The good: great location near town square. Clean. Easy access & parking. Ample hot water (good pressure) and functional kitchen. Responsive management. Listing photos accurate. The not so good, at least for renting in winter months: there is one mini split as pictured to the rear of the living room that is the only source of not only AC as disclosed in the listing, but heat. There is no built-in heat source for the two bathrooms and 2 bedrooms, other than using the supplied space heaters. Otherwise one must leave bedroom doors open to let the heat distribute into all areas. But in cold weather, the bath areas are against exterior walls far from the mini-split. I also question the breaker capacity to run multiple space heaters. I blew a breaker on the first night and learned both bedrooms run off the same breaker. After adjusting the settings I was able to adequately heat the bedrooms. The bedrooms are not that large so a space heater does the job, at least for the temperatures during my stay. Also be aware that the thumping of guests walking above the 1st floor is loud. Ear plugs and sound machines will not mask the noise. It is a wood frame ceiling and if you have active guests above you as I did, you will hear walking, bed frames creaking. For a few nights, doable. It got old after 6 nights for me at least. Given local prices, this falls into the affordable for 2 bed units so I suppose it comes with a few idiosyncrasies. The host was responsive tried to address my concerns.

Regarding the heating, the mini-split serves as the primary heat source, with supplemental space heaters provided for the bedrooms and bathrooms during colder months. We understand that this setup may not be ideal for everyone, and your observations about breaker capacity and heat distribution are especially helpful. We’re actively exploring ways to improve both comfort and clarity for future guests. Regarding noise transfer, as this is an older building, the insulation doesn’t dampen sound as much as we’d like, and some noise is unfortunately inherent in multi-level properties. We completely understand how disruptive this can be, and while many guests find it manageable for shorter visits, we understand it can become more noticeable during longer stays. Your feedback helps us set clearer expectations, and we’re reviewing options to help mitigate noise where possible. Great stay!

Neither my friend and I had ever visited the Jackson Hole area and this place was in a great location to explore downtown Jackson but also drive into the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Parks. Check in was easy and the hosts were available if needed. I would stay here again!

Took our teen grandkids to Jackson. The VRBO was very close to the town square. Parking was great. The home met our needs.

The convenience and communication is excellent! However, what is not controllable is the outside extreme noise that would wake me up with earplugs and a sound machine in the front bedroom. We brought our sound machine due to upstairs noise, but outside was the worst. Also, no air conditioning in the bedrooms made it too hot for sleep and an open window made sound worse. Back bedroom was better for sleep. As first stated, the convenience of walking everywhere is awesome!

Wonderful location, responsive host

Absolutely stunning location with good proximity to both Yellowstone and several state parks that are worth a visit. You overlook a unique area where the mountains encompass a lake on three sides by the continental divide. Host was immediately responsive when we inquired about the wifi password.

Nice location

This was a great location, and a spacious apartment, but we were on the first floor and we could hear a lot of noise in the room above- people walking, a child crying. I would recommend staying upstairs. Otherwise very nice.

Great home base

We had a great experience with Outpost 3. The kitchen had everything we needed. The location can't be beat. Plenty of towels, linens and pillows. The host made good on a request of mine for an extra fan which was great. The bedrooms were warm to sleep and each one has a ceiling fan. The beds were comfortable and the bedding fluffy, plus the host checked in via text to make sure things were fine. We also loved the backyard with grill. The only downfall was the noise from the guy upstairs. Between his stomping and the noise from the bed hitting the wall at 2am we had a couple nights with interrupted sleep. Would absolutely stay there again!

Mixed feelings

First the good. The location is close to everything. The unit was clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The not so good part was we couldn’t use the TV in the bedroom, 2 cracked floor tiles in the kitchen, smoke detectors kept chirping so we had to replace the batteries. I asked to be paid back for these and I guess I’m being ignored now that we checked out.

That being said, we want to sincerely apologize that our team did not follow up with you regarding compensation for the batteries. This is not in keeping with our standard for customer care and we have made sure to review this significant oversight with our team as the guest experience is of the utmost importance to us. This amount has been refunded to you and we are very sorry again for the delay. We recognize you communicated the issue with the television on the final night of your stay and while we would have been happy to send a member of our team to address this had we been made aware sooner, we of course understand wanting to unplug while on vacation. Our team was not able to replicate this issue, nor have we received reports from other guests, but we are very sorry for the negative impact this had on your stay. Thank you for your additional feedback regarding the kitchen tiles. We have made note of this so that the homeowner is aware when considering future renovations. Great Home Base

The primary bed was uncomfortable on 1 side especially. No fault of Outpost but you could hear walking and floor boards creaking when ever they moved around. Unfortunately late and overbite woke us. Maybe area rugs would help? Don’t get me wrong-it was a great place besides the upstairs noise & mattress.

Comedy of Errors

Tried to get in and service tech working on refrigerator did not let us in. Waited 20 minutes to enter and finally gained entry. Tech continued to work and we left for dinner. Upon coming back the unit was full of gas. Tech had hit the burner knob on but wasn't lit. Fire Dept. called. Rental company had no idea where the keys were to access adjoining units. Unit was not cleaned as drink rings were all over the kitchen counter top and vanity top by entry door. Front bedroom window falling apart and could not be locked.Could hear every step in unit above ours. People up all night. The beds and pillows were terrible. Was not a good experience!

The experience with the service technician is completely unacceptable, and it’s not the standard we hold our third-party contractors to when working in occupied units. We’ve addressed your feedback with them directly, and should we ever use them in the future, we’ll ensure a thorough inspection is performed by an Outpost team member after their departure. Additionally, we apologize for any miscommunication with the fire department regarding access to the neighboring units. Outpost manages the entire building so access during their inspection should have been no issue, and we regret any delay this caused them. We are so sorry for the cleaning and maintenance issues you experienced during your stay. We've addressed these oversights with our cleaning team and conducted a deep clean after your departure. We appreciate you allowing our team to address the window during your stay and have not seen any issues since. Finally, we regret that the mattresses and pillows did not offer the level of comfort you expected.
