech (30 min). This cabin is a retreat from it all! Take in the sunset views, swim, all with plenty to do nearby.
Beautiful location for a celebratory cookout with a few people to celebrate two VT masters graduates. Nice place for the two of us parents to stay. Lake view and great at sunset. Small but had everything we needed! Much better than a hotel. Great host.
The lack of usable furniture in this place was the biggest disappointment. The bunkbeds are in a tiny space that has no window so there no natural light and no air can really get to the space. The bunkbed squeaks from any movement so both kids were not able to sleep thru the night. The furniture in the main space feels old, dirty and uncomfortable. The rugs on the floor especially in the bathroom are gross. Overall I feel like for the pricing there could be more thought put into the set up and quality of furniture, especially if there are days that it storms and you donât have the option to be outside. And I think it should be put into the description that the dock is shared by others as well.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay here. The house was clean and very well stocked. The host was very nice. The location was great and the lake is beautiful.
The house was perfect for us to enjoy with our grandson, who had his 8th Birthday while we were there. Comfortable beds, flowers and a bottle of wine awaiting us, a beautiful front yard view of the lakeâŠ.it couldnât have been any better!
The cabin was cute inside, outside the view was spectacular! We were welcomed with fresh flowers, wine, chocolate and donuts; what more could you ask for? The cabin had everything youâd need, from linens to kitchen appliances, dishes, etc., to tv and Wi-Fi. Would love to go back.
Great little place to relax and visit student at VT 30 min away. I appreciated the little touches likes fresh flowers, a box of fresh doughnuts, and a bottle of dessert wine. Directions and check in were clear, even when we arrived after dark and following the hostâs directions exactly the 2nd time around. Cabin was very cute and comfy. Great view of the lake. The day bed not in the picture was even better. Would come back again.
A rural and rustic place to stay for a Hokies weekend
We stayed for a Hokies football game and it an extremely cold weekend. Iâm sure this is a great place for the summer and the lake, but without central heat, we had to use 4 space heaters to get the place warm, though it would sometimes trip the fuse. A thermometer in the house put the temp at 57* inside the first night.
It was also a good deal more rustic than weâd imagined and the one bedroom with bunk beds was a cinderblock room with no windows that my sister refused to sleep in because she said it felt like a jail cell⊠Thankfully there was a daybed in the main room she slept in. There is no couch.
We still had fun and this was a very sweet family lake cabin, but for almost $600 for two nights I donât think weâd stay again. Just wanted to leave an honest review so others have more realistic expectations.
Iâm so late to writing this review but it needs to be done - our stay here was amazing! My best friend and I now live 6 hours apart and we met in the middle here to have a long weekend with just the two of us, no husbands or pets or work, etc.. it was cloudy, and sorta cold, and it rained a bit- and we still had an absolute blast! We hung out on the dock and tied a raft to it and just climbed in with our leggings and hoodies and blankets. Who needs bikinis anyway? The house layout was fun to move around and rearrange for activities- and we spent a full day crafting and talking. The house itself felt was cozy and intimate and so much more comfortable than being in something like a hotel room. The sunsets were PHENOMENAL. We almost panicked because we brought a lasagna only to realize thereâs no oven, but the microwave functions as a convection oven and it worked out perfectly. The host left us a bottle of wine and some donuts- I mean T this point theyâre our best friends too. Communication was quick and easy, there were no issues. We did struggle with the WiFi BUT it was made very clear to us theyâd help if we had any problems and we chose to go without sooo that was basically a choice on our end. I donât think Iâd want to be here with more than a total of 3 adults- or maybe 2 adults/2 small kids because it is small. But if the weather is nice and everybody is outside honestly, go for it! We will definitely be back. :)
We loved our stay - the hosts were incredible they treated us like family. We enjoyed the house, the lake, beautiful sunsets & deer roaming the property!! It was an incredible family experience we canât wait to return.
We had a wonderful stay at Woody's place; we were in town for a University graduation. Woody and his wonderful wife Louise were simply wonderful people, very welcoming, hospitable, and friendly. The property itself is beautiful and we had a comfortable stay. I can wholeheartedly endorse Woody and this location as a vacation spot.
