This house was perfect for us! Itâs located on a quiet cove and close to everything. The house has an amazing view and had everything we needed for our stay. Each bedroom had its own bathroom, which was very nice and the beds were extremely comfortable. Great communication from the property owners, too. Highly recommend!
This home on Claytor Lake is special to us. It is private and quiet. It has all the tools needed for a wonderful visit. This was our 5th visit, so we don't need to say anything else. Enjoy! Howard, Janis & Scarlett
This home is an absolute gem. Great fishing on the lake or off the dock. Tons of space and the owner has thought of absolutely everything! Kitchen is exceptionally well appointed. Very private and peaceful just minutes from town. Steve was very knowledgeable of the area and let us know about a local festival and fireworks display as well as some of the best locations on the lake for fishing. Hoping to make this a yearly thing for our family!
Great stay. Used the dock for our pontoon. Enjoyed the sunrise and sunsets. Location was great. Off the main channel with limited boat traffic. Launched boat at State Park and brought it to the dock. Only took a few minutes. Wish there were some cleats on the dock for tie off but we managed. House was great everything we needed and very comfortable. We will be back.
We stayed here for a weekend while attending an event at Radford University. If you heading to the area and looking at a few places side-by-side trying to decide, let me nudge you to this place. The interior, with its hanging plants and hand-constructed spiral staircase held up by a tree trunk is unique and beautiful. The view off the back porch of the lake is peaceful and lovely. Our stay was short, so we didn't have much of a chance to fully enjoy the surroundings, but it is a perfect place for a family get-together in the woods by the lake, something we might actually go back and do. Steve, the property owner, was helpful from beginning to end.
Classic lake house. Family place for tons of fun. Virginia countryside awesome. Local Draper Mercantile a treasure spot and proximity to Va Tech perfect!!!
Our family stayed during VT graduation weekend. The house was very comfortable. Everything we needed for making meals and eating together. Family enjoyed fishing, playing basketball, and there was plenty of space for us to gather and visit. It was a lovely location on the lake!
Our 4th or 5th stayâŠ. Itâs like coming home. Rustic and comfortable at the same time with the very best view and swimming spot on the lake. Thanks Steve and Laurie!!
Great weather this week. Fun on rafts throughout the day at the dock. House was good. Well stocked. Love sitting on back deck at night. Great location!!!
Beautiful views from the deck while having morning coffee! Steven gave me great directions to find the place - GPS will not get you all the way. Everything you need is there, and Steven is just up the road if you need anything, but we just relaxed and enjoyed touring the Blue Ridge Mountains. A little too chilly to dip in the lake, but fishing boats trolled the creek every morning, so bring your pole if you want to fish off the dock!
This property is awesome! Very family friendly. Fishing and swimming were great right off the docks. Would highly recommend. Stayed for the long weekend after dropping our daughter at VT. Hosted a few of her friends. Perfect setting.
This property has a beautiful view and the downstairs bedrooms have very comfortable beds. The owners live close by and brought us some very yummy cinnamon rolls one day! You couldnât ask for better communication from them and so nice! We rented a pontoon for 3 days from Rockhouse Marina and they deliver and pick up the boat to this house!! Great fishing off the dock and our family had an amazing time! Thanks for sharing your house with usâ
Lake view from the house is outstanding. Hosts are lovely and communicative. Home had all household things needed to cook or grill at home. Their restaurant recommendations were spot on. Super easy to rent kayaks and paddleboards nearby. Only negative is that my husband and kids would have loved the hot tub in the pictures to be working. Caveat: my husband and kids love hot tubs. Overall, it was a great place to spend some family time before dropping off a freshman at VT and very happy with our stay.
Very nice place. We fished off the dock the first day fairly successfully. Heavy rains were forecast and lake authorities drew the lake down about 3 feet the first night we were there. That put a damper on fishing, but we still got some kayaking in between rain showers. Provided us what we wanted most, quiet relaxation.
Our Family had an awesome time at this Lake house. The property was just as described and portrayed in the pictures. Steve the host lives nearby and was friendly, helpful and easy to work with. The House is homey with a very cool lodge feel and was just the perfect size for our group of 5. The property is on a quite cove with amazing lake views, a very nice dock with a boat lift and easy access to the water for swimming and fishing! Everything worked just as described and we had no problems what so all. We will be back!
Nice, quiet house on a cove just off the main lake with a fantastic view from the deck and living room. Wonderful dark skies at night for stargazing and photography. Wildlife (deer, lizards, migratory geese) was easy to find as well. Easy kayak rentals that deliver to, and pick up from, the dock. Steve and Laurie were easy to deal with and are right up the road for any questions. About 45 minutes to Va. Tech and to Floyd (little town with local artistsâ galleries and great local food).
This VRBO property is exactly what you see in the pictures. Walking into the house is just like visiting grandma's house in the seventies. From the wood paneling, plush toilet covers, linoleum floors, personal family portraits, to the dusty tchotchkes sitting everywhere you'll think you've entered the cool time tunnel to 1972. Great location on Claytor Lake and for meeting our friends half way between our homes.
Fantastic Lake Getaway -- Everything you need for a great weekend!
We LOVED our stay! We came out for Memorial Day weekend and the home is so well equipped, clean and comfortable! The cove is really peaceful and quiet! We really enjoyed jumping off the dock and swimming as well as hopping into the hot tub to warm up! The kitchen has more than everything you need. We brought our own boat and we're able to do some tubing. Plenty of space for parking -- even with the boat trailer. Steve was really great to work with and fast with communication. Our whole party had a really great time and everyone was already looking forward to a future visit before we left!
My whole family loved this house and the lake! Even the teenagers! They didn't want to leave. This house is so unique and it had everything we needed. The only time we left was for my son's baseball games, which is why we were there. The owner was very friendly and extremely helpful! We enjoyed learning more about the house and its history. The beds were very comfortable, everything was very clean. The last night, I slept on the pull-out sofa in the living room so I could wake up to the sunrise and the most beautiful view of the lake and the mountains. Trust me, you will want to try this!! We all definitely want to go back!
